The new XP pool cap

As I’ve said before, if their intent is to just create a new server for old players, that’s fine.

If they are trying to encourage new or returning players, it’s not working.

And yes, I will come back. I’ve been playing this game since Aug. 2001, off and on (more off than on).

They specified when they released the server that this was “new and exciting content”, they also said it was a progressions server.
Drawing new players by releasing “new and exciting content”?
I think not.

My only experience with progression servers and progression raiding raiding guilds are from EQ2, where the prevalence of the latter led to the former. i.e., I was in two progression raiding guilds in EQ2 before they ever released the first progression server.

A progression raiding guild in EQ2 was where we played on a regular server, and voluntarily tried to play it old school, with rules established by the raiding guild on levels allowed, and expansion features allowed.

i.e., “new and exciting content” is completely the opposite of what I expect from a progression server. Nevertheless, from the newbie chat I’ve heard, RK2019 has attracted new/returning players, which is good. And perhaps for them, “new and exciting content” might be true.

It’s pretty much moot though, since I don’t have a problem with the announced schedule, except for the obvious that the level caps would be really tedious to achieve without the expansions.

I’m trying to get into ESO, I tried it years ago but never got past level 20 with characters. The game didn’t have the battle level system back then.

The game seems a lot better so I am hoping I’ll be able to get into it and find some enjoyment like I eventually did with Warframe.

ESO may be the worst mmo I’ve ever played. My hat is off to anyone that can find enjoyment in that bland mess.

I’m liking it but only at level 15 so far. Yes it has warts but nothing to make me invoke the 8 deadly words: “I don’t care about this game any more.” Gold is slow to accumulate which is my main hold-up. There’s lots of gear available but the guild merchants (think player shops) only sell QL 50-- at reasonable prices but it’s level locked. The world is HUGE & there’s a million side quests (by actual count! jk). I liked the murder mystery one a lot.

I just saw that Cyberpunk 2077 might kinda sorta possibly maybe be out for Xmas.

Meanwhile, over on Facebook, the AO FB group stays pretty active. There’s been a lot of “back in the day” screenshots since RK2019 came out.

I did a “froob start” with my org a couple of weeks before the new server released, where we did everything without help, and we set us up to not get creds from outside what we could get by ourselves.
It was more fun than RK19, mostly because we would not have to stop at certain levels and do the metagame really…
The level caps on rk19 is ruining the experience, and now they have even capped the xp pool…
Imagine if we could play the game for real soon…

I am pretty much done with “Classic” at this point. Between the insane level caps, terrible support, and the overall “Attitude” the devs have towards the community; it’s just not fun anymore.

It honestly feels like Funcom is trying to punish us for liking this old game and not moving on.
