Now we need to compare the materials required to craft each spear:
(The damage is not displayed for the Staff of E. inside the Mitra temple crafting menu btw)
Shaped wood and a weapon handle are so trivial in farm effort, that they do not affect the equation here.
So after that, we can compare the material costs more easily:
Gravedigger: only 15 star metal
Staff of E.: 30!! star metal AND 50!!! human NPCs
For a spear that is WEAKER than another spear that you can mass craft. A weapon provided by your god…
Why would I ever grind for a T4 Confessor and level up a shrine + slaughter hundreds of humans for this weapon? It’s not even worth as a transmog. I am much better off grinding the warmaker for Mordlun than for the Staff of E. …
Both spears should either have the same base damage stats but the cost of Staff of E. is reduced to 0 manifestations, because it is basically a star metal spear,
or
The Staff of E. should have 49 or 50 base damage for the cost required to make one. To make it special.
Same should apply to other religious weapons.
But no. Funcom does not care. They do not care about simple balance things like this. All they care about is getting the content out for their next chapter so people can spend more money on the bazaar or BP.
There is no devotion towards the game. The game is just a means to cash in money. (as you would expect from a soulless business).
You forgot all the steps required to lern the recipe for the grave digger like acquiring the amount of ancient shards needed to be handed in to the library of aristocrats.
But then again you can sometimes get lucky and get a free one after opening supplie packs.
It could just be untouched for the time being because religion may get reworked. Wouldnt be the first time a head scratcher was in the game to make sense after an overhaul took place.
But when you need to craft at least 45 spears then you will notice the difference. Because on PvP servers you die. And when you die you want to re-equip quickly so you can go raid/defend. So precrafted weapons/gearsets are a must.
Clans sometimes have 2 chests full of spears and 90 gearsets.
That looks comparable to gravedigger. Its just different ingredients but 45 hard steel vs 15 star metal… I wouldnt call that grossly different… hard pressed on which I would craft (visuals aside)
The biggest issue is there is too many weapons and armors. This game could do with there just being Stone, Iron, Steel, Hard Steel, Star Metal, and 2-3 Legendary and Unique weapons of each type, and just convert everything else into illusions.
I agree. Every weapon should be those tiers. All others should be skins recipes now that we have transmog. Instead of the weapon dropmof a legemdary, we get a skin recipe you apply at the sorcerers table.
22 hardened steel in a T3 bench, but yes. Given the fact that Star Metal can be a rare resource on PvP servers (people ganking farmers when the meteors fall), it is more convenient to get the Lemurian Pike. And even more convenient over the Staff of Epemitreus.
Conan Exiles@Funcom_Community
Additionally if you’re on a PVP Official server and managed to either steal or gather what you need, starmetal is nothing. You’re swimming in it. Because the gathering rate is x4. 1 trip to gather starmetal with a farming build and you have enough or more to support raid hours. This is of course if you’re able to get it. Chances are serious groups will have an abundance of it because members will spend time on the server during slow hours, so farming is easier. Of course there’s many uses for it, it goes quickly but nonetheless.
Shards are easy to acquire 100%, especially now with the need to farm legendaries. No question.
As you’ve pointed out the biggest imbalance is absolutely with the favor.
I do really hope there’s a reason for it but we’ve been proven wrong many a time too.
