That also has the benefit of them being able to look at a backup, so if someone does something naughty and tears it down to avoid repercussions they aren’t going to be able to hide from their past. They can look at the state of the build around the time of the report.
I heard a lot the expression “admin wipe” here. Do you “wipe” in your single player and load it with the next server restart, or you don’t “wipe” at all and you leave the decay system of the game to do the job.
What’s the case here?
Thank you for the response.
One more question if you don’t mind:
Is accessing the database to copy based on present information or from a specific save at a different time?
Interesting. Mainly because I was under the same assumption and you can find me saying this very same thing on these forums multiple times.
But after that I read multiple success stories of how people make a bunch of fake accounts and mass-report others and that seems to “work” so I wasn’t entirely sure anymore, thank you for confirming though.
This however means… you can’t really apply the above concept to cases of actual cheating / hacking / etc.
Since obviously if you copy the server database and load it up in single player… you are not going to find evidence of a certain player speedhacking for example. And you just confirmed that you do not log into the game servers directly to avoid taking up player slots, so that would mean you can’t even “catch them in the act”.
So one must wonder how can you handle these instances of cheating then, especially since quite often these are the bigger offenses, building violations are hardly comparable to somebody actively and maliciously using third party programs to cheat.
They can’t give away all their secrets now can they?
This is precisely why despite being PVP enabled, my clan on my own server rarely if ever intervenes in it’s citizen’s battles. It is not a good look. The most support we will give a protectorate is largely material support, including our capital city.
Ah, you Greeks are the same as we Finns, then.
moderation do not need to please everyone, but for example if some easterns start to spam leader names by cubes or long ago 40 swasticas, or just spams sandstone cubes on 2 grids or even 1, that is not only deletable but banable… and for me personally it took 25 reports till one guy who spamed sweared and such finally seems never returning. while before, it kinda ‘‘takes action’’ and hes back like 1 week later and continues…
At this time : 1020 and 6422 ( ok 6422 is better ) but the 1020 server is example how to not build around frozen bridge… just sandstone unfinished cubes, while player just logs 1 time to reset it and never plays…
Ps. i think i even have screenshots, of those names and such, but if i add there in forum for just example i think i will get ban… so yes… and to delete one of that, i needed to wait like 4 months…
I suppose I should clarify. We don’t join servers for the purpose of investigating building infractions, but we have joined servers for other reasons. I won’t be able to get into details about how we investigate cheating. There are a number of tools and methods we have at our disposal.
Looks like your typical PVE server.
Today I joined a server just to see if a bug also existed in Online play. As I had to level up, I traveled a little.
Gosh… sandstone monstrosities everywhere, @DeaconElie .
But Funcom needs to be careful. If they apply the ToS rigorously on PvE, the playerbase will dwindle. I assume most people don’t do it to harm others. They just don’t know any better…
However, when you seal something, you know bloody well what you’re doing. In those cases, swing the hamner hard. Malicious intent should be punished accordingly.
I’m not conducting an investigation for the screenshots that are being posted here. If you want us to look at these locations on your server, then you need to make a Zendesk report. We like to get credit for the work we do and Zendesk also archives our work for future review if needed.
You guys need to be such fast in Zen as you are in flagging forums , then maybe servers would be better place and asuming of some investigation when player just share experience of griefers in correct forum panel
I’ve only skimmed the thread, maybe my point has already been made…
Apparently it is a clear violation of the ugly space-consuming construction. but from my point of view a base is more important than a portal. That the other player is not allowed to build his base there because you have a small portal there makes me angry. unfortunately i see so often portal spammed in the area, which then take away a valuable base space. Especially since your portal is in the middle of the area and not somewhere on the edge.
To back up my point
I tend to tour servers, though not as much as I used to, just to see what people have built. There’s plenty of t3 monstrosities as well but also some incredible works of art. Spans an entire grid block, or otherwise breaks the tos, but is awe inspiring and amazing not just due to size.
Someone had a ginormous and impressively done Star Wars star destroyer way up on pillars at the sinkhole on 1524 but it’s gone now. No idea if they got banned or just quit.
Also a good way to discover building ideas to ste…uh, for inspiration.
Why? The Nemedian foundation "fix’ didn’t. The lost of Ks of thralls didn’t. People get time outs for a land claim violations and come right back and build the same way in the same place.
My opinion they could wipe the public servers and they would be right back to over build in a couple months, and not lose a player.
Doesn’t matter if a mega base is sand stone or Camelot. Pretty doesn’t put a build above the ToC.
Because it wasn’t intentional, @DeaconElie . It was a screw up…
oops, just wiped the server
