It’s simple. If you placed the wall that obstructs your vision - you should be unable to place any objects behind that wall if you don’t have a direct line of sight to the placement spot.
There’s a lot I could say about it, but what’s important is that generally speaking, pve’ers and pvp’ers alike hated shambala and only played it because they needed those endgame items.
That reminds me of many things they added in CE, or about to add, like thrall leveling. Who the hell will ENJOY GRINDING your thrall to the max level every single time instead of simply getting maxed out already? People would be forced to do that to not lose to those who does that, but it does not mean they will have fun doing that. Or spending weeks of real time to search for those t4 named armourer so they could craft best type of specific armor, for example. Does even a single person out there enjoys grinding mobs for weeks, just waiting for a randomly spawned npc to proc? But they are forced to do that if they need the armor. And if they lose the armourer day later in raid, they will probably just quit out of frustration. It seems like game designer who makes up mechanics asks himself the wrong type of questions - instead of thinking “will i enjoy costantly doing this activity?” he thinks “will this make players waste as much time as possible on this game” - ultimatly adding one timesink after another instead of adding something fun to play with.
Thing is, when Funcom rebooted TSW, they decided to ONLY include shambala as its pvp content on the grounds that it was the most popular pvp mode… see the problem?
Of course i do! This happening right now as well. Pvp players leaving the game due to pvp being unfun and unballanced. What conclusion developers are making from this? “Pve and roleplay modes are more popular!”. Of course they will be more popular, you don’t screw up their gameplay hard.
People like to treat the symptoms, instead of searching for the origin of the problem they face. It’s probably a lot easier to pretend that people just don’t like pvp instead of admitting that they have failed to ballance things out and re-think their approach to pvp.
p.s. Also, for the last dude commented, i don’t think anyone will even keep reading or treat you serious after reading a paragraph with typical “you are wrong, there is a secret way, but i am not telling”.
Haha the so called ‘secret way’ is spawning duplicated jebbhal sags while u jump exploit at the bubble. Fun game mechanic … Another example of what was described above.
I believe I asked 2 years ago in the Dev stream about pillar bases. The answer from some players and thus the community managers was to let yourself drop from the sky into the pillar base or to grief the owners by spamming buildings and gank them. So again. Just because people are forced to do this doesn’t mean it’s fun or an inspiring concept.
Naked bombers are the problem with this, we were 3 defending against 8 some months back and literally could not keep up with their rate of spawn and the damage from their bombs.
Not to mention bedrolls aren’t easy to destroy. Why i can’t poke it a few times or straight up dismantle one that doesn’t belong to me is ridiculous.
I’ve mentioned this in the past but respawn times need to become progressively longer with consecutive deaths in a set amount of time. As in, each death would add another minute to respawn up to a max of 8-10 (or more if server owner so chooses).
Basically line of sight is if you can’t see where you are placing the building piece, then the piece won’t snap.
For example, I should not be able to sit behind a door of my base and spam foundation pieces on the other side of the door while I’m being raided: there is no line of sight. I would have to either open the door, see through a window, or be outside my base looking at where I want to place the foundation.
Thank you! Can you believe that you’re the first one to actually explain it in enough detail?
Now that I know what it means, I can wholeheartedly agree that it shouldn’t be allowed. And I don’t say that only because I don’t build my stuff that way. Even if I did, it’s not a “feature” builders should need, especially if it seriously breaks PVP gameplay.
No to nerfing bases. Lolipop bases are just a build design… one that’s effective. If you want to make raiding easier, how about just get rid of god shields and make gods super powerful? Then no bases would ever be safe and raiders could wipe all servers with ease… laughing all the way…
I’ve been in a clan since EA. We weren’t always the Alphas when we mover servers… but eventually we battled to the top of every server we joined. Once we reach the top, we want to defend all our hard work. We’ll use every method available (besides exploiting), especially using the terrain to our advantage. Why is that so bad?
Building ways that can’t be countered are bad. It’s like a chess piece that can’t be captured.
From my personal experience pillar bases are even safer than undermeshing. We don’t want cancer clans who use undermeshing as a way of basebuilding and the same discussion must be allowed about unraidable pillar bases.
Because lollipop bases bend or break the meta. Gods, Bombs, Ex Arrows, Trebuchets are all balanced for a lollipop god bubble. They are balanced for the 30 minute window from when you start your bubble to when it activates, raid mechanics make any lollipop base wipable in those 15 minutes.
For any raid to be viable it needs to be completable i 30 mins, this means the mats you use on the lollipop base easily wipe any non-lollipop base.
There is no way of slowly but surely breakign into a lollipop base with determination and hard work, there is only, check to see if bubble is started at 16:30, if no, wipe in 10 mins, if yes, try again in 2 days.
That’s what makes them toxic. To be able to raid a lollipop base you need to make raid mats capable of wiping quickly and flexibly, that means any normal base requires ongoing active raid defense for the entirety of the raid period. .
Good explanation, Viking, i could not put it any better.
Now, about this suggestion from above:
beds/bedrolls need to be easier to destroy.
So we have one bed and one bedroll, total 2 spawning points for person. If removed, you will have to run from the desert naked for at least 15-20 minutes and won’t be able to deffend your stuff in that time. It takes only one or two jars or several orbs to remove the bed - even door is harder to remove. Now say, how much more easy you want it to be? You can’t just deny someone their only spawn points at no cost at all.
Sorry if I come across as insulting here, it is not the intention, merely an observation. People like you halt progress for a collective. It sounds harsh but it’s true, communities grow by standing on each others shoulders so that those who come after you can more easily reach the fruits that you couldn’t and without having to reinvent the wheel to do so.
When people have the mentality of hoarding the discoveries and enlightenment’s they have learned because of some misplaced feeling of fairness… it’s just sad man :/. It is through the sharing of knowledge that we as a species have come so far, now yes this is just a game and I am taking a big step in comparing it to human progress, but at it’s fundamentals the principles are exactly the same. To with hold information but lord it over others as a badge of honor doesnt make you look good, it does the opposite, it usually has the effect of making people harbour some degree of resentment towards you.
So pretty much if this is a behavior one feels they cannot overcome and there emotions just can’t allow for them to share with others what they have discovered at such a cost to ones time, then keep it to yourself, and I mean keep the fact that you hold such knowledge to yourself. Because the whole mentality of “I know a way to do something but because I had to learn the hard way at a cost to my own time I’m not telling, you go learn the hard way too” It doesnt make you look smart, it makes you look selfish. People like that once again do not contribute to progression or evolution of groups and communities, they actually hold them back.
And again not meant as an insult more some advice and an observation.
I do understand your point, but part of the fun in a game like this is knowing secrets that gives you the edge… It’s (at least the pvp aspect) about being superior.
When fx every secret spot is on YouTube, they aren’t secret anymore… They’re useless.
Definitely I agree with you, I admit it’s a big leap to hold something in a game to this standard, and in a game having secrets and tricks you have learnt over time that give you certain advantages is a big part of it, the difference being I will never even mention a trick or secret that I know of unless I intend to also share it with you, otherwise it is just a pointless exercise in stroking ones own ego in front of others.
I agree it kinda came across like that… But at the same time, he could just try to give people some hope that it actually is possible… I usually don’t judge intent unless people explicitly state it.
The problem is on PVP, the haves do not want any have-nots around at all, and use the resource advantage to grief the servers desolate. Its like trickle down economics. In theory it makes sense. Business pays less taxes. They will pay higher wages. But that is not what happens. The tax breaks are usually taken by the owners (put in a vault) to feel all warm and fuzzy at how rich they have become. And to be fair and not partisan about others beliefs, Capitalism, conservatism, Liberalism, and Socialism all have in theory the right ideas. The problem always lies in when people exploit the idea for personal gain over the good of society. A majority of official OG’s are really very selfish (personal gain over health of server) about how they play, even at the cost of CE getting any chance at a larger player base.
Just tossing spaghetti here…What if on PVP officials, when you light a bubble (36 hours) all your bases become raid-able during that time period until it expires. IT would override the window settings for your bases being able to take damage until expired, the reset back to server setting 6 hour window… Again spit balling a bit.
And to add, if/when Gods return, your bases are raid able for the 48 hour decay timer of the token. Assuming they figure out how to keep one from freezing it. OR better yet, if the clan has a token, then the bases are raid able until it decays or is used. Countering the exploit to freeze time on them.
With both ideas, it would make Gods and Bubbles more the final draws in a conflict. Right now they are the main tactic (when we had gods). They should be the red button that happens at the end. The we are now ready to wipe or be wiped.
There is currently a new (or old) exploit in the game… Same guy posted it today at reddit… It includes weapon racks for 3 weapons
And suddenly you jump/fly high…
