I was wondering why there are no events in conan.
There is so much potential to make cool events around themed holydays like Halloween , Christmas , Thanksgiving Etc. What does the community think of that?
Christmas : Some skeletons have Santa heads on kill them to get mistletoe put 100 in artisan table and you can build yourself a Christmas tree to put as placeable in your base. And so on.
I think ■■■■■■ should really look into this , it are small extras for the players to do and look forward to.
They have already added some festive decorations over the years and I think they might be adding a rain dear skin in the next battle pass but I don’t think you’ll see things like Christmas outfits on thralls or Christmas trees sorry.
I would like to see that kind of stuff happening in the game too.
They could make it so that npc´s, animals or chests have special “currency or item” when killed or looted (like they did with the coins). And you can then collect that currency or item and buy seasonal decorations at special vendors for a certain amount of time.
Once the event is over, they remove the vendors.
It definetely would attract more people to the game. People love seasonal events like halloween or christmas. Thats why most games offer special events for certain popular seasons. Even pvp games like rust have it. And people go crazy.
Although I don´t mind having the x time “make a screenshot” events in Conan Exiles I find them very boring und very uncreative. Funcom could do a lot better in that regard.
Mh, it’s not that I don’t understand where you are coming from, but I would not like it in this game. I wish it could stay Conan’s universe, and hold events related to Conan only. Too many games celebrate Christmas, but they forget it is a day related to Jesus Christ before being a commercial celebration. Not every player shares that faith, nor celebrates Christmas for that reason. Same for Halloween.
I would rather have events about Conan Exiles’ gods, or any Conan related event.
If tomorrow, they hold a Christmas event for Christians, then I also ask they hold an Aid event for Muslims, a Ganesh event for Hindus, as well as a Vesak event for Buddhists. Ah… And I also want the Chinese New Year event, why not.
What they’re trying to say is that the celebration of that time of year, which was called something different, was adopted (stolen) and rebranded.
Anyway…
To the OP… they have tried in the past and while it’s a nice thought, I don’t think they have time for anything other than holiday contests, if that. Considering they’re constantly playing catch-up with the ages and chapters.
I suggest they could probably just give us a large blank pine tree we could just place like the lemon tree. Players can decorate it with random stuff they find if they want some Christmas cheer. And some outfits already in the game could probably be dyed to look Christmassy.
Who says it has to be something that we understand under modern Halloween or Christmas?
Thing is, that Conan Exiles in my opinion needs some hightlights/events. The dust that sattled over the game needs to be swiped. People need something to look forward too. They need a reason to login and play the game besides normal gameplay. Too many people just login refresh and log off again.
I know that people go crazy about such events. I play a lot of other games too and everywhere you go those events are present. If you see grown up men, that normally do not bother about anything running around in dracula costumes, giggeling and acting like little children then you know you are hitting the nail.
Call it stupid as long as you want. But there is a reason behind this seasonal gaming events. A game that you enjoy you play more. And you are more open to spend money. Its as simple as that. Events are not for everybody and thats ok. You don´t have to participate if you don´t want to. But I find it wrong to demonize it for Conan when it works in almost every other game.
As a Catholic, I’d rather we not adapt our own personal views on Christian and religious beliefs into all this. Regardless, I know what you’re trying to say… the point is that there have always been festivals celebrating the coming of the seasons. Those can certainly be adapted into the game.
All of our ‘modern’ holidays are from traditions and cultures that date back over 10,000 years, and probably go back even further. The names have changed, but the activities and reasons haven’t. At the end of the day people want to enjoy their time with others, make excuses to take time to spend with friends and family, and just the end of the day be merry and get their spirits up.
For video games, its just a reason to take a break from the normal flow. MMORPGs and Coop games do this all the time. They adapt our holidays into the themes and lore of their own worlds. All just for a bit of casual fun and a slight break in the normal flow of things.
@Deamo simply mentioned doubt on Christmas outfits and decorations. I added to that, jokingly given the time period, that the Christ was not born yet. I guess some need a green text?
I don’t think anyone would be against any festive items added. We did get them via twitch drops a few years back. The only complaint then was that twitch drops weren’t working properly.
Dunno, my Nordheimer might look sexy rocking some red booty shorts with fur trim and some thigh high black boots and the all important hat (with non disappearing hairstyle).
I doesnt have to be xmas… It can be conan universe related events as well. It was just an example. Im sure the conan universe have some Holydays and celebration days as well. ( ofc. Im not expecting they celeberate jesus his birthday in conan exiles ) I just think it would be a nice thing to add into the game Instead a new age only as far as a theme goes every now and then.
