Thrall Guards and Archers

Let’s be honest: Archers are not worth it.
They miss, they don’t stagger, they attack slower and deal less damage too. Basically, the only thing they’re good for is decoration.

SUGGESTION: make they’re damage x3.
They would probably still suck since they still don’t stagger and attack slower, but at least WHEN they hit, they’ll hit like a truck !

As for now, Archers Thrall would never be as worth as Fighters.
If you make their damage x3, they would be almost on par (Fighters would still kick their a** probably).

X3 is a bit much but I do think they need some work. They are pretty trash, but I think they just need a rework to their default ammo mechanic. It’s unreasonable to have to supply them with arrows when they will mindlessly fire arrow after arrow into scenery. Maybe have their default ammo be star metal arrows or something, I dunno.

Archery, even with good support stats, is a bit weak for thralls. Slow and inaccurate shots being mostly to blame.
It seems everytime an npc Archer tags me (in the leg or not), I get the cripple anomaly. Perhaps if my own archer guards would agro at greater range, stop walking off their platforms (or be able to shoot over fences), and inflict a movement reduction at a meaningful distance, they would be more useful.

I find on xbox i have to get my archers into melee range before they will begin combat with some frequency. They still miss with the first few arrows and the npcs agro past my archer and chase me. Its all so muffed up.

BTW, I think even with x3 damage they will still be weak compared to fighters.

  1. Pump 7-8 good archers on accuracy (preferably with a “level 100” mod)
  2. Give them intensified Voidforge Bows (41 Damage) and powerful arrows
  3. Place the wooden blocks of arena in front of the base, 5x5 or 4x4, surround them with a fence with spikes outward
  4. Put archers on it with setting to keep the position, the attack range is 50m - and you will not need fighters to defend your base)))

The whole level them 5x their default ability kind of diminishes the utility of this

I know. Just throwing in my two cents. I think they’d improve utility wise if they had more user friendly options for ammo.

I play on official server, exiled lands, so that can’t be done xD
Also, that’s not the point … if you take 7-8 good fighters pumped on vit with a lv.100 mod you won’t even need a base XD

The point is that when it comes to build your little army, you should never consider Archers, which makes the whole class less than useless. The point is that if we have an Archer-class, it may as well be useful.

Yes just give the fighter a bow and they can do the jobb to insted.

In addition to inflicting damage, archers perform another important role during purges: they direct the attackers in the direction I need. Thus, it is I who decide where and how to meet the enemy, not the attackers. So I always needed archers, even when playing vanilla.
Now my base is protected by 7 archers and 3 fighters. Due to the peculiarities of the terrain, 10 fighters will not be able to fully defend the base, but 10 archers will.
PS All of this is true for a single player game, of course.

How can they direct the attackers ? How does this work ?

Very simple. Wherever the attackers go, they drop everything and run in the direction of fire, like moths to a lamp))
