Well yea… but the part you’re forgetting is that while you CAN solo things with lots of time and patience… the game and the encounters you mention were balanced around the idea that you have some thralls with you… but BADLY… so that’s what they’re trying to fix, that’s all ![]()
to still give options to pivot to a different stance. Many (if not all) companies don’t go public with direction of aspects of the company until it’s cemented. This hasn’t been cemented yet Many of the things that are being tackled in these changes are needed. I’m tired of seeing Apex bases that have drawbridges attached that are more like wings since they aren’t bridges just because of the HP. These build metas needed to be removed but the reason for them needed to be acknowledged and fixed and this is where i think FC is hung up. Is it raid offense is too much destructive power or is it offlining is the issue and how do you balance that with the already OP defense of the repair hammer that can counter the might of gods and thousands of explosives?
Now hopefully they take a hint from the thrall vs PC issue and redo it all. (if PC attributes weren’t changed over in making the PC a beast, I would totally agree with you thralls need the option to remain strong) I hope the raid mechanic is the next great white whale that ole Den?Ahab takes on but that will leave the PVE side high and dry and I don’t like that…not one bit. We are all playing the game so that much dedication to only that aspect is selfish…needs to be done but still very one sided.
Min-max with your followers, and naturally they are going to be stronger than normal. You’re pushing them to the absolute limits that the design allows for.
The arguments are ignoring the fact that not everyone plays that way. And if you do play that way, take responsibility for your own actions.
Like I said higher up in this post.
Where are the videos of fully RNG thralls showcasing a variety available, all taking on the same boss, using the same gear. Let’s see kill times that prove any random thrall you get can all function at this level of power with no help from the player at all.
A proper test demands you cover many situations. Not a couple pre-designed thralls that have the best of everything.
Instant level 20
No food boosting any % attributes
Stone tier gear w/ coarse (right off the wheel clothing)
Take a selection of NPCs from all over the Exiled Lands.
Not just the best cherry picked ones.
Then do the same with food meticulously boosting your stat % value for every single level up. Give them the same stone tier/coarse gear, as well as min-maxing their perks.
See how different the timing is. Then do the same thralls only at level 10. Same gear. Repeat it with high tier weapons and gear.
Only then can you truly compare kill times across the spectrum and see how big a difference is.
You finally noticed huh? I muted two people (the two you’re talking to most) back at about post 120 or so. The thread makes so much more sense now and it’s actually on topic too! ![]()
Finally the discussion is about whether thralls are being nerfed too far in 3.0, or not.
So, decided to do my own testing to see how pre-3.0 was.
I used Cannibal Brute which had the lowest HP on the Thrall list from the wiki.
And an RHTS which everyone has been encouraging me to get as a strong Thrall.
I spawned The Red Mother in a desert area west of Shattered Springs as an arena, since no other spawns nearby to interfere.
I used Stone Maul in the first test. Star Metal Hammer in the second. So both 2H Mace weapons.
I used the Coarse clothing they spawned with in one, and Silent Legion(Heavy) in the other.
I used the Console Command to level them to 20 with no influence of food. Perks were whatever they got, I didn’t pay much attention to them.
- Cannibal Brute dead in 4m 20s, Red Mother had 90% of her health remaining.
- Cannibal Brute dead in 7m 5s, Red Mother had 62% of her health remaining.
So clearly, the Cannibal Brute is nowhere near an OP thrall.
- RHTS dead in 6m 12s, Red Mother had 86% of her health remaining.
- RHTS alive after 14m 29s, with only 1% of his health remaining.
In this case again we see that the thrall only barely survives with over 1000 Armor and a high tier weapon. In watching the fight, the thing that saved the thrall most was he was able to be under her chest a lot when she did her fire breath, and I think it missed him because of this. Most of his damage was delivered during that and while she roared. The rest of the time he got knocked on his a*s by her front legs or tail swipe move.
The thralls had no food at all, which brings another question to mind.
When a thrall eats, does he get regeneration that lasts even after he is hit?
I know as a player if I have any type of healing going, it stops immediately on being hit.
Is that how it works for thralls as well?
Because if a thrall can get a stack of food, and eating will keep a passive regen going even while he’s fighting, that seems like a rather strong reason why they are powerful. But I need verification from someone on that to be certain.
So, these were purely RNG thralls. I took no care in feeding them because they were insta-leveled. So I could not influence their VIT STR or any other attribute by feeding them the +7% or +14% foods to help their growth.
It shows to me that, no, not all thralls are overpowered, or anywhere near it. The RHTS survived, but it had as much luck as anything. If I had trained him, possibly given him an even better set of armor and weapons, he could have done better. I could have likely gotten his HP even higher as well.
But that is influence on MY part as the player. It’s not a naturally occurring thing. I would have to work towards it, which should hold true with other thralls as well.
Give them onehanded maces, AI is clumsy with a 2h mace, I don’t think anyone ever uses those (I sure as hell don’t)
Also yes, they heal during combat so give them a stack of gruel or something
I mean…has nobody brought that up?
Seems pretty obvious that thralls are only OP because they were damage sponges.
If they can break the mechanic to heal during combat (something we can’t do) then it seems natural they are going to be way better than we are.
Seems like that should have been first on the chopping block. No more giving them stacks of food to have permanent health regen.
I dropped Teimos in and I have the same test going. His only saving grace is that he’s got 3k more HP over the RHTS I used.
He has the Red Mother to 40% while he’s at 65%, but I mean if his HP was like the RHTS, he wouldn’t be doing as good.
He’s already lost 4k HP, he’d be down well below half at that point.
Just seems to reinforce what I was saying.
Take care of your thralls, apparently feed them so they can constantly regen, and strong gear, and yeah they are powerful.
But in the general RNG sense, they really aren’t.
10m 3s and she’s dead, he is at 50% health.
But yeah, if they are healing during combat, that alone seems like the biggest red flag in all this. They should be subject to the same rules as the player.
is that with a 1h mace or the same 2h as your first test?
Same Star Metal 2H I used and recovered each time after.
But there are a lot of weapons and a lot of different attack patterns. That shouldn’t be a strong factor in this.
If it’s the weapon, then why target the thrall when it seems like it’s a weapon issue and not a thrall one.
Yeah, I recorded a few with the god thing turned off but there wasn’t much difference. I drank more potions then zero - that’s about it. I’ve posted a few others with Mr. Rockslide where god was turned off and those guys are way more dangerous - their AOE is like 2 or 3x that of the dragons and dragons are more directional.
But anyway, yeah… pets and thralls have not been nerfed enough yet IMHO. No matter if you’re a beginner or a vet they steel the show. And I get it; it’s kinda fun to have a superman at your beck and call - or a collection of them. But IMO it makes the game less fun. Maximum fun occurs when there is maximum risk (within reason) and your excitement is both fueled and quenched by your caution and trepidation. Just walk in and kill everything, turns into a boring pass-time of collecting goodies - like a librarian, a hoarder or maybe a preper but without any of the existential threats perceived or real. ![]()
No, not really. When you filter bad water you get something drinkable. Same here! You’re not removing yourself from the water, your purifying out all the ridiculous junk that serves no purpose other than to make you feel sick.
Nope, it’s the thrall AI, they are just dumb with certain weapons and take ages to reposition and “think”…
With a 1h mace they almost have no downtime compared to other weapons so I’m pretty sure you’ll find that even the cannibal brute can kill your dragon with a stack of food and a 1h mace
Well yeah, with a constant HP regen what do you expect.
