Transfer between maps confirmed

All the 10 DLCs PvE/RP players get and you say its time to stop catering to PvP players?

This map is CLEARLY PvP focus, why would you want to literally ruin it by allowing transfers over? You can’t be thinking clearly.

Higher level materials are not hard to get on Siptah at all. If anything, it is trivial to accumulate huge amounts of black ice, star metal, alchemical base, and steelfire. Sometimes, you can even find Brimstone, Gold, Silver, Black Ice, and Aloe all within sight of each other. If anything, it’s harder to accumulate that stuff (particularly alchemical base) in the Exiled Lands than it ever will be in Siptah. The only advantage the Exiled Lands really has is you know where the recipes and T4 spawns are. But when it comes to farming, give me Siptah any day.

Oh man I can’t wait for my server to get curbstomped when everyone imports their max level, fully geared toons and wildly bypass the entire levelling process and skip right to the endgame. Goodbye challenge when you can fit a hundred snowhunters in your pocket to smuggle over

And why couldn’t you do that, Jimbo? Also, this would happen anyway when 10 man clans outfarm everyone and become the first to get T4 thralls. Talk about being imbalanced! If anything, connecting the Exiled Lands to Siptah helps maintain the balance between small and medium guilds and the Alpha clans out there.

Yes. And now imagine those same 10 man clans having the option to freely transfer inventory between Exiled Lands and Siptah.

How? Are they going to implement some feature that gives the transfer option only to small and medium clans, and not the alphas?

i had my own idea to this: Some technical details for the Isle of Siptah update

What are you talking about, CodeMage? How easy is it on Siptah for a solo or even a three man clan to get T4 named thralls? It’s crazy hard. For a ten man team, an alpha team, it’s difficult, but very doable.

Adding the Exiled Lands maintains the status quo. It’s no different from the way things are now, except I imagine eventually everyone will migrate toward Siptah instead of the volcano since it’s so easy to harvest massive amounts of resources on Siptah.

If you think it will be unfair to bring inventories from the Exiled Lands to Siptah, I can’t imagine how you deal with the PVP situation as it is nowadays.

And if you make it easy for smaler clans to bring in T4 named thralls, you also make it easy for these big clans to do so, and even faster, because they’re bigger.

That’s what I’m talking about. It doesn’t maintain status quo, it doesn’t level the playing ground, it just gives a bigger advantage to bigger clans.

Big clans already have it easy. Nothing is changing by allowing travel between the maps.

If there is a chance of this to happen, map travel should be only possible naked, without armor, or items in the inventory. Imo that should be only possible from siptah crated characters to the exiled lands. not from the exiled Lands to Siptah.

Terminator portals? Sounds like it would just be easier to say – no, make a new character. Leveling to 60 is not hard.

But then comes the question: If you are playing on server A and transfer to server B, will your base on server A decay because you aren’t logged in or do you get to keep your bases on all the servers you visit (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, …) so long as you are logged in to one server within the required 7 days?

We already have a few clans that travel from server to server just to wreck people. What happens when they don’t lose their stuff on any of their servers because they “stay” logged in at least somewhere?

(To be clear, I don’t really have a horse in this race, I just hope whatever form transfer takes, Funcom allow maximum configurability at the player/server end - but clearly, finding the right balance for official servers has to be a key element of that.)

Let’s take the hypothetical situation - clan A is huge, has everything and can get everything, clan B is smaller and struggling to even get t4s on Siptah. If transfer of thralls is permitted, then certainly A can import hundreds of Snowhunters and build a massive army - but this seems like a process that has diminishing returns. They can already get plenty of t4s on Siptah, they (hypothetically) have that power, importing an army of Snowhunters certainly accelerates that process, but in a way it doesn’t change the overall outcome (if that makes sense?)
Clan B, however, might only be able to import a few thralls (certainly compared to the numbers that A could bring in) - but if those thralls take them from a smattering of t2 and 3s, to having t4s for all crafting stations, that could be a significant step up. It still doesn’t balance their power level against A, but then what does?

I really don’t know what this would or wouldn’t do, but just thought it might provide another interesting angle. As I don’t play on servers, and haven’t yet visited Siptah (I’m determined to finish the goals I had set for my current playthrough before starting over), this is all just based on my attempts to understand the issues of other play styles

My thoughts exactly - but then I’ve been proposing the “if transfers happen, they need to be naked transfers only!” idea since Funcom announced “untitled map expansion to come… sometime”.

I mean the Arnold connection is already there, so having people land in a Terminator pose post-travel seems fitting

You already lose your second base on the same server, no transfers involved, if you don’t visit it every 7 days. No reason to suspect this would change!

So when Siptah went live. I said give the modders three months and they’d find a way to link maps.
I was wrong.

They did it in under two weeks. The Conan Exiles Modding Community are some beautiful and talented bastards. They truly are amazing.

You guys are making mountains out of molehills. T4 Thralls and Godbreaker Armor would not unbalance Siptah. It would obviate the grind, but not unblanace it in any way, especially if the two maps are connected. And when it comes to resources, they’re far more plentiful in Siptah than in the Exiled Lands.

I do hope they keep Eldarian exclusive to Siptah, though. Anything that items that make Siptah unique should stay on Siptah.Preformatted text

I think you’re overestimating how easy it would be for the clan A to get T4s on Siptah, but it’s not only about thralls.

Think about about resources, too. The resources on Siptah are spread all across the map, but I haven’t found any single place that has a large number of dense packed-nodes. On the other hand, Exiled Lands have many such spots. You want a large amount of stone on short notice? Head into the silver mine and get something like 5k in a couple of minutes. Or head into the volcano and get 20k in 15-20 minutes (or 60k in an hour). You want wood? You can get 20k in half an hour around the Oasis of Nekhet. You want brimstone? I forgot the exact numbers for the Shattered Springs, but it’s several thousand in 20-30 minutes. You want iron? Again, I forgot the exact numbers, but it’s something like 10k around the Tower of Bats and 12-15k in the Godsclaw Passage area.

So the hypothetical clan of 10 alphas can have half of them run a quick farming run in Exiled Lands while the rest of them hold the fort against the hypothetical smaller clan of challengers who can’t spare that manpower.

But even that isn’t bad enough. After all, it’s more of a full PVP thing, and I still haven’t seen anything to convince me that unmoderated PVP is anything but toxic. So I don’t have a horse in that particular race, either.

Here’s the clincher, for me at least: if there’s inventory transfer from Exiled Lands to Siptah, then why the hell would anyone ever want to start on Siptah? And if nobody ever starts on Siptah, then what’s the point of the vast majority of the game mechanics on Siptah?

Why run the vaults? Certainly not for the recipes. The eldarium? Why? Why would you summon surges if you can bring easily captured thralls from Exiled Lands? Why would you use a convergence trap if you can bring all the materials from Exiled Lands? The only thing that remains even remotely relevant is the delving bench, so you can feed vast quantities of eldarium into it and hope that maybe 20th time around the slot machine will give you the recipe you were hoping for.

No reason to farm the (???) essence in Maelstrom, either. That’s for surges, and we’ve already established that they’re not worth it when getting T4s from the Exiled Lands is laughably easy.

So all this carefully designed progression – which definitely needs tweaking, to be honest – goes down the drain and they have to scramble to give Siptah some new meaning. Perhaps the Siptah T4s can be unique and better than those from Exiled Lands, so we can convert Siptah into some weird colony of Exiled Lands, where you go when you’re ready to skip 80% of its progression. Then you establish your base and grind mindlessly for those unique T4s, so you can import them back into Exiled Lands.

I mean, yeah, it sounds doable and I’m sure there are plenty of people that would like it. I know I wouldn’t. It’s not that I’m opposed to imperialism in video games, it’s that it would be sad to screw up the map that did its best to avoid the worst pitfalls of the old map, just because people were yelling that they wanted same old same old, but “better”.

I guess all those who complained about this being a new game and not an expansion might have been ironically right: it might have been better for everyone if Funcom decided to package this as a new game and avoid the complaints from the “no take only throw” crowd.

Interesting take, thank you.

You’re probably right - I was figuring alpha clans could probably summon whatever surges they want (the old exiled lands ‘got everything’ issue) - reading more posts it seems even the alphas may be struggling on t4s (which certainly sounds like an interesting new dynamic).

Ah, that could change things too. I’d understood from what people were saying that resources on Siptah is the easy bit, but if there’s no ‘bulk collection’, then yeah, I can definitely see people ‘popping back to the exiled lands’ to pick up a quick few thousand of something they need.

Yup, as Taemien pointed out to me elsewhere - I just don’t get how group play works in reality. Of course they would divide their numbers for efficiency - don’t really know why I don’t think of that - I’m going to blame it on Neebs Gaming giving me a false view of group play

Not even going to quote the next bit - that’s just a whole list of key Siptah features that I hadn’t taken into account, lol. I’ll simply agree, I can’t see any reason people would do it that way (well, maybe once or twice for the fun) if the easier alternative is granted. Really hadn’t considered how much of the island’s mechanics is about the build up to summoning major surges. (TBH, puts me back to being less convinced I’m going to enjoy the island - reading it, it seems a bit of a linear process - you progress through the island by doing a so you can do b, which lets you do c, etc. - as you say, needs some tweaking - but then it’s only just started, so that’s not unreasonable.)

Oh I still definitely want Siptah to remain its own experience - I’ve argued elsewhere against the idea of bringing some version of purges to the island. Certainly anything that turns Siptah into a secondary offshoot of the Exiled Lands would reduce its potential value as a whole. I think I’m mostly interested in the idea of transfers from an RP perspective - which, lets face it, doesn’t have to take as much account of progression and game balance (because the RP mindset will find a way to have fun with it even if the character/clan is over-powered). Whatever the case, I plan on experiencing Siptah as a standalone before I even decide whether I would actually want to transfer a character - I just always like options
That said, I can see how a lot of these factors I hadn’t been thinking about could make balancing that properly a very complex task.

Nah - people would just be complaining that ‘it’s not different enough’ and ‘they shouldn’t have claimed it’s a new game when it’s really more like an expansion’. People are people and complaining is easy

That bit wasn’t aimed directly at you. It’s aimed at the crowd that has been the most vocal about how Isle of Siptah isn’t like Exiled Lands enough

They would certainly get their wish if they could ferry stuff over between the two maps…

You can say that again

No worries - I got that you weren’t aiming at me. More just generally laying out how I see it, and continuing to agree with the points you raised

Must admit I don’t really get why people would want Siptah to be just like the Exiled Lands - I know I don’t like change, but just having another (smaller) version of the Exiled Lands wouldn’t add anything. I guess maybe folks really wanted an addition onto the old map, though I’m not convinced just adding another zone to the Exiled Lands would really have changed anything either - just one more location to farm the same way. From the look of things, Funcom seems to view it similarly, so I doubt we’re in too much danger of them letting it blend too closely.
