Now that character transfer is implemented and enabled, we’ll start seeing transfers from the Isle of Siptah to the Exiled Lands. On PVP and PVE-C servers, that will mean that anyone playing in Exiled Lands who doesn’t have Isle of Siptah DLC is going to be at a substantial disadvantage.
I thought it might be interesting to get suggestions from players who have experience in PVP combat about what could be added to Exiled Lands to serve as counters to Siptah-specific stuff. Sure, a “simple” solution would be to just add the Siptah stuff to Exiled Lands and make both maps pretty much the same. But if you guys are up to it, I’d really enjoy some brainstorming about how Funcom could make Exiled Lands on par with Siptah while keeping them different.
EDIT: I would like to clarify that I’m not implying that ideas from PVE players or less-experienced players are not welcome. On the contrary, the more the merrier. This was simply an invitation for those who do have significant experience to put it to a constructive use
I, of course, have no meaningful PVP experience, so what I’m saying should obviously not be taken too far in this context, but I like this approach to the issue and more ideas in the ring can’t hurt (I’ll leave it to those with the knowledge to decide what’s good).
From what I’m seeing, the primary issue (other than the possible ‘dead server farming’ issue) seems to be sigils. The obvious crude solution would be something that simply removes or destroys sigils, but I think we can do better. There are a lot of legendary items in the Exiled Lands that simply go unused - they have become samey and stale, with much of what made them interesting having proved unbalanced and ended up being removed. What about somehow empowering some of these items, not to counter all sigils, but maybe to counter individual sigils? I’m struggling right now to come up with what form that might take, but it seems like a way that, if it could work, would maybe add depth rather than simple countering?
OK, fair point about the vault gear etc. So how’s about something like a weapon effect that debuffs scaling against how high the recipients stat bonuses are? So, the higher you buff a stat with gear etc, the worse the impact of the debuff is. Doesn’t solve the weapons etc, but one step at a time…
Edit: could even find an in game lore explanation somewhere - there has to be some way humans originally defeated these elder races…
I disagree. It’s a problem only if you’ve decided it to be one.
If I understood correctly how a character transfers to another server, he / she must not be par of any clan and lose everything except what’s in the inventory / hot bar / worn. More than enought to be the king / queen of the new server and dominate it just by the advantage given SIptah’s gear so more powerful.
@CodeMage, if my post is off topic fell free to flag it .
The greatest bet in this game is knowledge. From pve to pvp knowledge is the greatest weapon. So Siptah maybe is a good pvp map with very reach lands, but when it comes to knowledge is a damn Las Vegas in the loosing days. Exile lands on the other hand provides knowledge the way it should be done, I love exile lands for the knowledge part.
So a player who wants to play pve-c or pvp, is better to grow in exile lands, take all the knowledge, some armor and weapon pieces to break in the delving bench and in two days in Siptah he is ready to grow and play a fair pvp.
In the past I read a lot of comments about dragon powder or other materials are rare to be found in Siptah, yet the only difficulty in Siptah is knowledge.
My personal 2 first weeks in Siptah was awesome, yet not getting knowledge started to annoy me, I had 50 dagoon scales to do what with them?
Almost 2 months in the game only 2 cooking recipes? Really?
50 flotsam boxes no grave digger? Really?
The recipes from vaults, essence of rot, table leg etc…
Sorry, but on this point the situation is actually a joke.
I hate to be that guy, but I just want to remind everyone that the topic I would like to discuss is how to make Exiled Lands on par with Siptah. If your preferred topic of discussion is “Everything Wrong With Character Transfer” or “Funcom Sucks”, go start your own thread, nobody’s stopping you. And if I have to, I’ll flag the living daylights out of your posts until you get the freaking hint.
EDIT: I’m serious. I would rather have the mods decide there were too many flags and close the thread than allow it to devolve into the same stuff I keep seeing everywhere.
It’s definitely not the only way, but it is the cheapest way. I’m just wondering if anyone can come up with better ways that offer more variety and interesting choices
Maybe then add a small khitan island to the exile map eastern of jungle that have a different variety of weapons and armors, equal to the Siptah ones, but you could travel to it by ship near the buccaneers Bay and pay pearls to travel?
It’s been a long time since I’ve been flagged.
Except for Sigils that should not transfer, imo, I don’t thin EL et IoS are that much unbalanced. They’re balanced differently. Most recipes from Siptah need Eldarium to be crafted. That makes them uncrafatble on the EL, as far as I know it’s impossible to find eldarium there. Most recipes from EL are rare drop in IoS, that mean if you can’t access the admin panel to spawn them your chance to learn any of them are very very tiny. Some don’t drop at all like Dredgers or Dagon daggers. And since as far as I know you can get Dafgon’s scales in IoS, that one will be un-craftable.
So many players from IoS will think to transfer on the EL, grab all the recipes then back home. A not so perfect plan when so many recipes will be uncraftable and others will give weapons and armour inferior to those from Siptah. Then you could grab the recipe to make glowsticks. I really miss it during those pitch dark nights on the Island of Siptah.
Huh, this does create some unique circumstances. The first thing that comes to my mind is Eldarium.
If you are on an EL server and dont have ANY access to IoS, DO NOT STORE OR HOARD Eldarium. Dump it. You cant use it anyway, barring trade possibly. Make IoS players use the transfer system to replenish any Eldarium they lose.
Gear will be the biggest advantage they will be bringing over. Get used to making more poison antidotes, Feroxic weapons are very strong in PvP. IoS drops poison weapons like candy, so i’d brace for that. EL could have vendors provide access to cheap antidotes.
Can thralls be brought over? They can sit in an inventory. If so they will have pet/thralls that are better than readily available on EL. Accursed, Tchu Tchu, etc. You will have to factor this into your engagements. Changes to thralls only available in EL could be a cool counter to this.
Lore and mechanism of the surge or maelstrom maybe would be a way. Transfers between the worlds causes instability to the rifts between them . These rifts in turn cause rifts to appear above one of three places in the CELs : One above the Unnamed City, one above the Forgotten City of Xel-ha, and one above the Temple of Frost. These rifts can drop Siptah thralls and maybe some Siptah monsters too and the thralls can have recipes and items on them.
Oh, you can transfer thralls, although it looks like it isn’t working when you try to bring followers in your inventory. But you can transfer crafters, from what I’ve seen.
Those last two lines mean you lose access to all the buildings, placeables, and followers on the server of origin. Basically, you’re “deleting” your character there. If you’re not in a clan, that means all your stuff becomes abandoned and you can’t get it back if you transfer back.
I read this as the same as what happens when you delete a character. Does it mean if I have a Tchu Tchu or Accursed Dalinsia in my inventory that I haven’t placed yet they disappear from inventory on transfer?
That’s how I understand it too. You can’t transfer a thrall already placed on the map because the transfer breaks any bond with them. As for thralls stored in vaults and crafter, since any bonds have been made and as long as you can put them in your inventory without being over-encumbered, it should be possible to bring them with you.
But follower thralls will be lvl0 and if you level them they’ll be lost the next time you transfer.
I think Funcom has done a good job to limit the most obvious abuses for character transfers. And we should give it some time before asking for changes.
You can’t transfer already placed thralls but can transfer thralls in inventory - fighters, crafters etc.
There was some bug that prevented transfer thralls but it’s inconsistent and it will be fixed as some moderator claimed.
