So looked up a 4 month old video on how to do a level 3 purge and they said easy as pie. Showed with a bow they were killing NPCs with one shot using a legendary bow and hard metal arrows. Well I tried that and took 2 to 3 shots to kill them . WHY? I find info on this game even Funcoms WIKI is ALWAYS outdated. Worst I have EVER seen from a game. I lost my gold etc, a Berserker thrall and another thrall when the game CRASHED as I started a level 3 purge. So lost 2 thralls one full suit of armor and legendary weapon on the one Thrall that diapered and my 5000 in loot. Mostly angry and all the gold bars that were taken.
Any suggests would be Just so frustrated with this game crashing on my constantly had 3 crashes this morning in 3 hours. Spend so much time trying to find missing thrall etc.
I love the game, but having a stable game is something game companies seem to feel is not important these days.
The wiki is fan made⊠if you want the current up to date info that it gets pulled from, its all contained in the devkit that is available free of charge on the Epic Game Store. The devkit is even updated during public beta, so you could have the latest info ahead of releases by a couple weeks. The issue is knowing where to find the data⊠which is why there is a group of fans that pull the data for people and put it up on the wiki.
Any heroic treasure is giving you 5k gold. If you play on exile lands i can send you photos how to gain 15k gold in 20 minutes without great risk, it will cost you just a bit shaped wood and iron reinforcement. Itâs a cheap trade .
Yes you can, but you need 4 perks in agility and good aim for head shots. Plus i believe this guy had a reach of the red Mother, which is quite rare to get. However arrows can be useful until lvl 3, gas arrows! And you donât need perks in agilty for it . All you need is to place some cauldrons with thralls on top, the purge agro will stop on them thinking how to reach these guys up, and your gas arrows will kill them just fine.
This is an issue that can bring everybody in really difficult situation indeed. For this i cannot suggest a lot, only say good luck. But you can always be on a foundation while shooting these arrows, so if the game crash, maybe youâll survive.
My last suggestion for purges is try to create hallways, this way youâll control the agro and youâll kill them easier.
Thatâs unfair. I understand your frustration, but keep in mind that Fundom wiki , not Funcom wiki, is handled by volunteers players and they spend many hours every day to update the changes. They are heroes!
Also just because you saw a video showing something easy for someone doesnât mean it will be easy for you. If I watch Kosmic easily clear SMB1 in under 5 minutes, doesnât mean I can go in and effortlessly do the same.
So the first thing to say about purges is that itâs a learning and there is exponential difficulty as you increase the levels. So my advice is start with level 1 then once you get the kinks out and adjust your base design and defender placement, do level 2. Rinse and repeat to level 3 etc. From my experience, levels 1-3 are relatively easy. It gets harder 4-6 as more specialized attackers show up. 7 is the highest I go as solo because all the benefits are there and I donât need to worry about getting 10 to 20 leveled thralls ready to defend.
This is a very good point. Itâs also a reason why I try to avoid saying that something is easy, especially if itâs something Iâm good at. Because when someone else tries it and finds it difficult, telling them âitâs easyâ is basically telling them they suck. Which may be true, but itâs not a polite way of saying it.
I can beat a level 3 Purge by myself. Thatâs because Iâve had practice and know what to expect, and how to deal with it, as well as good weapons and armor. But I would not expect anyone freshly off the cross to manage it.
I had a conversation with a buddy about a similar topic about a day or so ago, heck I think I might have brought it up after replying to this thread. But videos done by influencers can be a bit misleading at times. Not making any accusations about any specific CE content creators, though this has happened in the past, but many times these creators will artificially boost themselves.
Theyâll use mods or admin panel primarily to do most of their playing and kind of lose sight of how the effort to get such items or capabilities actually is. Not all of that stuff is available to every player all the time. And sometimes not available in enough quantity to justify its use in every situation.
And one has to understand that they arenât being dishonest or have other malicious reasons for this. Content creation is their job, its how they make a living. They donât exactly have enough time to farm and play the game like normal players would. So when new content comes out, and they want to push out their own content about it, they have to âcheatâ to show it off. Not spend the next 100 hours they donât have to farm up and get them.
But unfortunately they kind of lose sight of what it took to actually get those things. For example the content about the new Sacred Hunt. Thereâs no way any of the content creators didnât spawn that stuff in for their showcases. When they post a video the same day as the release, there wasnât enough hours in the timeframe to get all of the fangs needed.
There are some content creators that do play the game normally. But they kind of donât get the same popularity since it takes them a normal players amount of time to get those things. But the benefit of waiting to see is you get more accurate information.
This game is in a constant state of flux. Thatâs the first thing to keep in mind.
Reach of the Red Mother, for example, while still extremely good, is not as monstrous as it used to be, if that is what they were using.
Also, when Chapter 4 dropped a few weeks ago, it came with a purge update, mostly aimed at higher end purges, but still a alterations that may echo thru lower purges.
NPC and thrall stats are constantly being tinkered with.
But the real issue, the game going down like a visually impaired trollop in a cucumber fieldâŠ
That has been an issue for a very very long time. For years stability has been a pain point for many players. No amount of good gear or secret techniques can help when the game janks out. The wiki could be in to the second accurate, maintained by magical munchkins with near omniscience and it wouldnât matter, because the game crashed and you couldnât do anything.
Donât get too attached to the pixels in this game. They are ephemeral and that does not seem to be changing any time soon.
Itâs basically a mistake i do, but these are not my intentions and you know it brother. Thank you for noticing it, iâll be extra careful from now on when i use the word easy, you are absolutely right .
This is 100% correct!

In lvl 3 purge in times i had one skull stygians with spearsâŠ
Or massive thieve attack.
In times low levels can hide surprises .
Yep. I almost lost a thrall last night when she got stuck in terrain and got ganged up by three soldiers with spears (this was a level 4 Purge). The Retreat command didnât work because she was stuck in terrain. So I had to rush into the melee and just button-smash at the enemies until I managed to get her free from the terrain and retreated to a distance where I could make her eat some glowy green bottles.
So accidents can happen even when you (think you) know what youâre doing.
This is something that i see âdifferentâ and i believe we share the same logic.
The games have standard behavior mostly. This game doesnât. This instability which is not intended of course gives a âreal lifeâ feeling. You never know what will happen really leaving a different taste in the end. I say a lot what kills me most is my overconfidence. Because i (think i) know behaviors and what to expect, the unexpected can kill me. Sometimes i enjoy playing official on line exactly for this reason, the game can become in seconds so unstable and make the most boring fight thrilling. I know everything i say doesnât feel right, but it is, at least for me .
Yeah Iâve noticed this and I get why itâs done. A content creator wants to get views and in order to do that, interesting things have to happen. Watching them is a great way to see what things are out there, but should always have the perspective that it isnt going to reflect your experience. It could if you have admin privileges of course, but it needs context (or to be seen with the context in mind).
Thank you folks for your input! I have not played the game since this purge. !st I am tired of the game crashing and having to look for thralls or wait for them to magically reappear. Crashing on average once per hour just plain bites. And these crashes MAKE me hard reboot my computer. The thrall I had after starting the purge/game crash was totally lost. Hours and materials lost in a second.
2nd I only did the purge to get a tavern that is required for the current event. Seems you need some NPC. I am sure a lot of players already have one but being new it was the first time I even hear there was a tavern. So now I have to redo this purge and hope I win just to get a requirement for a timed event.
3rd I hate timed events. It is not because I do not have the time as I have been playing 40 hours a week. I just want to be able to do it when I am in the mood not be forced to complete a task like a monkey for a reward.
We really need to fear AI if top game companies can not even make a stable game, what mistakes are AI programmers making?
I am wearing redemption armor heavy and have 10 points in the archery/agility stats.
Yeah I am down and play games to have fun. Stability issues. wiping out hours of work in a couple minutes, Having to find thralls a lot. Timed events. This is not fun.
Why devs I have not played since this purge and I have 586 hours in the game and I am new to the game. I love the game, but a game that will not play properly is not a game.
Thanks again for the info IF I start to play again I will try your ideas.
Itâs also sad that we (the players) rely so hard on a fanmade wiki. Every bit of information needs to be served on a platter because we cannot bother to find out by ourselves.
Okay, the game is not intuitive. Most of the time we have no clue whatâs going on. The loading screen message about experimenting with various weapons to see what they do is just insulting because the game offers zero feedback on what the various effects actually do.
That said, some people have gone through the effort of figuring out these things. Some people have taken the effort to compile that data into a wiki. What I find disgusting is that some people have the indecency to complain that itâs not good enough. Itâs like getting a free 20-dollar bill and complaining that itâs not a 50.
Its not that they rely on it; it actually has been a joke with dennis that people can look stuff up that they donât want you to know except by playing. The idea is that the longevity of the play experience for a user is because they need to figure it out; not be hand held. They want you to have to figure things out. People complain about its lack of survival (me being one of them) yet people expect a how-to on the entire game, which spoils the challenge to a degree. I run into this all the time when people ask me where to find sorcery on Isle of Men. I want them to play to find it, but of course someone else will say âoh its hereâ and then they cut right to it. So yeah, its fan made because the fans want it. Dennis prefers if you find out by playing.
