Unable To Summon The Purge After September 's Patch

,

Basic Info:

Platform: PlayStation 5

Issue Type: Gameplay

Game Mode: online

Server Type: pve

Map: Exile Lands

Server Name: 3047

Bug Description:

Cannot summon purge After the september’s patch (23/9/2025).

Bug Information:

After the receiving date of September 's Patch, around 29/9/2025 I attempted to summon a purge to my purge base around seven times and all failed.

On all the attempts I received the in game message ”There is no reachable location for the purge to setup their base camp”

Map location where the Issue encountered: K8

From before the date of September 's Patch, purges were fine at their summon with out a single issue.

Update (3/10/2025):

On 2/10/2025, I plucked my old purge base from K8 location and rebuild it on snowing valley on the right side of the black keep’s bridge at E11 and tested it a couple of times with as a result one failed attempt and a lot of success on summoning a purge.

With today’s update on my bug report, I would like to inform and report that if a player wants to build a purge base on a specific area he/she wants, they must first test the area on if a purge can be summoned before building their purge base.

The September patch didn’t alter purges whatsoever, however even if we disregard that fact, sadly this still wouldn’t be such a cut and dry thing as the ability for purges to work is very volatile and depends on a lot of factors.

For example the simple act of placing a decorative mug in your base could prevent purges from working (not because of the mug, that was just a random example of a placeable), or other players joining the server, etc.

Best thing you can do is to double-check your base a bit, make sure there could indeed be an uninterrupted path to your treasure coffer.. that there aren’t defenders or other things blocking doorways etc. (I say “could” because just because you see a clear path does not mean the game AI can actually utilize that, however if you find a blocked path, then that definitely means they can’t)

Is it always the no reachable location error?

As this one recalls, there are two different errors, one about there being no place for the purge base, the other about pathing.

Possibly coincidence, but locations that reliably pulled purges no longer can. Basically, it seemed like the purge got one spawn in each of the locations it has before, but then could not spawn there again. Will try again next weekend to see if server reset impacts.

With @stelagel before the update of both August and September we were done a lot of purges on the location I mentioned in my report with zero things in the coffer room to block the way for the Ai.

Yes. The game gave me the no reachable location non stop from 29/9/2025 to 1/10/2025.

At 2/10/2025, I rebuilded my purse base at e11 after testing the spot first.

I’m not sure you understood what I was trying to say above, especially based on your new post:

It’s not something that you can actually test up-front as this is not in any way fixed or static. There are a multitude of factors influencing this even under optimal conditions, in fact the location of your own character is one such factor and standing in a slightly different spot as you await the purge compared to your previous attempt can sometimes be the difference between whether it will work or not.

In any case, the reason I said it’s not related to the last update is because we actually get a list of all assets modified in the vanilla game before updates and none of them had anything to do with the purge.

Anyway, good luck with it!

As soon as Nicolas mentioned the issue i jumped in the server to test it my self. In this particular purge base we had only one issue. In a particular spawn place we knew that the purge will quit in the middle of the battle. @LostBrythunian was taking the scout assassin role and when we were doing purges the 3 of us in this particular spot we end up falling asleep in a lvl 10 purge after awhile since nothing could surprise us anymore. I am telling you all these to get the whole picture of the untold number that this particular place triggered purges in the past year.

This purge base stopped working completely after the last patch.

One thing that hasn’t mentioned in this conversation my dear @Xevyr is that i build the coffer room in the hollow of the big tree just to protect the coffer from meteor shower. The path of this particular purge base, except the coffer room has no foundations on the floor just to avoid the bug of npc collision in them.

Maybe Funcom doesn’t allow purge bases under ruins or trees anymore. Silly speculation however and tbh i haven’t test it further because i take a break from the game the last month (i deserve it i think ).

In order to test if it was server collision i fixed really fast a small purge base the same day and it started properly to end as it’s supposed to. So i cannot blame server collision after it.

However i am not as strong as you in these parts or @LostBrythunian that he often spends time to explain me how games work and i learned the last months things i didn’t knew my whole gaming life.

Thank you for taking the time to read, gratitude!

Have you modified your base after testing that your coffer was accessible? Have you added warriors? In single-player, Siptah O-13, long before that update. It could be due to an excessive number of warriors or an excessive number of building blocks. 40 archers leveled up to 20 can produce an unreachable message, more than 80 warrior levelled to 20 with legendary weapons and high end armors, gives you that message, too much building can also produce an unreachable message. A wall 8-20 high with three foundation lines and fence foundations can produce an unreachable message. A treasure coffer that’s too protected from the Celestial Metal Storm can also give you that message. So, the purge guys are cowards… well, finding the balance between too hard and too easy is sometimes very difficult. In this case, it is… if you calculate that the purge can win, the purge appears; if you calculate that it can’t win, the purge doesn’t appear. There must be a limit of purgue warrior waves.Objects aren’t a problem, they destroy them. You can put cups on the ground, torches, pikes, decorative walls from the destroyer set, totems, any decorative object, they destroy all of that. The point is, you can see how instead of going to your coffer, they destroy those objets. You can try the path to the coffer, but after that, you can’t build excessively or have too many soldiers.

For example, a really well-protected building built near a wall with three foundation lines and a foundation fence that’s 8 or 20 feet high, the purge calculates the possibility of destroying your building with celestial metal, but it doesn’t calculates the posibility of winning because you have the wall, the first target. It’s probably just a random chance that it does it,i mean, calculates with ramdom option the percentage of succes hitting your coffer, it’s not 100% accurate, so it calculates that it won’t even hit with celestial metal. The thing is, once the meteor shower starts, it doesn’t stop and destroys everything. You have to go and kill the one throwing the metal. It wasn’t like that before; there were several storms, but they would stop on their own. So,it should accept the purgue. No recheable mesage appears.

As I said,I removed the archers and the purge was accepted, I removed the wall and the purge was accepted, I put another construction away from the wall and the purge was accepted, with all that built and warriors placed the purge was not accepted… it must have calculated that could win and… I was left without a base, without treasure coffer, without a sleeping bag or bed… and I lost… 80 or 100 warriors or more, the others were underground, I suppose the celestial metal buried them underneath.

You’re overthinking it  sadly the reasons are 100% technical limitations and not an elaborate system trying to protect their soldiers by not engaging heavily fortified targets.

If anyone’s interested I can post a more detailed explanation :man_shrugging: but sadly just knowing about it doesn’t help much :frowning:

Sorry, just what i experienced, builded the camp and checked two purgue camp spawn points, did some purgues, from 1 to 8,and fortified each purgue with defences,at the end 8-9-10,the number of warriors and the buildings was what makes the “no reachable” message appears, took off some warriors and buildings,in the same place, and then,no message.

Anyway,it don´t deserve the efforts, placeable archers-warriors-captain posts are really bad to defense your coffer, thralls inside cages are the same or worst than obtained with truncheon…so,it don´t deserve the efforts planning tresure coffer defense.
Loot is like a joke.

The only thing would make a cool add this is levelling every single warrior you have in your camp.

A camp with 20-30 warriors/crafters capable to help in PVP against players…but that´s another history!

This one always likes to see the nuts and bolts.

Also, if you have it, what changed with the purge modifications in the August patch. That is the last patch that mentions it in the update log.

This one has grow accustomed to changes not mentioned in the logs, so tends to assume if something changed and coincides with an update, then it was just an undocumented modification. But you deep dive the code, so any insight is appreciated.
