I have played this game off and on for almost two years now and I am walking away. Why? Unnecessary nerfs. Wait, no, scratch that. Not unnecessary nerfs; it’s your game, do what you want and roll the dice with your player base. No, it’s the stealth nerfs that bother me. You don’t trust your players and feel the need to engage in unacceptable practices by changing things without telling them. You’re adding durability damage to thralls? It makes sense, of course, but you didn’t say anything about it in the notes…I’m guessing because you knew it would be unpopular. But you know what will be even more unpopular? People with thralls guarding locations and they come back only to discover all the legendary weapons and armor they meticulously farmed are destroyed and unrecoverable. All because you didn’t put a patch note saying it was happening. Absolutely appalling way to treat your players. So I’m done with this game. You even already got my money for Siptah and I’m actually a bit sick to my stomach that I bought it now that I know how shady and crappy you are as a company. Feeling Underappreciated Concerning Knowing you, Funcom.
We don’t actually know yet whether or not this change was intended.
Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. What was obviously intended was the variety of weapon and shield durability nerfs that were also stealth nerfs. The only one listed is Yog’s Touch. But there are nerfs of at least 10 other Legendary weapons and shields…and that’s not a glitch. I don’t care that they’re nerfing anything…not even the thrall durability damage. I care that they aren’t telling anyone. We wouldn’t even know until it was already done without the efforts of content providers like Wak4863. There is no reason to be shady with your player base, even if it’s because you don’t want negative feedback on changes you’re going to make no matter what. They wouldn’t have lost me as a player with these changes…but they are now because they are ninja nerfing. And you know what? Even if they change patch notes when it goes Live to reflect it, they didn’t do it for TestLive, which shows they at least considered going Live without complete patch notes. It’s shady AF.
Yeah, I only just found out about wak’s video after I responded. Given how screwed the data entry appears to have been for some of the other Siptah related patches I still wouldn’t be entirely surprised if it turns out that some data file got mangled and that’s why a bunch of numbers changed.
As I recall, Alex said that they wanted to increase the pace of combat. You don’t do that by nerfing damage across the board. shrug
