Uninstalling mods

I joined a modded server for a while
Didn’t play Conan
I tried to uninstall all the unnecessary mods I didn’t like to free up space from my PC

I unsubscribed from the mods from steam and then manually deleted the mod files from the mod directory

But then a day later all those mods started to reinstall themselves and they weren’t even registering under the Funcom Launcher …

I checked the mods folder and all the mods were back

Is there any way I can delete them properly or something ?

Are you still playing on that modded server?

No

This is going to be a bit of a weird question, but did you unsubscribe to the mods on all steam accounts used on the computer?

Usually when unsubscribing from a mod, Steam will uninstall it as well. But sometimes steam can be finicky.

Mods are not located in the same folder as Conan Exiles.

  1. un-sub all mods

  2. then you need to remove steam / userdata / # / 440900

  3. And steam / steamapps / workshop / content / 440900

  4. And then run “verify integrity of game files”
    otherwise the game will CTD

It is then ok to re-sub to just the mods you wish to keep.

I only have one single account

I tried that

Ok, we need more information.
Are you playing single player now?

Are you going back to the same moded server?
Client and host must match, so the mod list will repopulate.

Basically we need to know exactly what is happening. Give as much detail as you can.

Please understand I am not being condescending I simply don’t know how much or how little you know.

First go to your mods menu in game, move all mods out of selected mods

And here is the impotent part, in game settings uncheck automatically subscribe to and download mods

You’ll have to start a new game. With that checked and starting an old game no matter what you did the game was just going to redownload the used mods.

If you subscribe to a mod, it will download along with the game files, but not be saved with them.
To find them you might check the mods folder for a file mods.txt which has the names and folders.

That to manually uninstall.

But you can also use the mods section of the launcher and AFTER you unsubbed to all mods you want to unsub, you remove them from the list if they are there.

I am sure that works because I do that a lot while testing my mods. If it is not going, it might have a problem with permissions. If you store steam games on the program files folder, steam might not have the permission to delete files that in “theory” it is the game that installs there. “Might”, because that is not always the case.

But in general, unsubbing and removing them from the list of mods in your launcher will remove them from your machine.

Moving to a different modded server
