Seems to me that the only ones against this changes are the exploiters. It means that Funcom is doing well. :wink: Keep it up guys! :hugs:

So much anger. It’s funny. The blame game is crazy. The game is changed, for everyone. Conan isn’t about instant gratification. You gotta work for a good outcome. Plenty of games will give you the instant gratification you’re seeking if these changes are this life changing for you, PVP or PVE. There’s so much more to PvP than weapons and killing. Try some diplomacy. It’s incredible how easy it is to break down your cocky enemy that exploits, but thinks they’re better than you, even when they’re standing in the ruins of their undermeshed base.

to be fair 99%+ of CE pvp players aren’t really that skilled. The really good ones are pretty rare.

A game doesn’t get better by catering to a really small group of the players.

I’m personally not really for/against it since it isn’t really a big thing on PS4, but tbh I spend way too much time on this forum and I never saw a bunch of complaints over this. Only the offhand macros. I’m pretty sure this one is on FC.

Yes, lately i was asking myself the same thing. Even expressed myself around how many things some people “imagine themselves doing”.

I Do not say is impossible, but to manage in doing half of the things i seen mentioned here on forums
man needs a Solid 12-14 hours daily playtime to even get a chance to defend it’s clan base, or attack someone elses base.

The sad thing is, using this exploit was so ubiquitous that the exploiters didn’t even consider it an exploit, but rather an essential feature of the game.

Then using Sword of Chrome on Thralls to cheese PvE is an exploit too. It totally removes all animations you have to do towards NPCs and bosses.

Do you see where this is going? Some people claim it’s bad, others claim it’s good. In the end, Funcom must decide. And Funcom finally decided on the animation canceling.

Do I like it? No. But I do not call animation canceling an “exploit”. Because it is done in other games too.

Wielding and unwielding a weapon or item is obviously not an exploit. You’re supposed to be able to do that. That’s what the keybind was for. At least I never saw a “cancel current attack animation so as to be able to react instantly” in the list of keybind options.

Using that feature to cancel animations so as to gain an advantage was exploiting the feature.

I kinda agree that it’s an exploit, although not for the reason you state (which I consider a weak straw man - I believe you’re smart and experienced enough, both in game and on the forums, so as not to need to resort to such arguments). It’s nevertheless circumventing a built-in limitation on an otherwise super-strong weapon, in order to gain what might be called an unfair advantage. Of course, I’ve never seen the Red Mother complain on the forums about how unfairly she was defeated by a thrall.

I dont understand how it can be considered an exploit when all ur doing is stopping an attack just like you can in most other games and even irl. It just common sense that you should be able to stop something you are doing. If I start making a golfswing but decide that I dont want to hit the ball, I can stop myself.

It was possible and tolerated by Funcom for almost 3 years.
Every other exploit got fixed (relatively) quickly. Why fixing this “exploit” now ?

I can tell you why they “fixed” it: Because they couldn’t fix offhand canceling on it’s own, which was the actual reason of DPS increase (not what Dennis stated in the last stream, see below) and also the reason why we PvP players complained about it. Offhand canceling btw was also in the game since 2018.

Animation canceling with 2h spear DID NOT INCREASE DPS.

You know what happened when you unequipped/equipped a spear mid attack? Like exactly what happened?

1st: Your attack animation is interrupted
2nd: You entered the equip animation, which prevents you from attacking
3rd: You could start walking (not sprinting) again

Yes you did not lose any stamina, but you couldn’t attack because of the equip animation. So there was already a disadvantage there. Seems like a good balance to me.

What I find ironic is a few weeks ago, I literally had heated arguments with PVE players about some of the issues that were addressed or mitigated in this update.

And now some of the PVP players are complaining that PVE players caused the changes. But why should we be surprised. We have a few ‘PVP Players’ complaining about an entire race being the reason they got hemmed up. And I say PVP Players in quotes there because lets face it. PVPers adapt, the real ones do.

If the edgy, racist, and exploiting ones leave the game, the Conan Exile community will be better off for it.

Did you know that there is a animation cancel window on every attack animation montage? It was an intended feature
 But now they call it an exploit and remove it.
I really can’t understand funcom.
The truth is: we keep fighting on this forum because of funcom’s mistakes.
Everyone i talked to didn’t like this new update
 Even my pve/rp Friends.
1- pvp meta is still the horse fight.
2- bows are the best ground weapon.
3- you can’t even cancel your punch animation(i’ve died by hitting mouse button while building at least three times)
4- pvp needs no skill now. A noob friend could match a veteran one by smashing buttons, since you are locked into animations. Even to dodge there’s a window where you can’t roll.
5- without an ambrosia like heal + removal of every cancel type, group fights turned into being hit and run forever.

I could go forever on this list.

Yup. I’m glad animation canceling is gone. But agree, it wasn’t an exploit. And frankly the community needs to stop getting into arguments over what is or isn’t an exploit. Yes, argue the merits of animation canceling, but whether or not it’s an exploit is fruitless. It’s like the glass half full or empty argument. Pointless.

Only reason animation cancelling was a thing is because after attacking the animation makes you rooted for a long period of time.

Anim cancelling become a necessity as a result of clunky animations.

I’m glad to see offhand cancellations gone.

But not being able to anim cancel with a spear or warhammer etc feels really bad. Sitting still for 2 seconds on a missed 2h sword swing is toxic and forces a roll.

Offhand canceling was exploited by the macro cheaters. sheathing and unsheathing a mainhand weapon canceling was never an exploit.
And the water glass? It is a philosophical argument over having a positive or negative outlook on life.
