I bet the pvp community trusts you now that you personally guaranteed it. Joke aside →
There is no code that that counter a person who goes to a mini with their only intention is to ruin the mini, if the code doesnt allow them to afk, they wont afk, if the code requires you to take/give x amount of dmg, they obviously will, their only intention is to gimp their team, something they can always do unless they get kicked.
What I think is interesting is that having a cheater in the mini is less game breaking than having a deliberate afker XD. It’s obviously annoying to have someone on comber/speedhacks but someone can simply refuse to play and is able to break minis completely. The only cheat that rivals this is teleporting with the flag. It’s pretty sad that simply abusing the minigame mechanics is more game breaking than actually using hacks.
Implement vote Vick and enable popularity contests and giving unlimited power to organizers.
I dunno I think it’s a slippery slope.
When I used to pop sags with two people in them funcom rolled out code to stop me. This would allow a large guild to fully control access to pvp gear. It could be easily abused.
Exercise extremely caution. I think a better option is a petition system.
Imagine this a sec
Imagine you could start an open petition and get people to sign it. If enough people signed it FUNCOM would answer it. We know their attention is elsewhere but perhaps a few big name issues like zenzoa, sherry, onepapa, zgiriti or sure even yours truly if you think I spend too much time in global…they would get a mini game ban over x days. That to me is a much better solution.
I say implement public executions. It works like this: There are corrupt officials in all major hubs. You bribe them and accuse someone of a crime. If the bribe is large enough (or cumulative bribes from other players) Then a wanted poster is put up in that hub. If the wanted person goes to that hub, The guards arrest him/her and they get a 30 minute lock out (like cowards shame) from Mini games and Raid finder.
You are literally arguing to replace one popularity system for another. Only your system can be abused far more by large guilds; like EOS. Your system extends completely outside of mini games… Either funcom should ban the culprits, or it should be a vote-kick in game. (Wether that’s 4/6 or 8/12)… afkers in minis is the ONLY thing I’ve EVER seen in minis that has gotten so many people mad at 1 person. There can be cheaters and trolls. But I’ve literally seen 11/12 players in a mini stand around a rezpad to farm the afker for the entire match. Because this player had ruined EVERY SINGLE MINI for the 5 hours leading up to that…
I’m encouraged to see a legitimate discussion on this problem. The idea for a vote-kick is a slippery slope and I believe it will only make matters worse.
Raid finder vote-kick is appropriate to remove those who are afk or the occasional incompetent raid leader, but it’s also used as a tool for retaliation and harassment. I can’t even imagine the ways this would be misused and manipulated, but without much thought some have already given examples.
If I were a project manager tasked with correcting this problem, my initial thoughts would be on how to use existing code. I would begin with group brainstorming, like we’re doing here, and propose the following:
Establish the average time of a mini game
Correct the auto logout timer (15 minutes) to 1/3 of the average mini game
Require a minimum value of damage and/or healing
I hope you will continue to contribute suggestions because the mini game is one of the last places veterans can come to have fun and if they lose that I don’t think they’ll have any reason to play. I’m new and trying hard, and have seen how most, but not all, experienced players are very tolerant and helpful.
These people aren’t actually afk. They are fully aware of everything that is happening. Sometimes taunting the team in chat. If you unhide them, they will run and try to save themselves. Any timers or rules set in place to kick them for being afk would not work like moriola said.
A rule that checks if you move will lead to the afk’er move a little before the timer ends.
A rule that checks damage done or taken will lead to the afk’er do/take the set amount of damage then run back in hide. Or simply run around doing white hits so as to look like he is fighting, but really is not. This pretend fighting was very popoular back on Fury a few years back by the resident troll at the time.
You simply cannot make rules that prevent a player sabotaging a mini. Anyone who has actually played minis for a long time will have seen this.
Give us vote-kick, if only for a period of time so we can test it out.
No matter what Funcom say, they do NOT investigate petitions against players properly. It is an outright lie when a GM tells us they do. If they did, cheaters and afk troll who have been plaguing minis for literally YEARS, would have been dealt with. They have to give the players tools to deal with these cancers ourselves.
Anyone not supporting this is a troll in my eyes. I have played without a break since 2008 and have seen all kinds of trolling in minis. It is not possible to make algorithms to prevent this.
Vote-kick now.
Why people which don’t play minis or did it 10 times and don’t have experience write here? Try to play 1 week on crom minis and all of you will agree with vote kick system. Because as i see, only guys which didn’t play minis disagree with vote kick system.
