We need more mounts

Slight correction. Hyperborean Cycle by Clark Ashton Smith is a series of short stories that take place in Hyperboria, and takes cues from Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft, who Clark was friends with. Hyperborean Cycles is also canon in Conan Exiles.

Camels, elephants or a war mammoth would be fine with me. If I want more exotic, high fantasy mounts like boars, wolves, tigers, dragons, dinosaurs etc, I’d go play World of Warcraft or one of a million other games that offers that crap.

The mount coming in Chapter 3 is a camel. @Pixelcave has posted in one of their videos that the camel saddle is already in the admin panel.

Please share a screenshot of this.

It may be an illustration. This video is were the idea came from.

Idea? You mentioned your character can ride the antediluvian elephant on Siptah.

The elephant riding was head canon if you read it closely

You guys all too late with the requests :joy:

Camel mount was already confirmed on beta launch day. Current mount types in the beta:

If you spawn a camel thou you’ll see it now has the saddle slot. Saddles for the thing appear to be… khm… “unspawnable” content :stuck_out_tongue: meaning they’re probably BP / Bazaar

I literally had to google what that means.

Not sure if canon lore but I think these are from some Marvel Avengers crossover over but
Dinosaurs would be cool to ride if canon.

Would love a pet T-Rex so I could get my primal on😉

Fun fact: In 1925 Robert E. Howard wrote a story for Weird Tales titled Spear and Fang.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal

If it’s not in the Complete Chronicles of Conan of Robert E. Howard, it doesn’t count. There’s a reason why it’s called “complete”.

I could see wolves. Skirting the line a bit, but I could see it. Anything more exotic like spiders or dragons would be going too far though, IMO. Dinosaurs? No thanks. There’s already an entire game centered around that, though I hear the developers managed to royally piss off their entire customer base recently.

Just not fond of the idea of having tons of people riding an entire high fantasy MMO style menagerie of mounts consisting of hundreds of different types of critters.

We’ll just have our opinions on Dinosaurs hanging on until the end of The Hyborian Age, and if it’s canon or not. I was hoping for an Elephant mount anyway.

So, we can have our “opinions” on the subject. That does not change the FACT that they are not. Opinions do not change facts.

As for all of the other suggestions mentioned above:
Camels - These have been domesticated and ridden for quite a long period of time and would be canon to the Hyborian Age. There is no reason for them not to be included, and in fact they will be shortly.

Elephants: Same as camels expect that I am unsure if there are any plans to add them yet.

Tigers: There has never been any point in time in which Tigers have been domesticated nor have they been turned into mounts for people to ride upon.

Wolves: The wolves in all of the stories which take place in the Hyborian Age would be of the size of wolves that no full grown adult could possibly sit upon. Perhaps a small child… but certainly not a full grown adult. So the likelihood of them being used as mounts? Especially considering they have already been domesticated (IE dogs already exist at this point), this seems like an exceedingly absurd idea.

Crocodiles: Have you ever come across domesticated crocodiles before? They literally see humans as food and nothing else. Even if you were somehow able to put a saddle upon one as soon as it found a souce of water it would drown you in there.

So yeah, none of these ideas are even remotely realistic aside from the Camel and the Elephant, and we are already getting one of them.

Lawl! “No Dinosaurs because I say so. I’m God. I’m God!”

If anyone can domesticate a crocodile it would be Conan :joy:. But we are not Conan so I’ll just settle for a sabre tooth mount if possible

However another idea for a mount I would like to see doesn’t consist of animals but maybe thrall’s carrying us on thrones.

Just an idea
Maybe 1x throne and 4x tamed but not placed barer thralls = 1 throne mount.

You sure about that?

These are big animals. Or some species of wolf are anyway. Bigger than most “civilized” people realize. I’ve seen the skin of one my brother hunted years ago and it’s certainly large enough to make one ponder the question.

Adult timber wolves can stand around ~3.5 ft shoulder height, and dire wolves, now extinct, were supposedly a bit bigger than that. Is it really that far fetched to believe that in the Hyborian Age there was a breed large enough one could ride? Especially when you throw in the fact that we’ve got things like demons and dragons and giants in the mix?

Semi-related side note, the horses that knights rode into battle back in the medieval period were supposedly about the size of a modern day pony. Not the massive steeds you typically see them portrayed as, nor what we’ve got in the game currently.

Uh… Yeah. Sure. Or you know, perhaps, because there is literally zero evidence to support the case for the claim of them. Which has already been pointed out multiple times. So by all means, continue to live in your delusional fantasy land where facts are irrelevant and your assumptions mean more than reality, but that is a sad little existence to be in.
