So it gets a 22% reduction in damage and lost the very thing which made it unique. Sorry but I have a hard time getting excited about that. You have become a very good friend to me here on the forum in recent times times, but this may be one occasion where we need to politely agree to disagree. Because I am vehemently opposed to this change, and nothing will convince me otherwise. Maybe because I am the guy who fought tooth and nail to get some actual Crom items included in the game where none originally existed, and I am sick of watching them get nerfed into the dirt and become increasingly sissified. But if you really desire to see why I am so bitterly opposed to this, then check out the feedback thread when I launch it. Not quite done yet; I am being careful and merticulous in putting it together.
Andy and Dennis were criminally unprepared for this stream. Showed they really don’t play their game.
Only in the middle of a respawned thrall camp. It only works on NPCs, not players unfortunately.
For it to work in PVP would need some kinks worked out.
So besides the 3 weekly challenges, do we get exp via in-game leveling and exp? Does that mean someone can unlock it all in one day if they just get exp via, for example Pippi kit that gives exp, or some other mods that can do similar?
If that’s the case, I like the change a lot, I never have time to do BP normally, so being able to unlock it all via mods that give exp would be awesome!
We are not even disagreeing, @Croms_Faithful . If it was up to me, the Sword of Crom would have the original damage and both players and thralls could use it. I like powerful weapons that one shot an enemy and I don’t mind when I am hit by one.
I’m just trying to cheer you up by saying that at least it didn’t become garbage. It’s in the ball park of other greatswords. Considering how Funcom usually nerfs things, I guess we weren’t unlucky.
I have no idea, @Viveei . I play on a ps5. What was said is that the usual activities we do just by playing give battlepass xp. I don’t know if there is a way to turn up the value.
What a shame. Maybe in the future. Thanks for letting me know, @Taemien .
Whats nerfed in it? To me it looked only a positive thing.
I prefer them working on improving the game rather than playing it.
Largely the only think I DIDNT like was mentioning ballistas two-shot avatars. Its not like Avatars needed to be even LESS useless than they already are. You dont even need to defend against it cause it does basically no damage. Just repair your front door afterwards.
What a wonderful way to waste your time collecting all those things to sacrifice to your god, hunt for a T4 priest, and lose your altar AND priest you hunted for weeks to have a quickly expiring token that does basically nothing. Way to go devs. GREAT balance between effort and payoff. /sarcasm
I’m sure it’s not getting a nerf because it came close to the new pvp meta. (At least on xbox. Half the clips I see are running power attacks with it.)
Can I find a stream recap anywhere?
Well I’m a big fan of anything knights related, but this set (not just its price) gives me mixed feelings.
The horse armour is interesting but I’d be more interested in its stats, whether FC forgot to set the dmg resistance to stamina like in previous BP armours. The fancy Turan one though has a resistance set to 0 , so just a couple of hits and you’re out of the saddle - for example in volcano it’s literally two hits from a t3 warrior , with a normal saddle with a coefficient of 0,6 you have a better chance.
Things around here look interesting but honestly , in 3 years I haven’t built an arena for Joust because it’s useless on a pve server and I would just risk a ban for a unnecessary land claim.
Oh and the best part in the end, I was excited about the knight armor - until I saw it.
There is already gorgeous and “realistic” looking poitan armor in the game which I really like. This one looks a bit … strange …
It reminds me a lot of I guess Korean (?) games with 3 meter long two-handed swords and a hero with shoulders as wide as he is tall.
But maybe it’s just the video and in real life it will be less meh …I can see but at the moment with the information I have it’s uninteresting to me (unfortunately).
In the contrary BP armors look really nice and I will definitely use at least some of them
They did not explain it very well, but I think you will get battle pass experience from normal gameplay. It will not be a 1 to 1 equivalent of regular leveling experience, but when you kill, craft, whatever, you will earn experience toward the battle pass. The challenges will now be downgraded to bonus experience rather than the only way to earn it.
Basically, if I understood it correctly, you can now completely ignore the challenges. You do not need them to progress and they will reward you automatically if you happen to accidentally complete them. But if you are falling behind and need an experience boost, you can go after them directly.
Well. It does sound like progress will be slowed down a lot, considering previously I could finish the whole battlepass in about 2 weeks, by stacking modifiers and doing epic and legendary missions…
If just playing the game will get us xp, to get a comparable amount from it would mean the actual challenges/missions are largely pointless to do… Its either that or progress slows down a lot.
I think this decision about the battlepass isn’t short of amazing. That’s exactly how it should be.
Go on youtube under Funcom.
Under the stream video there’s no recap.
Really hoping we can just get ourselves an exp kit via Pippi or whatever, that would award us with enough exp to fully finish the BP in one day. I hold no love for games that force people to play them, FOMO is amongst the worst things ever in gaming. And if the change to the challenges is how I hope it is, I will give a thumbs up to Funcom for recognizing that FOMO is bad, and giving players a chance to finish the BP without having to be afraid of FOMO.
I like all 3 of them, but for a very long time their streams have felt unprepared, they look nervous and not really engaged…
Ever since the introduction of Age system with its events, changes(sometimes to things that actually felt good), Battlepass and ridiculously overpriced Bazaar, the streams have felt like… Let’s hope the community doesn’t see through the smoke, mirrors and shiny stuff!
I don’t know how to describe it… but they just feel like they aren’t really there in a convincing and engaging way.
Some of the best streams were with Jens Erik and Joel Bylos, they had so much fun and you could really see their excitement for what they were going to present back then.
It has to be said though that it also was at a time where the game felt being developed and expanded on, I am not sure how well they would have performed if they had to present these Age of chapter streams, they might have been struggling too.
My theory is that Conan Exiles is the once amazing leader that now is an old man that hold his position because he still generate cash for the next one to hopefully take over as the number 1(Dune Awakening)
We all know that Dennis is mostly working on Dune Awakening along with the majority of their devs, and most of their income from CE is spent on Dune, and that might be one of the big reasons why they look unprofessional and awkward, CE is just the golden goose that needs some bread crumbs once in a while to stay alive.
@Eradicati0n made a nice summary on YouTube.
@Frillen I totally agree the streams with Jens, Joel, and Natascha were much more interesting, energetic, and well structured.
I remember them saying in one of the first Age of streams that they would never turn the battlepass into a time consuming and hard to complete thing for people that didn’t have the time or just didn’t feel like grinding through it, will they still be able to “admin” their way to XP in the battlepass?
I don’t have much of an idea how it will be because I stopped watching the stream after 15-20 minutes for reasons…
But I suspect that this could be the first step into turning the battlepass into a sort of “daylies” like so many mmo’s have in place where if you don’t play regularly, you simply won’t be able to unlock everything in time.
Let’s see how it turns out, but knowing Funcom, I have my suspicions that it may not be all good a change for everyone
