Whats the point in walling of places in PVE-conflict?

I’m playing on official server 3052 and theres clans who have walled of the Oasis in the desert , and now putting spikes of top of the walls. Also huge walls around Set City. Whats the point in this? Other than just pure griefing? Server is PVE-conflict, is there any point in this walling?

You pretty much nailed it… being a (insert to many swear words) troll is getting them off.

Maybe its a message to funcom to do something, or just some 12 year old who shouldn’t be playing this game being a ■■■. Or someone who loves being a whacko from his basement, and has nothing better to do till his doctor appointment next week to figure out why his junk is orange as he crams Cheetos into his face at 3am.

Give people a chance to be nice, and they’ll do it…maybe.
Give people a chance to be bad…and by all hell and glory they will.

Start interupting their building. Wedge foundations and door frames. Add a roof. Scatter them everywhere.

Griefers gunna grief. There is no reason beyond that. They get off on triggering people and having people get angry at them.

It’s not just about griefing to cause problems though. Some people want to feel they are in charge and have the power over others. It plays into the whole Bullying concept.

Why do people Bully others? For some it’s to mask their own issues and insecurities. For others, bullying is a way to feel they have power or control, for others it is simply Schadenfreude. The same is true for griefing.

Funcom seems to refuse to try and find a solution for walling in Official PVE © servers.

I tried to adress walling and griefing towards a solution several times, to no avail.

Keep on complaining it’s worth it, Conan Exiles will be a great game with that solved.

As far as i know - every Official PVE © server has at least one village idiot destroying gameplay.

The thing is that any solution to this will by definition be patchy and haphazardly, because it’s really a core conceptual problem with the game. Not that that’s an excuse for effectively ignoring it of course.

I’m sorry to hear that. If it was a pvp server, it is part of the game, because you can destroy (or try to) it. But, in a pve-c, to wall areas with thralls, obelisk, difficult resources, or locations, is just cowardice as we aren’t able to destroy it in anyway. As @Critter667 says: it is bullying , and as the most of bullying people, they are bullied in their homes, or they are some kind of loser, or they have little sexual attributes, and they need to feel control among others.

I am pretty sure this is something that happens to any multiplayer world-game out there that has PvP or PvE. It seems to be human nature. In many cases it’s just happy little campers ‘having fun’ and likely doing little videos for their mates. In other cases, and the build can tell you, PvE Builders will have a ‘Spot’ they like building in and always run there and then build. If the build is a display case then you know. If it’s some idiot-cube, or worse, then likely griefer/noob.

If you really like PvE and just want to build great designs, etc. then you may need to look at the many private servers and try them. Many of these are actively Admin’d and many of those will be non-partisan or biased admins.
I have not seen one other PvP/PvE world game that does not get griefed/exploited/spoiled and the only way to fix that is active-admin.e This is Not FunCom’s issue. FC supply the game. We play it. There is no way any dev can cover every possible cunning stunt their players think of.

The very best they can do is to cover as many generic bases; incorporate any genuinely good ideas that fit the game genre; fix bugs; supply some servers for players.

Go private. It makes a huge positive difference.

The big issue is that they have done it on other PVE-C servers I have been told. The more tragic part is we barely see these guys.

But they login once a week. Run to all of their thrallless cubes and then refresh them.

They actually let ine of their main structures that housed their crafting and thralls decay. The loot inside was pretty crazy I have been told.

Now they just run to the griefing structures and refresh. Nothing other than that.

The loot you usually get (got) from those dudes is duped,(or spawned?) crates and crates of the same.
Like it was hitting a jackpot.

and the day after you realise the game is dead when you have all lol.

I do agree with your obviously experienced insights,
i share m as a veteran in all different playmodes, servers.

Finetune imo:
The pve (C) principle of beeing able to block in CE pve (c), more specific- not beeing able to destroy- is a game mechanic not compatible with this gamemode, it proves.

Wich should be adapted for pve (c) imo.

To me that part is a development issue, so FC’s.

Yeah, it’s a ■■■■■■ re griefers. We had a coupld in a clan that kinds tried going mad on our private server. We don’t have decay switched on and don’t allow players to damage other player structures…you can only imagine the ‘fun’ this lot tried for a bit. Luckily, and crucially, we have active Admins and they fixed it, and without banning. The Admins just waited till the grief-builds were under way and deleted them. They got tired real quick and left the server. And agreed, this is not the norm and does not help your experience as such.
Just remember, unless the griefers have admin equivalence, they cannot spawn in stuff and have to slog through gathering. Key thing has to be the Admin side though.
I vote with my feet. If I dislike a server I move on. If it is not a happy place to play, I keep going till I find one I like. If I cannot find one I like, I get fellow players together, spend a couple of bucks collectively, and make the server a place you want to play.
