Greetings Exiles, and welcome once more to our newest Question of the Week!
After last week’s (and last week’s week) favorite screenshot thread, we’re back again at it asking for your favorite landmark in the game. In this case, capital cities! (city definition might vary in the Exiled lands).
During the past few months, our designers have been hard at work revamping them, adding more stuff to do and love in most of them. And as always, it’s quite possible that each one of you have a favorite between those destinations. Is it the vistas? The loot? The unexpected ganking by those blasted criminals in Sepermeru because I swear if it happens one more time I will…
So! Here’s the poll for this week!
What’s your favorite capital in Conan Exiles?
Sepermeru
New Asagarth
Sinner’s Refuge
Mounds of the Dead
The Black Galleon
The Summoning Place
Forgotten City of Xel-ha
The Den
The Unnamed City

Choose wisely, as there is only one you can choose as your favorite. And as always, you can only see the results once you’ve voted.
Let us know in the comments down below the whys and whynots of your decision, what led you to love (or hate!) any of the locations above.
Sep city. the roaming thralls and over all set up is by far the best. The others just seem to static and blehh as far as variety to be called a city. UC really feels more line a dugeon than a city.
Sepermeru - Definitely the most complete feeling city. Wish conan left the bar now and then…
New Asg - Like the rework… minus the wolves. I hate wolves.
Unnamed City - I chose this city as my favorite. I like the music, the look, the hunt. I wish there was a dungeon or a few mini quests in this area though. It’s a large area of the map that I think can be filled in more.
Xel-ha - Honestly, one of my least favorites. It has a great location and look, nearby dungeon and pagoda… but the city itself is unused space and I never visit it anymore.
Mounds - great rework. I like this one as well.
Sinners refuge - too small and too easy to get a t4 thrall early ingame. (Asura)
Black Galleon - great look but poor for thrall hunting even though there are a large amount of npcs.(on official) I skip this area ( minus the recipes) when I make a new character.
Den - I like the rework on this one as well. I would like to see something added into the nearby Ruins of Old Nebthu.
Summoning Place - Again, I like what was added to this area… added edit I really enjoy how the lighting changes when you enter this area. You get a real “Yog-Lives-Here” feeling. But the drums! The DRUMS! Yet, minus the local’s bad taste in music, I find myself visiting that location…
I love all the sandy places in Conan Exiles. There is always something going on at The Den, which is why I often organize parties (or massacres) there.
The only bad thing out there is the small amount of FPS . Regardless, it’s my favorite capital.
I like Sepermeru, because it is really a city feeling. This is the case, because most people do not attack me at once. The other cities can not be visited without killing the people. I would prefer if they react as in Sepermeru - defending themselves when you are hostile. This is something I miss in New Asagarth.
They hit you when an animal attack them… was kinda disappointed
Happened to me this weekend. A little scorpion attacked an alchemist and suddenly everyone in the range attacked me…
I didnt even lure the scorpion to them… Was someone else.
A tough question. I voted for Xel-Ha because I love the look and atmosphere of the jungle, but Sepermeru and New Asagarth definitely feel more “alive” and dynamic.
Personally, I’d love to see the Lemurians get beefed up and become more widespread and prolific, but I can see how that might be a good bit of work.
What wouldn’t be much work (in comparison) would be making the Lemurians actually wear their sweet-looking racial armor instead of looking identical to the Black Hand. At the very least the T3 and T4 archers and fighter should be wearing the Lemurian Warrior armor, while Yakira the priestess wears the full Lemurian Royal set. For T3 & T4 dancers, have them wear either the Derketo armor, or the Royal set without the torso armor (i.e. so that the leg armor is actually visible).
Since the Unnamed City is on the list, I had to choose that. Of all the ruined cities in Conan Exiles, it’s my favorite, with Xel-ha coming in a close second place.
I love both of them for the same reason: they’re visually stunning and extremely immersive. Of all the places in Conan Exiles, those are the ones that make me feel like I’m in a Robert E. Howard tale. They evoke the motifs of the rise and fall of great civilizations, of exiles huddling among the rubble of faded glory, of barbarians locked in their struggle in the shadow of artifacts whose creators would find such struggles petty and amusing. They speak to me of “age undreamed of”. They whisper of hubris of those who boasted “look on my works, ye mighty, and despair” only to have their boasts carried away on the winds of time.
The reason why I picked the Unnamed City is because it is much more alien than Xel-ha. Looking at Xel-ha, I identify with the race who built it. They built it grand and majestic, but they were still human. If I may be forgiven for taking inspiration from a different world and mythos, “Deep they delved us, high they built us, fair they wrought us, but they are gone.” Whereas looking upon the majesty and ruin of the Unnamed City leaves me with a feeling of awe, foreboding and a degree of petty rivalry.
I have the deepest respect for the creative team at Funcom. Bugs notwithstanding, the creative aspects of the game are outstanding: visuals, audio and writing. I think that’s one of the most important factors that pulled me into the game and one of the biggest reasons I’m still playing it.
UNC was my choice from this list. This city dishes out slowly climbing corruption, repeatable loot rewards, interesting bosses (dragons & the undead) and thralls to capture as well as that awful feeling of dread.
Next comes Volcano which was not on the list but certainly was deserving of a spot. Lava, my nemesis! It certainly made me think about practical ways to get around.
Opposite this is Sepermeru due to the real city life experience. Watch out if you are spotted!
I believe each city has its own value and feeling. All of them are interesting in their own right. Some of the cities I dearly love but do not enjoy living its Biome.
Sepemeru is definitely my favorite, as it feels the most like a city to explore. I reside in the mounds, but thats subconsciously because where I live is just like it and I’m an avid hiker lol.
I like the idea of creating non hostile places in clans that make sense to do so. It feels better to explore while the place is alive rather than whenever its a slaughter lol. With a rework of the merchants things would feel more alive.
Sep city! All the recent additions and updates make this place really come alive and that to me is fantastic! Plus I found the merchants voiced by Tascha only yesterday. Was really cool. Great job girl!
I really love New As(a)gar(th)d , close second but only loses to Sep due to the damned elusive armorer spawns and of course there are no topless merchants voiced by @Tascha HAHAHAHA!
I really hope that in between all the new stuff and dlcs the devs get some more time to flesh out the other capitals mentioned. Especially Xel-Ha and the Lemurians along with putting something cool into the summoning place’s big open area just as you go up the stairs in the middle.
That’s either a really old picture, or an unreleased build…
The well you see in the middle of the picture? Not there on live. (There’s a Guard and a Dancer spawn in that spot).
also the table on the left, right where the line is, also not there. (That’s where the 2 Blacksmiths spawn).
(Where the banner is on the left, that’s where the 2 Carpenters spawn).
