A checksum of “the world” had better not match after an update, because updates change things…
If done immediately after an update, restoring from backup would be a great idea in this situation. But of course it takes at least an hour or two, probably many more, before the scale of a problem worthy of a restore becomes known. By that time people have kept playing, some of them who never lost anything at all. So after updating each server they should keep it offline while they run an inventory/thrall/structure/etc comparison against the backup they hopefully took before updating. Clearly the extra downtime and delayed individual server updates would be worth it for many players - problem solved.
But we’re talking about when this thread was posted, 2-3 days after the patch. What’s to be done at that point? The chit had already hit the fan. If they were capable of restoring lost items they would’ve announced that they would do so. They clearly didn’t take server snapshots at the times needed to pull off something like that, most likely because they never dreamed they could screw thigns up so bad. I suppose “magic” isn’t necessary for a log-parsing script… if they still have the relevant logs… and if the logs actually recorded chests, workbenches, etc, disappearing… as well as the items in them… but that’s laughable. LOL. There’s no way they’d waste time making that script anyway when they have other huge bugs that still need to be fixed that affect far more numbers of people than those who lost items.
People have every right to be upset. They have every right to complain - I encourage it. But expecting to get your stuff back so long after the fact is a pipe dream. Throwing such a fit over lost virtual(i.e. not real, imaginary, pretend) items is hilarious. Because if your time (not necessarily you cyrus) is so valuable that you feel the need to be so angry over losing those things then you probably shouldn’t have wasted it getting them in the first place. Don’t pretend you’re not going to spend 100 hours over the next month doing the same thing again, whether it’s in this game or another.
For the record, I lost a bunch of T4 thralls and other imaginary things too. I just spent about 4 hours trying to get more and I had a lot of fun doing it.
It’s a friggin game, not life or death. --> Paid with friggin real life money which are not appearing in trees last time I checked and also paid with real life time to farm. What sense has a game if you invest real life money and real life time if at the end of the day you have no good feelings about it since you know that you lost your time for nothing. Getting raided by the very devs of the game! So yeah moving on doesn’t sound like a bad idea but my money moved into their pockets already ;). Also I didn’t quite asked your opinion last time I checked as well so unless you have something constructive to say or you’re a developer yourself, I see no sense into posting here!
I want them to not make this kind of mistakes. What are their patch testers are doing? They literally announced that the patch for pc will be delayed because they have lots of bugs. After I see they still apply it along with the patches for consoles. Who’s fault it is knowing that bugs can happen but they still took the risk upon my time invested making me to feel repulsion and disappointment towards the game. If I would lose stuffs thru a siege it’s ok, it’s game process but at least I can try to do something but to get raided by them? Not so fun at all! It’s not logical to ask to get something in return for your money and your time, as any other job in the world what are they doing is their job. If I will screw it up so badly at my job I would for sure be forced to search for another in the next day! I suppose these are too complicated concepts for some people if I literally need to repeat myself over and over for them to get some basic ideas! I never asked your opinion or what do you believe so as I said before if you’re not a developer don’t bother spread your “important” opinion all over the place! Thanks!
If you don’t like our posts stop commenting them or reading them at all. You like the game so much that you have to sit on it’s forums showing up how “smart” you are? Are you a dev? Can you help me recover my staffs? If you like the game so much why you’re against me trying to make it better? You want to have your progress lost always and lose your time for no result? Are you loving pain? This post is for devs to see not some random guy with no personal life… fact that is obvious since you lose all your time commenting in random posts on internet. Go and play your loved game and stop wasting the time of people that are trying to get something out of their invested time and money in this game. This is real world not only a game, I paid I want to have fun and this is what it matters!
Except the game is not even in early access anymore and people were able to play it for more than 1 year! How much more do you need to wait to get a normal value for the money I’ve paid based on their promised features? Or it’s money 1st and disappointment after? Maybe I need to wait for 10 years before it’s working flawless as promised?
Them refunding items that be a BiG NO!!! anyways don’t feel bad lost 2 Telith’s Swords. Sorrow & lament My Legion gear Nice food lot water 4 water skins, torch, Star metal Ax, 2 leather bed’s. oh btw I log out naked now since Funcom instead fixing worst bug of all 1st which login out & losing crap. So let fly away since common senses does not exist with the on what fix 1st.
Let just FLY AWAY.
One of the most popular MMOs ever was still bugged 2 years after release. Complains were hailing, like a blizzard (hint hint). Said game is still the most popular, more than a decade old… And still thriving, much to my despair
In short: Patience is a virtue
Even shorter: Patience, son
Conan Exiles has tremendous potential and in (pulling numbrers out of my ars now) less than a year from now I count on having a bug-free game. Either that or Sepermeru will bathe in Conan’s blood
Dude, you whine like a WoW player who has to pay a regular subscription to keep playing a game that has had many exapnsions, major patches to fix said expansions and minor hotfixes, etc.
You made a small one off payment (2 if you bought the dlc) and every hour you do play you are getting something for a continuing payment of…
wait for it…
NOTHING !!!
I challenge you to name an online/mmorpg style game that has come out in the last 10 years that has not needed patching and hotfixing after a major patch …???
Hmmm???
Every game goes through this process.
A hell of a lot of people lost stuff (including myself, on a private server and when I asked admin for replacements, he said no) and so I say…
I bought Conan Exiles on the first day of Early Access, can’t remember the actual cost, but it was less than £20
Since then, I have played over 1270 Hours ! for (lets say) £20
This equates to about ONE AND A HALF PENCE PER HOUR
I remember playing in the arcade as a kid, 30 years ago, and it would cost 20p per 15 min
(unless you were really good at the game)
I’ve had my money’s worth, many times over.
So many SNOWFLAKES, so few SNOWMEN in here.
There’s a “Safe Space” in the Hello Kitty Forum
Edit. Admittedly I did also spend £800 on hardware upgrades for my PC to play this game, but even factoring in this it still only works out to be 65p per hour. Less if you consider everything else I use it for.
It totally sucks to lose stuff you got as prizes etc in game but, you paid to play a game, you did that, you were entertained I assume because you put in all that time you value, go back out and enjoy the game some more. You got your 50$ worth really, now just wait for improvement or stop if you feel your time is too valuable to lose thing in the game.
Still waiting for some answer in here FROM DEVELOPERS so I can decide if it worth me trying more or I should try another game, or maybe we can talk about refund and I will stop bothering myself and devs as well! What is happening with the lost stuffs devs, gone forever? What are you planing to do in future so this won’t happen again? Any plans?
Another day where I get no answers from the devs, I start to really ask myself if anyone from their stuff really reads these forums or if they care… it’s not only my problem, dozen of people have it! We don’t deserve an answer at all?
They do read the main branches of the patch releases and often reply, and I have seen them reply to a few of the other comments too.
I suspect, many of the questions, like this one, the answer isn’t going to be what the customers want so they avoid answering as all it will do is spark an argument.
They will fight the fires they can put out and ignore the ones they can’t/wont do anything about. This can only be expected.
This is not to say that they haven’t read your message, keep posting your topics (NOT this one over and over), it’s the only way to inform them of your frustration.
