Why would anyone want a Coin of Crom?

Yeah but it’s something out there that FC didn’t just create out of the blue.

No one said it was out of the blue really. The issue is that it runs opposite of the story of Conan.

Its no worse than the fact that the word battlpass isnt in a conan story. Its part of a store. If someone can show me how Conan accessed his in game menu and used something other than a crom coin to unlock cosmetic items from his battlepass, I will concede they should use that coin name. Otherwise its kind of much ado about nothing. Crom Coin is alliterative and easy to remember.

You are entitled to your opinion , however this is not a nothing issue as it cheapens a major player in the lore of atleast one race in the game and is ridiculous sounding also on top of that especially with the god they chose to use.

It’s a meta item, outside of the game. They could call it piss tokens and get away with it.

Where do we drawn the line on lore friendly out of game stuff? Is the main menu not lore friendly? Is it not lore friendly to have graphics options?

If it follows the universe of the conan novels would be the line. I figure the fantasy type of creatures and races of humans that match the atmosphere of the time and attitude for the most part. The last line is plan nonsense.

The issue is one of marketing. What sounds good for a sales purpose. It has nothing to do with the in game experience. Catchy names that have a nice ring to it without being awkward.

I mean…if somebody were giving them away I wouldn’t say no…so I guess the answer is:

Because I’d rather have one than NOT have one.

Honestly it sounds like mobile free to play games premium currency . Most players (gamers) see that stuff as a scam. Do we really want Conan Exiles version EA marketing with a bit of gatcha mixed for ??reasons ?? The currency name just seems jarring when placed up against the rest of how the rest of the game is set up and the tone of that setup.

Do those catchy in game currencies get purchased making those companies tons of money? Do you know how this game differs based on your experience with the game and what they’ve shown you it will be used for? Yes they do, and yes you do.

But the Black Lotus Bazaar at least sounds good.

While acknowledging that it is a horrible idea for a host of reasons…
This one still would prefer the Bazaar to be an actual place on Siptah or the Exiled Lands where one had to go to so that they could spend the premium currency and turn in Battle Pass achievements for rewards.
Yes yes, spawn camps, spiteful players slaying the vendors to ruin everyone else’s transactions, someone will try to wall it off… Then comes the question of why one cannot loot these “Crom Coins” off corpses in PvP…
And yet, taking a coin with no value in the world and trading it to a shady figure (who may or may not be related to a monarch who wears saffron robes) for unnatural knowledge gained without learning would be more immersive…

I dont think Funcom wants it to be thievable in the pvp context. You can imagine someone has a bunch of coins they havent yet spent because they have a bunch left over from buying the largest value pack. Also CE isnt an mmo or rpg which is why we don’t have quest givers and the like, so I imagine the idea of integrating the purchases into the game would give joel and den intense gastric distress… its just a way to supplant the dlc method in an unobtrusive way. When we’re in the game, we’re barbaric gods, but when we’re shopping… well, we’re something else. Consumers.

Disagree. with the second point. This game was built of purchase of the game and then dlcs and maintained by mainly dlcs.

This is all of course beside the point of the OP . The currency will and does leave a bad taste in many players mouths. The name itself of the currency again (and again and again, etc.) is the issue really. It runs cross to the lore of the game. The Bazaar is fine it is the coins of a god that would be possibly angered by their creation would be enough to give pause to most merchants risking its use in the Conan Universe.

Which is why they aren’t in the universe. They are in a virtual store…

And Exiles is?

This one did note it was a very bad idea.

That said, all consuming entities and barbaric gods are not mutually exclusive.
Have you worshipped Yog today?
Are you a people person?

I havent tithed Yog in awhile. I think his favorite sacrifice is cheetos.

That still is not relevant. What is relevant is the names.

Bazaar implies Turan or Afghulistan.
Black Lotus implies Stygian.
Crom implies Cimmerian.

Why would a company what goes out of it’s way to make the game be as lore friendly as possible create a cash shop with a currency that is so utterly idiotically named as this? There could have put even an ounce of effort into it and made a better name than this.

Guess I missed the Battlepass of Hyborea.

Or the point of anything apparently.
