Almost bought the siptah map and few skins, no way that’s happening when you cant even play the game if servers have more than 5 people. Can you even legally sell this game as multiplayer with this crap ? Imagine buying a car, it shows up with 3 wheels. Yeah technically its a car and can move.
They can legally sell it as multi-player because it does work as multiplayer. They aren’t responsible on the server side of things. They just make the game. Its up to Gportal and the other hosts to fix the lag.
Clearly something about their servers hates it when more than 8 people connect. Whats important to note is that its being worked on and will be resolved. They arent keeping us out of the loop.
maybe gportal is part of the issue but its not the core of the problem. Proven by lag on every private server using other hosting
I really enjoy the game and keep playing every day, even with the current lag. But denying the problem doesn’t help at all. It’s not something exclusive to G Portal: private servers are also facing issues, including those with top-tier hardware, like the one I play on. Minimizing responsibility only harms the game’s development. So yes, there is a problem that goes beyond server hardware.
Will they fix it in the short term? I hope so, but Honestly I doubt it, because if it were simple, it would have already been done. Still, I hope I’m wrong and that they find a solution soon.
yep, I heard that. But is it also true for a server I set up at my house for example? Or is it just different server host companies?
Yep, I have serves with GTX Gaming. They performed perfectly well, seldom had any issues, including lag, with UE4. Now that UE5 is entrenching itself, reports of "offline mode’ and mods killing Server RAM, and fail messages (server is high end). Nope, I do not think there is a ‘Fix’ to this issue. Tickets can be closed, but they don’t offer solutions. “Go upgrade your system” is not a solution.
Revert to UE4 version though, could be?
There is that.
Oh dont get me wrong, Paul.
Im not lessening their part at all. Im just simply pointing out the fact that you can in fact play online with other people is a perfectly valid and legal reason for them to call it a multiplayer game.
I just thought the OP was being a bit hyperbolic when talking about the legality of it.
Host it, let 20+ players join, observe the lag happening.
It’s clearly a software issues.
But I also do not want to defend what G-Portal offers as “game server”.
I actually asked that quetion in another thread and nevr got a response But OK, a combination of both then.
Yeah, official servers die with 15+ players online.
Good private servers can maybe sustain 30 players before turning into the same lag-mess.
no
No, it will not be fixed. The game is 8 years old and you can find people complaining about the lag, in every consecutive years since the game released. What’s that tells you? Since enhanced came out, I just login to reset decay timer, I can’t do anything else.
1 month without a proper update except showing a fake latency in the server browser.
To me it looks like the goal was just to provide a product that people want to play and then outsource the server hosting to private hosts, or hope that it attracts enough solo/coop players
Me logging in.
1: Kicked, wrong version battleye.
2: Lost connection to server.
3: Stuck at 1% loading server. End task. {where I’m setting right now}
4: In and playing.
And if I get on before the daily restart, I’ll have to go through that twice.
But the lag right now is really no different then it ever has been, so I’m really not sure what they have accomplished. May simply have put a lot of effort in to getting the game running as well on UE5 as it did UE4. They seem to have accomplished that, but that is nothing to brag about.
I’m not an expert on this, but I’ll comment on what I’ve observed.
The “LAG” only exists when we’re actually trying to connect to a server in another region. Although it shows a high ping on servers in my region, most of the time it’s just an outdated number; in this case, that would be a game error in keeping the value updated. I’ve connected to servers with ping 600+ that ran very well.
Now, in the case of GPortal servers, I suspect they are limiting the hardware or sharing the same server for other purposes. I’ve done tests where my response time with their servers was between 30ms and 40ms (monitored in real-time during the match), and it was clear that the NPCs weren’t having the same response time as me.
Then I joined a private server hosted by 4netplayers and noticed the difference, playing with more than 30 people on the server, and everything continued to run very well.
Regarding the problems with BattleEye, yesterday several friends were experiencing the same issue reported here, and they all resolved it by repairing the game (verifying Steam files), restarting the modem, and restarting the computer (in that order).
Single Threading and there are 2 culprits.
Two elephants trying to go through a single window at the same time.
No, make that a pack of elephants.
Does that say anything?
