The first school, which I’m more apt to believe, is a bunch of trolls who want to make the game community look more toxic than it actually is. I have grown to hate what this game has become, yes, but I still have friends who talk about it every day and arrange raids. I read the forums still because there’s a part of me that wants to share in their hope, but I continually get disappointed.
The second school is that there are those whose identity are so tied to this game. This game IS them. So any insult upon the game is an attack upon them. I come to this conclusion because for some people who have left their comment sections on in the Steam reviews for SWL, there were those that would jump in and just insult the hell out of anyone giving negative reviews.
Oh, I’m sure there are other reasons, but these are the ones that first come to my mind when I see whole threads that are nothing but “this was flagged as not useful.” Pilch has it right that people are going to just click on “read anyway”.
Now with that out of the way, Halloween? No. I may pop on to see how many people are parked around the portal to fight Jack. Maybe see if there’s something new (or imported back from TSW), but that would be the extent of it.
Well said, @Dollywood. (It’s good to see you around, by the way.) I’m sure most people know that I really want to see content (both new and returning) come to SWL, although after so many months of nothing new, I have my concerns. However, I have tried to throw myself more into working with my cabal, which is something I love. I realized that as long as Funcom decides to keep the SWL servers running, there will be new (and returning) players who decide to give SWL a try. I want to be there for them to help them enjoy a game that I think is really, really awesome. So I guess I have gone through the stages of grief so that I have come to some kind of acceptance.
As far as Halloween goes, it will be a really important test for the future of SWL. The Secret World is famous for its Halloween missions. If there is nothing new for Halloween (or we just get some new Aurum-only agents), it will show that Funcom really isn’t invested in the game very much. So I will be watching and waiting. Let’s hope they bring back at least one of the classic Halloween missions from TSW, and maybe even some awesome new content like we got for the winter holiday.
I keep wondering if anything will be tied in to the game regarding MoM. Like the Park and Hide & Shriek tie-ins for TSW. Not that it would quell the baying mob, but it would at least be cool and perhaps generate interest in SWL from a new crowd?
But that’s not from Funcom, so Funcom may as well have figured it’s cheaper to pay a contractual penalty (if there was any) than to divert development resources.
So there’s totally hope MoM gets a tie-in ! Ok, considering Funcom didn’t bother to give their two year old some new toys for the birthday, maybe not.
if i recall didnt andy mention something about talisman imbuers were planned at a later date or was i completely drunk when i read that ? ( i dont mean Talisman imbuers at time of Dark agatha but a post he made soon after DA went live stating they had plans for that , well that was the impression i got from reading it ) around the time of Dark Agatha going live or soon after ? or was that just another red herring to keep us hanging around?
From what I remember and take it with a grain of salt that was the assumption for the next logical step by the community. I don’T remember anything official saying they want to do talisman imbuers next…however my memory gets hazy on such things over time and it has been a while.

It brings joy to my black heart when people complain about F2Pers. As if they’re the cause of all the problems in an MMO world! I’m guessing it’s along the lines of “If we don’t throw money at Funcom, they won’t give us more!”
Many of the principles in the F2P market are exactly what they in college instruct teachers in for classroom behavior management. If these techniques didn’t work, people wouldn’t employ them.
Watch what you say or he’ll tell you that it’s against the rules to out someone as having multiple accounts (happened to me ingame :V no consequences yet but maybe customer service is just backed up)
Oh, you too? Did they also say they had a file on you and had been collecting your information and posting on the curse forums their detailed list because naming and shaming is allowed there?
Nobody likes having action taken against them, and sometimes people make a secondary/alt account to bypass a suspension and start posting about it. Please don’t do this. Any account seen doing this will be permanently banned on sight, and may result in additional actions against the original poster.
