Wineceller Thag needs nerfing. Impossible or insanley hard since age of war

:100:

Thanks, that was awesome! I actually learned something I didn’t know: it looks like you can make your followers drink elixirs and get buffs from them?

Also, OMEGALUL seems to perform much better than I expected from all the constant complaints about pets. He’s still significantly weaker than a thrall, but he’s not “useless”, as people like to say.

It was extremely interesting to see a build so different from any of mine: no grit, only 10 vitality. I got to see Rolling Thrust in action and I really liked what you can do with it.

Once again, thanks!

She ain’t gonna see the wine cellar

Even if i know i can protect her .

iirc you can make them “drink” Aloe Potions to heal as well
Or at least you could several patches ago :+1:

Greater Sabretooth is okay-ish itself, but what really saves the day is Well-Trained giving both HP & Armor, and full follower damage buffs!
Basically, without Authority a Thrall is much better than a Pet, but the gap closes quite a bit with Authority.

On the other hand, when guarding, Pets will really lack damage, and without Well-Trained’s armor they can melt in seconds no matter their HP, or at least that’s how I view it because I didn’t try to let pets defend a purge since AoW :+1:

You still can, at least when it comes to thralls. I haven’t used pets in ages.

And not only potions, you can make them use bandages, too.

But for some reason, I’ve never tried elixirs to buff them.

If you go in there with a good thrall and the server doesn’t act up, the dungeon is too easy. If everything goes well, unless we are completely oblivious of our thrall, we won’t lose it. If the server acts up, anything can happen. It goes for this dungeon or anywhere else in the game, when I think about it. Once I lost a thrall in New Asagarth. New Asagarth, ffs!
She got stuck on a corner near a slope. I wasn’t paying attention and then I saw the message. She probably had a brain fart and totally blocked.

It works. Almost everything works if you make them use it manually.

■■■■ I wouldn’t take her either!

Not sure if anyone said as much yet, but with OP’s latest picture, it kinda looks like the thrall is carrying daggers? If that is true, could provide some info for the the struggeling.

Holy shit, I totally missed that. No wonder their thrall is struggling. Thrall AI doesn’t handle daggers well to begin with, but what makes the situation even worse is that we’re mostly dealing with the undead here. :man_facepalming:

Good catch!

Also add an Agility Weapon with a Strength Armor :notlikethis:

I had a teacher in college who used the expression “it’s so bad, it doesn’t even qualify as wrong”.

That does not matter though… Like it has been pointed out many times in the past, the game should NOT be designed for a broken, non-functional environment. :man_shrugging:

And I understand that this sucks for those playing on officials (especially for those on consoles where there are even more bugs)… but it’s the servers that need to be fixed… and NOT the game purposely broken to match them…

So asking for a nerf based on the poor performance of official server is equally bad form as asking for one because you’re too stubborn to take advice and improve.
(Also, we both know that people complete that dungeon on officials just as well… @CodeMage did every attempt on there for example and @stelagel you often do it as well  )

Anyway, I know you weren’t suggesting this, since you clearly said you don’t want nerfs either, I am just repeating this for the sake of others, because it needs to be said very loudly so it sinks in for some people
TLDR: If the servers are broken… the servers need to be fixed… and not the game brought down to their level

Hold on there… A couple of big cats received a sizeable health buff in one of the last few updates… that same kitty would’ve had like 3k health at most at the end of AoS.

Sabertooths are also one of the few that are still incorrectly using the attacks of the untamed alpha variants :stuck_out_tongue: If not for the bug their attacks would do roughly 30% of what they do in that video.

So it’s still not all nice and jolly for animal companions… but indeed they at least got some more HP now so they don’t fold instantly. (a bit too much if you ask me… I’d rather cut the HP, increase the armor and damage a tad bit :stuck_out_tongue: like… this is just the typical “Funcom balancing with a bucket”… that’s why we have horses with more HP than any boss atm lol)

Yeah, I can see how what I said would cause that reaction.

Let me clarify: I did not intend to make it sound like I don’t think pets need to be buffed and rebalanced. I was just expressing my surprise at the performance of that one particular pet, since I haven’t used pets for a long, long time.

Nice run, now do it on official with 15+ people online, and do a random dc in the middle for realism. - Waiting for the video.

This dungeon including Thag can be done fairly easily with warparty and corrupted authority too. In AoS and AoW I run 2 geared zerkers wearing all str% gear with str elixirs and momentums (i used tenderizer pre AoW). They typically kill him with only 1 are phase and 1 skeleton phase though sometimes the skeletons are still up when he dies.
The only thing of note for fighting him this way is you need to be on your toes during the ages because they hit hard. They won’t 1 shot you but they will 2 shot you if you get hit a 2nd time before the thralls heal you.

I typically run:
Str: 0
Agi: 0
Vit: 15 (15 corrupted)
Auth: 20 (19 corrupted with warparty)
Grit: 10
Exp: 15

For gear I usually wear Ranger armor for the +agi dmg and stamina on every piece.

For thrall gear I use Executioner’s hood, dragonbone ribs, godbreaker gauntlets, and hyperborean pants and boots.

This isn’t even a pure damage build its an all rounder so I don’t have to swap builds to farm or do dungeons and bosses.

How about this: if what @SpherisCore showed in the video doesn’t work for you, feel free to try one of the variety of other ways described by several different people in this thread. And if none of that works for you, ask yourself why.

I’ve personally posted 3 different ways to do it, and I play on an official PVE-C server with more than 10 people online during the “prime hours”. Both of the Pokemon-style runs that I described were done during PVP hours, with my thralls suffering friendly fire from me, and occasional lag spikes.

So no, “hE diD tHaT iN SiNgLePLaYeR” is no excuse.

PS: Nerfing the dungeon because the official servers are shіt or because the game suffers from random crashes and disconnections is crappy game design.

Just tried the wine cellar for the first time during AOW and my experience is that the dungeon is now way too . . . . . . easy. I loved the wine cellar during AOS because it made me nervous. Even with 2 level 20 RHTS it was not a sure thing and death was always a possibility. I just ran it with a level 20 Brute and Ritualist. I spent most the time getting to the end looking for chests and steel while letting the thralls clear the way. Thag was easier than before. We tripled teamed him at the start and he barely had any time to move before he teleported to the middle to ring the bell. The third time he rang the bell I broke off to deal with adds and thralls finished him off soon after. At no point did I feel in danger of getting killed. One thrall finished with full health the other was only missing 10%.

With that said, I want to say I just didn’t waltz into the wine cellar. I did a lot of prep with leveling and equipping thralls. I’m not going to post what I did since there is a plethora of good tips already in this thread. The Wine Cellar is dungeon that is no longer feared.
