Woke up dead - lost everything

Game mode: Online official #1025
Type of issue: Bug / Misc
Server type: PvE
Region: EU

Twice now, my wife has logged in only to find that her character had died in his sleep and lost everything he carried.

Each time she logged out in her base, and when she logged in the next time, the character is dead.
I am aware there may not be anything to be done, but it would be nice to know if there is something that can be done to avoid this.

A reimbursement would certainly be nice.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Go to base
  2. Log out
  3. Log in the next day
  4. Begin collecting all materials for new gear

That’s normal. Check your server’s parameters.

No, that is most certainly not normal. She logged out in her base, and when she logged back in, her character has died and everything was gone.
This in on a PVE server, so she could not have been killed by an intruder.

For one animals can glitch partially thru the walls and another suggestion is to make a chest and put everything in that chest. Now another thing to consider is what is location you built and out of what materials there have been instances in cold regions after you log out you can still die of frostbite even in your base same with volcano and heatstroke I know its not supposed to happen but have heard many instances that it has also building with wrong type of resist mats can cause that problem as well have found though putting things in chest from exp on pve-c server saves headache and heartache of losing things.

Yes, the chest is a possible work-around, but it seems to me that it is bug that needs fixing.

when you log off perk 3 of vitality do not work anymore, so no more passive regenaration.

and so if you log off with the wrong gear on you in a very cold or very hot area, you will simply die, as passive regeneration will no more compensate.

I have seen this happen a lot! It is usually due to having the wrong temp resist armor on during log off.

I Also set my private server settings for idle food/water consumption to be slow and take a long time because some of my players woke up dead. It fixed the problem.

Well I guess I’m not building in harsh temperature areas…

Maybe you should state where you build your base, with what mats, and what armour you was wearing when this happens.

Cold or hot may interact here.
Make a small room, without any windows, just the needed size, put a bed, a chest, stuff inside, LOCK chest ! then log-out.
See what happens.

I’m not anymore on that kind of server, but hunger and thirst could kill you too?

I never said she was killed by an intruder. And i was pointing out the unconsciouss timer.

Cold or heat most likely is the issue here, log out naked and put your stuff in a box to be sure

No, hunger/thirst will not kill while offline. But heat/cold can.

If heat/cold is an issue even when logged out, then that should most definitely be classified as a bug, especially since it is not an issue when awake. The base is just north of Oasis of Nehket. T3 materials and armor is Stygian Soldier, which is heat resistant, so that is not an issue.

I simply do not believe there is any way this could be happening legitimally, it has to be some kind of bug. If not a bug, then at the very least undesirable behavior.

To be frank, I am only interested in seing this issue being acknowledged in some way by Funcom.
Since Funcom has not seen fit to invest in a helpdesk system of any kind, this forum is my only means of communication. I can only hope that Funcom actually monitors this forum.

Silly question, what does your player log report for that time? Make sure you activate all filters and be nearby where you died.

That is actually a very good question, which I hadn’t thought about. It is now too late to find out as there are too many log lines. I will keep it in mind for the next time it happens.

Edit: We managed to reduce the log lines so we could get back to the point in time my wife logged on. The log says nothing relevant, unfortunately.

Yeah, but that is just a work around, and an annoying one at that. But apparently it is necessary.

that’s alot like saying I have herpes…but i’ve had it for awhile so its kinda ok-ish…it shouldn’t have to be learned behavior to live with a thing like that…it should be fixed

You can eigther adapt and take advice from more experianced players, or you can continue prowing Darwin right and stay on about shouting bugs etc, your choice.
