Xbox Halloween Update (31.10.2018)

Well our suffering may not be over because they may never patch this out because here it is the 7th and we have had no word from them about what is going on

This familiar feeling of getting screwed over by devs gives me 7DTD flashbacks
I have a feeling this game will be deleted from my console quite shortly.

Close to doing so myself the last text I seen something about this issue was day before yesterday and they said the event will be removed “this week” not Nov 6 like it was promoted and advertised
so we are stuck with an event that pretty much makes this game unplayable for so many and no official update as to what is going on at least the funpimps are still keeping in touch and trying to work something out

While the Halloween event was fun (for a time), I was hoping that it would be over when I logged in this morning.

Here are some suggestions/comments on the event

First I play on the PC (Solo-Player), Xbox Private Server, and Xbox (Solo-Player) games -

Comments:

PC (SP)

  • meteor showers were approximately 20 minutes apart
  • meteors were always where the pink mist was showing.
  • eternal twilight was perfect not too dark.
  • game ran without noticeable lag.

Xbox (Private Server)

  • meteor showers were approximately 20 minutes apart
  • meteors WERE NOT always the the pink mist was showing.
  • eternal twilight was TOO dark. There were points at night where we could not see anything but a black screen.
  • game ran some lag.

Xbox (SP)

  • meteor showers were approximately 60 SECONDS apart
  • meteors were always the the pink mist was showing. I really could not tell if any were missing as the next shower always eliminated meteors from the previous shower.
  • eternal twilight was borderline too dark. There were points at night where we could not see anything but a black screen.
  • game ran some lag.
  • game also randomly kicked me out to the main Xbox screen where I would have to choose what game to play - such as Conan Exiles, SW Battlefront II, etc

Suggestions:

  • Obviously work on the issues stated above where applicable.
  • Run future events for 3 or 4 days (or a weekend only) instead of 6 or 7 days.
  • Make it a TRUE TRICK or TREAT. By this I mean, when you open a meteor you either get random goodies or a random monster appears - such as imp, spider, scorpion, snake, etc.
  • Add some more raw materials in the drops - such as crystals, branches, plant fiber, berries, etc.

That being said, we did have fun chasing the meteors and thought it was a fun diversion for a period of time.

When will the darkness end? It said till Nov 6. It’s still dark. When will it go back to normal daylight?

They’ve removed it from PC. It won’t be long until the update drops on xbox one now.

Like hours or days?

@Klondike Obviously I’ve got no way of knowing. But I’d guess it’s likely to be hours or less. They won’t wait days to do it.

Thank u for getting back to me to quickly.

The problem with events like this (and turning them off, in this case) where it requires a client-side change is that it needs to go through the re-certification process for the consoles. PlayStation can be fairly quick, within a day or so. Microsoft’s certification process seems to be much more involved, and can take upwards of a week, depending. I don’t think it’s going to take a week, but it’s not going to happen in a couple of hours.

Funcom’s implementation of this event has, frankly, been terrible. It should have been something that could be completely controlled from the server-side, and environmental changes that could be disabled from the client (particularly for the visually impaired, they broke about every “accessibility” rule there is with this mess).

I, too, wish this thing would end. I found a spot where the meteors drop every 20 minutes, on :15, :35 and :55, and I built a little house with storage boxes nearby. Now I’m up to my ying-yang in mats.

There’s finally some hope for 7DTD now it seems  On Xbox ofc. PC never had hopelessness

When is the Halloween event going to end on XBOX 1 single player? It is the 8th and I am starting to get a headache every time I play due to the darkness, and I want to do more exploration but everything is too dark. It really needs to end and maybe you shoud put an option on the settings for the next one so we can end it ourselves.

Hey all! quick update:

We’re working on rolling out the patch to remove the Halloween content on consoles, but unfortunately it’s taken longer than we would have liked. We understand your frustrations and we apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have this taken care of as soon as possible

Garbage. How it goes longer then it was slated makes no sense. I boght this game brand new (which I never do) two weeks ago
get really into it
and then this happens. Its mind-boggling how a game company of the stature of Funcom could have this happen. How having it too dark to play was a good game plan seems like a deliberate act of sabatoge to your fan base. Its just
weird. And super f’ing frustrating.

Dear Tascha, I tried plugging my keyboard to my xbox1 and it won’t recognize it! I love Conan Exiles! But it’s almost un playable now in sp! I was experiencing lag and crashes before this update! Not much at first the game would run smoothly but when I started to build alot
A pyramid half the size of a mountain  it started to lag then freeze then hardcrash, more often then should be! Is there anyway that you or someone could see at least for the single player game should a build limit be implemented? Oh yeah and I have about 30 thralls too! I role play
this game is awesome I just wish it would stop crashing please help

They should care, my friend this is their game! Their creation! Their work of art! And it’s un playable! The Halloween update just made the game more unstable!. I’m trying to figure out what is causing this game to crash. We all are up here to help one another! Not to be toxic! CROM doesn’t have to care my good friEND! I don’t care for crom👌

Oh I can be toxic. I’m paid for this game and I pay for xbox gold. I’m Chernobyl over here
but in Fungags defense it’s probably more Microsofts fault then anything else. Cheers bro
have fun when it works again:+1::crossed_fingers:

I wouldn’t lay this on Microsoft. However, if the reason for the delay is really because they’ve fixed the post-update bugs that were introduced with the PC version and needed to re-submit for certification, I’d be more okay with that. But their communication skills about this stuff tends to be lacking (or unnecessarily vague, at least).

So who knows? It is what it is, I suppose.
