Right off the bat, I see the stick of closing (“trimming”) servers in the near (tone) future. No more details except there will be details sometime before. So removing usually is negative to most people so that is why I referred to this as a stick (negative to who do not know the reference).
You added a stick now already so we need a specific carrot now already . In other words give some good news now to go with the bad news we got already.
The good news is that the new server people are moved to will have more activity and you will have whatever you can carry. No longer confined to a mausoleum!
This would be good if the player(s) wanted to be moved in the first place. Only confined if that is not what they wanted.
By Carrot I meant an improvement being added to the game message to offset the pruning of available servers to play on. We received a negative message to the game (removing is negative most times) now we need one of those “exciting” things being added be announced to offset the negative.
I’m hoping that the “carrot” is improved server performance. Condensing the servers is a move in the right direction, so now we just need to see better servers that can handle the load.
Agreed. Server perfromance improvement is a result of the pruning of the servers.
As I said (again), we have already received the negative so it is not unreasonable to receive now a positive message to offset. “Soon” is not good enough to be honest as “soon” being far off being a tradition.
Same as before and didn’t read my post as before and no new ground covered again. It seems you are content to just take what is given to you with no questions asked, fine. If you want a reply more than this add something new to the discussion.
The request was made and that is all that was needed . Your response wasn’t really one, it was in essence take what it is given and keep your mouth shut. I await your next repeat of this in your next reply.
Understood, that is why I said they gave the stick immediately , but said later date on the carrot . All was asked for was a postitive posted at the same time as the negative . Is it unreasonable to have a balanced message?
Well when it comes to development, things are subject to change.
So it is reasonable to wait to announce things until they are near ready to launch.
At the same time, they gave two weeks notice to the players on the effected servers.
So No a balanced post is not unreasonable it just may be unfeasible at this time.
If they had waited for a balanced post, what would happen to those on the effected servers?
Hey guys, your server will shut down tomorrow. sorry we didn’t tell you last week, but Sairdontis wanted a “balanced post”
They could also schedule the move 2 weeks after information was given.
They chose to give the negative with no positive attached to offset. It is of course their decision to whatever they want with their property. It is also of course players decision on how they spend their money on any future dlcs or expansions based on the respect extended to them by the vendor of a game.
The carrot and stick request was based on a PR balance response.
Patience has limits and respecting those limits is critical.
It was not again not added at the beginning. You can keep trying to make this sound unreasonable and continue to fail at it.
If you add something thing bad you need to add something good to the same message otherwise, what you say will be seen as bad. This is common sense and it is sad that this needs to be explained and worse defended in anyway.
Also, enough with the baiting it gets tiresome, but I am used to it on these forums, though.
People dont have to always agree with you. Thats why its a forum. Your argument may not be as solid as you think it is. Your premise that good must accompany bad is flawed. They knew they were going to shutdown servers on a given schedule and they figured the best course is to give people a head’s up and a mitigation plan as soon as possible. This didnt align with the new stuff, clearly, but servers cost them money and giving good news with bad just didnt work out (apparently). Time to let go of the “stick” and realize that people can disagree with you, and in this case, the people disagreeing are born out by the situation. Not liking it is of course reasonable to an extent, but things are moving ahead regardless. Its Funcom’s business and they know when the time is right for other announcements and clearly that time is not today.
