I haven’t addressed this issue before because there were so many more important fixes to handle. Of course, plenty of issues remain, but I’d still like to draw attention to this bug (or is it not a bug?).
All my old thralls transferred from UE4 now have gray hair, regardless of how I originally acquired them—whether by knocking them out or by freeing them from cages during a purge.
The new thralls I capture (whether broken on the Wheel of Pain or freed from cages) all have lovely hair in various colors. I’ve included screenshots below.
Could someone explain: is this intentional, or is it a “side effect” of the transition that will be fixed?
It’s a side effect of hair now having two shades instead of one. So all the old thralls have been left with white (default) as their ‘second’ shade. It would have been better if they had just left them with one shade (which based on character creation is still possible). Unfortunately, I’m not convinced there is going to be a solution now. But still probably worth reporting to helpshift, in case they can do something about it. (I’ll add it to the player-maintained list, if it’s not already on there).
it’s a bug and i wasn’t happy with it. But on the other hand, it could as well be decided to be a feature of something you could call “Legacy thralls”, the OG’s who’ve seen some s**t XD
Unfortunately, I don’t like this, because now they all just have gray hair, and I want them to have different hair colors. I’m replacing my old thralls whenever possible, but that will take a huge amount of time… That’s why I really hope the developers take note of this and fix it…
The disparity between the two different player bases within this game is absolutely insane. On one hand, You’ve got PvP players fighting for their existence against hackers and cheaters & the other is complaining about thrall hair coloring and battle pass storage boxes.
Frankly, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised to see this ‘issue’ become a priority hotfix.
Everyone has their own game. Both you and I spent money to buy this game. Do you think your problems are more pressing? Why? How are you better than me?))
It might become a priority probably because PvE / RP crowd is the main source of revenue. I’m quite sure PvP crowd is much less likely to buy BLB stuff.
Also, fixing something like hair is much easier than dealing with cheaters.
Go play Rust or something for the time being. I heard it’s definitely not full of cheating psychopaths
What?
I said PvP crowd is LESS LIKELY TO BUY CRAP FROM LOTUS BAZAAR.
I don’t have any data, but it’s obvious because PvP player doesn’t care about stupid decorations if his base can get destroyed at any moment.
Therefore Funcom prioritizes the PvE / RP crowd because that’s where the money is at.
That’s completely untrue. PvP is the ‘Full experience’ of the game. Every PvPer I know has purchased items off of the bazaar, most own all of the DLC’s. Again this is about ‘feelwings’.
Speaking of which, one of the moderators removed my post - and marked it as “off-topic”. Probably one of those weirdo RP sext people that I mentioned. Or maybe, they didn’t like the fact that I pointed out a similar game that has more of a PvP focus and 10x the audience that this one has.
Look, it’s not ‘feelwings’, it’s logic. Sometimes though, logic doesn’t correspond to reality. That’s why so many perfectly logical arguments philosophers would make throughout history, turned out wrong. It was perfectly logical when Aristotle claimed that the Earth was the center of the universe, for example.
You, on the other hand, claim that you know people who play PvP that also purchase Bazaar items. And i have no other option but to simply trust you.
If you’re telling the truth, that’s cool, but it’s still only anecdotal. Neither you or me have access to the real Bazaar stats
I believe all players are equal and have their own preferences. One person may value one thing, another another, and it’s not even a matter of debate.
As for the Bazaar, I appreciate the work of the artists who create such beautiful creations, and I’d love to see much more in the future.
but it is a matter of debate because @Mozzie is arguing that Funcom neglects serious issues on PvP servers (cheaters) and instead tends to listen to complaints about, from @Mozzie 's point of view, completely unimportant issues.
I tried to come up with a hypothesis that it’s because a typical PvP player cares much less about shiny nice things from the Bazaar than a typical PvE / RP player does. For which @Mozzie proceeded to mock me for ignorance and such, while completely missing the fact that i was just genuinely trying to find an explanation for what is happening, i.e. that the developer is more interested in fixing PvE related issues than PvP; and i wasn’t dismissing his/her complaints.
Let me clarify again: I believe that people’s tastes and priorities are not a subject for debate. Everyone has their own values, and all players are equal.
I don’t know what the developers pay more attention to and what they do; I’ll leave that to the experts.
Players have the right to report their problems and bugs in the game; all of that is important.
I appreciate the work of the people and artists who create the Bazaar. I knew PvP players who, on the PvE server I played on, built bases using DLC and Bazaar items.
But I don’t know the purchase statistics either.
I agree with you that a beautiful castle and a fortified citadel that is constantly attacked and destroyed are different tasks for a builder. And the principles behind their creation are also different.
I left a private server with default settings. I play solo to fully create an environment that’s comfortable for me. Yes, I left to build and install mods. I’ve had enough of the regular game.
I’ve been working for a long time and know how important it is for employees to be paid well and on time. Server rentals and the Bazaar bring in money.
Not every playstyle is equal because some playstyles lead to more spending which may result in the developer tending to please those kinds of players and not other kinds of players. Idk what’s so hard to understand about the concept that an RP / PvE player is MORE LIKELY to buy pretty things whose only functionality is that they are pretty. What value do such things have for a hardcore PvP player?! I’ve seen how PvP guys play - graphics settings at Minimum to get FPS edge and building black ice boxes suspended on cliffs. They don’t care about pretty looks. They simply prefer functionality. The fact that you can sometimes meet PvP people on a PvE server building a palace with BLB/DLC items doesn’t mean that the core PvP people buy BLB/DLC nearly as much as RP/PvE people do. Is this just ‘Feewlings’? I’ve read posts in this forum made by angry PVPers spitting all over “stupid RP pervs” building what they called “barbie houses”. Read what @Mozzie said about the RP/PvE community as an example.
But yeah, i don’t have the actual data nor do you so it’s a speculation. I just thought it was pretty based.
I know that you have played or are playing WoW. I’ve been playing it for many years too. So that’s what I noticed. Those who shout that they are a real PvP or PvE “father”, a hardcore player and an outstanding player who throws mud at casuals (you know about Blizzard’s struggle with insults and rudeness) turn out to be not at all what they say they are.
I was familiar with real tops and cybersportsmen, and so, they were keen on pets and outfits for their characters, putting together collections. And they generally didn’t care who played how or what they did in the game.
To be honest, in WoW I respected those PvP players who fought in the arena. But those who were seen invisibility in the bushes in the open world and attacked the weaker ones after the mobs took away some of their HP, no one called them anything other than “rats”.
That’s becasue this is the same old PVP whining that always comes up. A certain type of PVP player believes (or claims to) that PVP should be prioritised at all times and unless all issues with it are fixed no effort should be put into anything else. This is because they don’t understand (or pretend not to) that different devs work on different things - there’s no point in expecting the art department to fix lag or hacking. Basically, it is just a dishonest tactic to try to gaslight the devs into throwing all their effort into what the PVPer wants. The reality is that, in addition to different departments working on different things, the devs are constantly working on trying to fix the things PVP demands, but some things are much harder to fix than others and, as a result, take more time. If the devs didnt care, they wouldn’t be working on incorporating Iris to improve the lag situation - this is requiring considerable extra effort (and creating multiple problems) to try to fix matters still being complained about. They are also constantly trying to overcome hacking issues, but again, this takes considerable effort because it is a constant arms race and cannot plausibly be expected to be fixed overnight.
The OP reported a bug. That is perfectly relevant. As players, when we find bugs, we report them. It is up to the devs when and how they fix them. No one should be entering other people’s threads to try to insist that their bugs should not be fixed.
