As has been discussed through the last few days, the issue of thralls having a 1 day decay timer was one that plagued entire communities and needed to be addressed. A rollback on the servers to before the timer was changed is by far the easiest, and fairest course of action, however this causes a fairly noticeable issue.
A large portion of the community is most active on the weekends- this weekend especially, given that it is a holiday weekend. To lose all progress from not just Sunday, but Saturday as well, is something that likely hit a large portion of the community.
I am not saying the rollback was the wrong call to make, as unfortunate as it is that it had to be done. What’s done is done, and it’s in the past now without any chance of reverting regardless of how many people (myself included) have lost days’ worth of time and farm. What I would like to suggest however, as an apology to the large number of players who are now affected by the rollback, is to increase the harvest rates for the next 3 days.
No, this will not fix everything that was lost- your base might still be gone, your character might not be fully leveled anymore, that sweet raid might still seem like it never happened. With an increase for harvest rates though, we the community, could more easily regain our lost farm. Yes, it will mean spending more time playing than we already have, but this is likely as close to a compromise as we could hope to come to.
I hope those at Funcom will consider this suggestion, and welcome anyone who has CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK to add their comments as well. This is not a place to argue about what was right or wrong, please remember this is a post aimed at mitigating the losses of our weekend community as much as possible.
Because people will have lost a wide variety of items and new thralls, doing this would unfortunately leave some people with far less than they had originally. I do agree if this were possible, it would also be a potential step in the right direction but only if the community was able to make a reasonable list of items for everyone to receive.
And wind up in the starter desert with 20 tons of stone in your inventory and nowhere to store it?
You’re really better off with an increased harvest rate for a while if your concern is getting mats back.
BTW @Annabelle1374 , I don’t think three days would really cut it. As you mentioned in your own post, there’s a lot of people who primarily play on the weekend. If they just gave three days of increased harvest rate, that would put it on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Sure, Monday is a holiday, but still there’s a lot of affected people who would likely miss out on such compensation under those conditions.
That’s true, but swift action is also important when it comes to these sorts of things… perhaps a planned increase to harvest rates for next weekend would be better, or just increase the rate through the next 7 days rather than 3? Just don’t want to get too greedy with it
How do you explain to someone who has lost a lot of thralls that he gets double or triple the stone wood for 3 days. You could set the rollback back by one day. I know a clan that lost 90 thralls, want to give them 1000 tons of stones,
I think they need to give a 3x harvesting rate but also give a good bump into named thrall spawn. These increases should last 3 weeks to a month. Also give thrall and player exp a bump as well. Its a good way to get the players who just started a chance to get back into quicker. Also I’m sure there are vets on all PVE servers in a better mood now who will be willing to help those who lost thralls due to the reset get new ones.
For those complaining about raids being upset I’m sorry but I’m guessing your raids where easier than normal because those bases had no thrall or pet defenders in them. You PVP for the challenge, so think of it as a practice run and conquer those people again.
Lol I’m a vet too, I had lost about 100 lvl 20 thralls so i was waiting to see what they would do before rebuilding but now im running around helping new players on the server rebuild or giving them named thralls that they got yesterday but arent there now. however it hard to replace everything so i think the increases i mentioned are a good way to help the players who were hurt by the roll back. Luckily they did it today instead of waiting till Tuesday, Monday is a holiday in the US so a lot of players can log in for longer on Monday too.
Not me but i’ve been reading a lot of threads. The people who are hurt the most now due to the roll back are those who started their progress on Friday or Saturday. If Friday night and Saturday are the only days those players get they are now screwed. As someone who has restarted numerous time I know I can be level 60 with a level 20 or two thralls in that amount of time, so it doesn’t hurt experienced players that bad but newer players who are experimenting or learning building mechanics for the first time will be extremely set back. The reason i said 3-4 weeks is that for most players is 3-4 good play windows.
I got back most of everything the rollback reset. Finished breaking a Berserker, only took two gruel, same as yesterday. Placed magenta dye in two radium torches. Added two blood flasks to a circle of power and six residents of Sepamaru to sacrificial stones.
Now to recraft a set of Redeemed Legion armor, farm a hundred fifty fur for seventy five layered and then five bulked plating.
I disagree, i’d say it was absolutely the wrong call. 2 days past is -way too late- to rollback. People who had lost thralls were already recovering, and there were certainly better solutions to restore them that wouldn’t wipe the progress of -everyone- over a holiday weekend.
A 2 day rollback for a functioning game is ridiculous. I want a funcom employee to spend 2 days rebuilding my newly designed layout that’s gone now. Absolutely livid about this decision.
**Yarddog68 is right. Some veteran players with lavish clans and resources should not demean the loss of people who just started playing, solo players, or any player for that matter. A weekend of farming for someone who just started playing or people who can only play during the weekends may not compare to 1/10 of what some clans and experienced players can do during the same timeframe, but that is not to say it is worth less. I agree that a few days of enhanced harvesting won’t cut it. Not only because of this weekend’s blunder, but also because of the decade-old bugs that are still plaguing this game. And instead of fixing it, Funcom folks start to pile up new things on top of a broken foundation, introducing even newer bugs in the process (animals that won’t render, most pickaxes won’t mine star metal, even worse lags, the list goes on). I would go for the full month of increased harvest rates, all thralls spawning as at least T3 (mostly T4s), and postpone the September 24 launch of chapter 2 until they have fixed at least the major existing bugs. I mean, if they were able to make a screw-up of epic proportions just by bringing the decay rate back to what it was before summer (in the north hemisphere), I am really fearful of the disaster that awaits with the launch of chapter 2…
