Bases lost on Official servers after Update

When you try to be helpful and explanin things, people always blame you as the one banning people. Regardless if you’ve just logged on for a couple of hours and caught the drama. You’ve proved my point and that’s why people don’t bother warning anybody.

I’ve never been on that server, just getting that out of the way.

Your comment reads like you’re implying you did. It is why I asked.

Unfortunately, you missed the main point but proved my second, so thank you.

No idea what happen there - but my base was gone - poof!

I know where im not putting my next base though! :smirk:

All my thralls are still there though and thats more important to me.

They are good for 14 days.

Meh- within 2 months ill have all my legendaries back and elite crafters. That particular server was weird though.

I will say no more about it.

Next!

Oh no I didn’t miss it I just didn’t address it yet. What is “massive” footprint?

Funcom giving information about ToC in the Motd wasn’t a thing until I and others pushed for it. It also used to be buried in the forums until it was asked to be pinned. Regardless, responsibility is still there.

It’s quite surprising how many players have now read the ToC and still don’t fully understand it. I still don’t; I’m also not stupid. That’s the beauty of the verbiage, it’s made that way so judge and jury can quickly make decisions with no oversight or fault. Click.

The ToC is highly debatable and up to interpretation. As such, when players ask why a warning isn’t implemented, it’s because it feels like a decision was made without fair judgement. You minimize what is being asked by claiming a warning in Motd is that warning, it isn’t. It’s there to inform players of their responsibilities by choosing to play on Officials. Not a warning to correct the offending behavior. This mechanism doesn’t exist but has been an oft requested feature.

Is performance actually better though? Again, never been there, don’t know the history. Only know that a lot of players were affected.

Just to be on the safe side, I would build something and put your thralls inside.

It can be, but ive got a pretty good idea what happen based off previous experience with online games. But im not saying it here.

My official position is- i was blocking resources. Temp ban. Since my account is in good standing, im going to keep it that way.

If you have a good idea that’s a step up from most.

But really, that statement is blanket to mean too much from what I’ve seen.

I guess you missed the pictures: Land Claim Abuse on Official Servers

I’m not going to debate the Funcom decision, my experience on this and other PVE servers is that they do their due diligence when making their decisions.

This is amusing.

I haven’t missed that. Been a part of the discussion for years.

Due diligence, investigation and acting accordingly is also debatable.

Did you know know Funcom doesn’t actually visit the servers? Some due diligence

Yep pretty clear to me.

I understand what you’re saying. Sure the blame game was annoying and sounds like that contributes to your lack of sympathy here. I don’t understand why everyone is being so hostile and aggressive over this though. I wasn’t even hit by the bans or wipes, I’m asking on behalf of others because I was also confused.

Since your post, I have gone and read all of the ToC, especially the section about building. The “overexpansion” and “footprint” rule you and others keep quoting is literally one sentence (excluding blocking progression and player entrapment, which the server agrees wasn’t a problem) and refers to “Constructions leading to loss of performance both on client and server side.”

My initial position still stands, and that is that the rules are very vague and ambiguous. I appreciate you mentioned and have tried in the past to warn others, but in my opinion, that’s not a sufficient warning as your first reply suggests.

People spent a significant amount of time on a server, had their stuff wiped. Again, many clans who kept to themselves. I don’t fully understand yours and the community’s reflex to get so arrogant about it.

“No excuses, understand you made a mistake and move on.” The argument isn’t that we are looking for excuses, its that many were confused about the reasoning originally.

I learned from the post, that’s what I wanted. Thank you for that part. But as someone who didn’t offend or lose anything, I would appreciate if you toned it down a bit. I can learn without the sass

True- yet i broke my own cardinal rule with THIS server- trying to be nice to someone.

I interacted with the community when i normally dont on any other server. When i say interacted i mean trading etc.

Now i got burned for it.

That wont be happening again - i assure you.

I won’t ask details, I hear you. But you broke YOUR rule? Meh… but if trading is what resulted in your ban, that’s disheartening. I am sorry it happened to you but I am hoping to learn what I can to avoid it also ever happening to me.

In my opinion it is INSANELY unfortunate that you can’t comfortably guide or interact with the community in a PvE server… I wish that wasn’t the lesson you learned but I get it. Seems this is a lot more sensitive than I initially thought.

Best of luck to you all. Sorry for causing a commotion with the post / question

In my experience and based on the research and keen interest on this topic from 2022 and onwards, sometimes it does not matter how much you think you’ve been a good little Exile.

My only advice is to do your best and accept that at any point on Officials being admin wiped and suspended/banned is a great possibility.

Exactly, it’s also my experience that most landclaim spammers will insult you when you tell them about the rules. I have no empathy in these cases.

Lmao i guess im too new to understand but this seems like a wildly sad take. Bummer either way.

Please tell me how to close this thread… comments for awhile now have not been informative or contributed meaningfully.

Unless you were built on the brimstone lake, Funcoms excuse of “blocking resources” is absolutely pathetic, since there is literally endless areas to gather resources.

The community has spoken loud and proud; this is the correct take. “be grateful you play at all on official servers and grin brightly when scolded.”

Well, despite everyone claiming to be so insightful, knowledgeable, and willing to spread their knowledge, what ive learned here from this post is from me doing my own research afterwards and reading official posts. Pretty obnoxious in my opinion. Seems most are more willing to call us out than help. And I remind you all again I wasn’t punished for anything, I personally didn’t offend or break any rules. So why the offensive tones an nature? I see no reason to keep the thread going.

Seems this community is both more cutthroat and unforgiving than I thought. How sad… you know who you are.

I joined a PvE hoping to see the opposite. Really disheartening, not like conan is a MOBA lol. Guess official isn’t for me, why play with a community so polarizing? Again, good luck to you all. I wish no ill will, but the communities response to such a simple question and thread is, frankly, pathetic. Maybe give Rust a shot.

Again, please tell me how to end this thread.

Yeah unfortunately on the forums here you’ll find a lot more people who will say “tough ■■■■, you broke the rules you live with it” then people who will be sympathetic to your cause.
