Or I can not.
Uh, yeah, life isn’t so simple for most people that they can just go get a weekend job mowing lawns or something. And depending on your circumstances $1200 is a lot of money to come up with for something like a new computer. Especially with disposable incomes evaporating like they have been.
Funcom doesn’t set the price so you’re barking up the wrong tree. The store and pricing is controlled by FC’s overlords Tencent in China who don’t care about your opinions only your money. So you have two choice fight you addiction to FOMO , or give in to it. The lesson here is self control.
There’s a major difference you’re leaving out. SWTOR you can sell or buy anything from the store on the Galactic Trade Market or via trade chat if you have the credits. It is an entirely different beast and has an entirely player based economy CE doesn’t. FC prevented that from happening long before being bought by TC when they removed tradable structure parts to force to buy the DLC’s. Welcome to the real world where everything costs something. No participation awards givin here.
$1299 or $73/mon for 18 months
$73/mon, or less than $20/wk, is very affordable. hell, find a bad habit that costs you more and kick it.
if you can’t find a side gig for $20/wk then maybe you’d be better off spending the time figuring out how to get that sorted instead of playing computer games.
I am guessing that you have Bad or No Credit rating or are not American age 18+. Hell I have a three year old stock Lenovo pc bought new for $600 from best buy back then that can play CE. BTW I am 52 retired and live off 1k a month and can still afford a new computer because I have a good credit score.
feedback @Community Conan Exiles bug
I don’t want to buy a gaming pc for one game, man… what part of that don’t you understand? If I had money to piss away, sure, maybe. But for this one game? No. Not to mention, I don’t have room to set up a pc in my place. Thanks, but no thanks. You’re trying to push your condescending ideas too hard and just coming across sounding like a dick. You’re barking up the wrong tree and I don’t give a flying f***, so just stop.
first, you’d gladly play on a modded server if i bought you a pc and when i show how affordable a top end machine is, all of a sudden you don’t have room and i’m being a condescending dick. you sound like someone who goes thru life blaming others and finding excuses instead of solutions… which is a much bigger problem then being stuck playing on a console.
Yeah… it was more meant to deflect your ridiculous attitude towards the actual problem pointed out in the topic. Your attitude was to “play on a modded server with a PC.” Look, I like the idea of mods, but I prefer to play on official servers… as do many others, including on PC. You can’t play mods on official and not everyone is wants to play solo or rent a server… or play on a rented server. The fact that you continued to push your useless argument in this topic is proof that your delusional attitude is extremely condescending towards people that don’t fit your ideal play style. You even go so far as to suggest to others to “go get a weekend job.” Look, I can afford one if I really wanted to. That being said, I don’t wanna buy a PC for a single game, let alone the game AGAIN. I’ve bought it a few times for others as well. So do us a favor and just stop. Please. It’s extremely annoying. You aren’t helping the topic… like at all.
Yes you can buy the premium items using in-game coins in SWTOR, but first someone has to buy it for real money and then place at auction house for X-in game credits.
Also SWTOR has completely broken economy because of credit seller websites.
Premium items at auction house are so expensive there is no way to gather these credits in a legitimate way, hence people buy in-game credits online on ebay and shady websites.
People who sell these premium items and all full time crafters who sell rare and expensive equipment are the credit sellers themselves.
So it’s circle of infinite self making money, you buy shady credits to buy premium item or endgame equipment, and the guy who sold you these immediately puts the money back on the website and waits for another customer.
This is so broken and f*cked up that the in game economy is dead. Devs fail to address this issue because of obvious reasons, they don’t play their own game or do not care, or it’s them who’s selling these credits on third party websites.
Thanks Crom we don’t have that ■■■■ in Conan.
In fact you are adding credence to my concern that mods are actively competing against FC’s bottom line and the potential and logical ramifications that lie there may spell out a different future.
True, but again, it only applies to offline and private servers. Official servers will never be able to have mods and there are still a lot who prefer them. That being said, there’s a lot of modded servers on pc and a dedicated player base as evident by the recent tot fiasco.
Again, Funcom knows when a person buys items and the environment they play in because you have to be in game. They know if you are on a modded server when you buy bazaar items (they could probably even tease out which ones…). I very much doubt if using mods means not buying bazaar content. Hell, I spend so much time making mods that I don’t play as much as I’d like and wind up buying my way thru the bp instead of playing thru it.
i play on a server with over 50 mods
i buy the battlepass every 3 months, and in the rare cases where a bazaar set interests me, i buy that too
and the server i play on, i know of a dozen ppl that do the same.
it’s a small sample size to be sure, but i think your concern that funcom is somehow anti-modding or is moving towards being anti-modding isn’t really based on anything. especially considering the long history that members of the dev team have with the modding community.
what are the two best dungeons in the exiled lands? wine cellar and warmakers? those were made by snowhunter, a modder whose modded dungeons were so cool funcom hired him under contract to make basegame dungeons.
ever heard of the funcom employee RobbTheSwede? Ever heard of the Savage Wilds map? Like, funcom employees are actively a part of the modding community. A funcom dev who actively mods in his spare time? And answers questions on the mod discord to help modders make modded content?
I don’t think the mods compete.
We have very few mods with clothing, I wish we had modders who make these entire wardrobes for Fallout 4 or Skyrim over here in Conan.
There are few mods with decorations, but most of them don’t fit to the lore anyway, these things are cool, but often are too modern or high fantasy. They are targeted towards author’s custom server and feel out of place in true Hyboria.
Here’s another suspicion I have. When/if the chapters ever stop, mods are going to be one of the things that keep people interested in the game (think Skyrim). The bazaar will undoubtedly still be up so the two will feed each other.
I wish there was someone making graphics overhaul for Conan same as they did for Skyrim. Modded Skyrim today looks better than the next official Elder Scrolls game is going to look.
Ok I’m not saying FC is anti modding. In fact they have been very open to modding. But when players are telling other players to avoid the revenue driving elements by using mods, it pits FC against the modders whether you or they like it or not.
This is the way I saw your argument, though I can see how it was taken the wrong way. Players shouldn’t be knocking others and telling them to buy a PC and get mods when we’re arguing about how overpriced the shop is. That’s counterproductive to the issues at hand. It solves nothing and only makes mods at odds with official content.
