True, of course. But given the description of the nerf (stamina, damage AND poison gone) and their track record, it’s perhaps not surprising to be worried, if one were a fan of the weapon. In my case it was just hanging (wrongly, see bug report) on my wall, and now it’ll probably never come down from there, so “meh”.
Testlive is a ground where we showcase new changes coming to the game for the community to try out and provide feedback. Those of you who feel inclined to try it out, or can, please do so and send us your constructive feedback about the claws and other changes included in that patch.
Thanks in advance.
So has anyone tested them yet I play on console so no testlive
Nope but I can make a video for you today
A little demonstration.
Ahh thank you … stam looks to be going down and no mods on … good enough for me lol …
I think the most important aspect is that you can’t apply poison or any mod kits.
Mod kits never worked…
You could apply poison to them before
Here is a before and after.
I think it’s an acceptable modification. I mean, come on…a player jumps and runs around like a wild man without losing any stamina? That’s just silly.
I think the changes are great and I HATE nerfing stuff. I mean, a player jumping and moving around like that without losing stamina for so long was ridiculous. This is more like I’d expect it to be.
Though i’m pleased to see the nerf, I do wish you couldn’t target lock with them either. A big part of their ability to cheeze is that they essentially turn you into a guided missile.
Side note: tbh I don’t support Target Lock at all on PvP Servers.
Totally fine with that lol, I consider a miss due to lag far more acceptable.
Right now two major things it does in particular are…
- Allows you to track targets in low visibility conditions, devaluing the darkness of night and other environmental effects such as the sandstorm.
(this in particular is why I also do not support the display of hp; if you’re tagged, the enemy basically gets nightsight/x-ray vision depending on the situation)
and
- Turns you into a guided missile with claws.
YES! 1000% True. Target lock needs to go. Total BS that someone that can’t see me can just target lock and know I’m there. I do it in caves all the time when my torch breaks etc. and agree it should not be there.
If PvE/RP players want it then as always I support that but for Purely PvP Servers I feel it needs to be toggled off unless of course it’s on a private server since there’s a server setting to disable/enable it.
On the topic of changing it however, I do like how your idea tones it down a bit and feel that would make for a good alternative especially if the devs were to want to preserve its current incarnation in some manner.
However, I feel that If the trouble is aiming ranged weapons then a light aim assist might be more appropriate. This would essentially aim your shots for you within a small space in the center of your screen but could be shook off by evading said area of view. What’s beneficial about this is that It would be automatic versus the manual lock and not hijack your camera. So while you would lose all tracking, you’d gain more freedom of movement, camera control and a more natural feel being one less mechanic a user has to toggle on and off.
Admittedly though, I feel Target Lock or some form of Aim Assist is still necessary for console users since it can be difficult to aim with a controller. So having either or both systems would probably be for the best in their case.
Side note: Might need some work though as the original soft lock was buggy, which is why the setting was disabled and doesn’t work anymore.
