If you want to discuss game design and balance, I’m always happy to do so. If you want to discuss different ways to role play in Conan Exiles, I’m also happy to do so. If you want to ask a direct question (e.g. “hey, is there a cure for hangover that isn’t Set antidote”) and I happen to know an answer, I’ll happily post it.

However, I’m not so happy when you frame the discussion in terms of game design, balance, and role-play, and then accuse people like me, who want to discuss that, of being “obsessively bent on winning a moot point” and “ad-hominem attacks”.

And I also don’t think we should spill that discussion into this one, but hey, it’s your thread, you decide if you want to derail it.

I’m not gonna comment on whether his comment was humorous, because that’s in the eye of the beholder, but what you’re consistently mistaken about is the idea that his comment was an attempt at RP. @Barnes wasn’t role playing in his comment, even though one of his subsequent replies is worded in a way that suggests he was. I suspect that was unfortunate wording, that’s all.

What @Barnes was trying to do is suggest a way that you could role play around this problem while waiting for it to get fixed. If you strip what he said of all attempts at humor and say it in the most straightforward words possible, it would be “Hey, while you’re waiting for a fix, why don’t you pretend that your in-game character is too strong for that shield?”

Let me start by restating that my argument in your other thread was that religions should have unique advantages. If not all religions have them, then the solution shouldn’t be to remove the advantages from those that have them, but rather to add advantages to those that don’t.

Now, if I understood you correctly, you’re asking me to defend the fact that Set religion is the only one that has a poison antidote that doesn’t make you drunk and that cures hangover at the same time.

My answer is simple: why does this need defending?

If we’re approaching this from the game balance point of view, I’ve already stated my position, i.e. that it’s fine if one of the religions has something you can’t get without it, something that no other religion has, as long as every religion has one such thing.

If we’re approaching this from the role-playing or lore point of view, I don’t see a problem with it, either. Contrary to what some people might think, there is no magical cure for hangover. You can treat some of its symptoms, at the risk of doing damage to your body, but you can’t actually make it magically go away in an instant. So if any in-game cure for it is clearly magical, why shouldn’t it come from a religion whose patron deity is associated with sorcery and poison?

I suspect that the answer to my counter-question is “because my character can’t drink a single alcoholic drink without getting a hangover later, and that’s fuсking stupid”.

And I agree. It’s stupid to get a hangover from one beer. So if we’re going to get up in arms about changing something, why not that?

Isn’t it funny how you making fun of me for using one animated gif at the end of a long and detailed reply is not an ad-hominem attack, yet my responding in kind by pointing out your own problems with communication is one?

Would it surprise you to find out that English is not my native language either and that I’ve been living in the US for less than 1/4 of my life?

But like I said when I responded to your attack with one of my own, I don’t really care about your English or your grammar or anything like that. Ask @stelagel if I’ve ever given him any shіt for not being a native English speaker. The difference is that @stelagel isn’t someone who immediately lashes out at others because they don’t agree (or don’t seem to agree) with him.

My argument is that a hangover cure, which any pothecary at the time would tell you just to drink a couple of drinks, the poison has no relevance to my argument whatsoever, I wholeheartedly believe Set followers should have the antidote to poison and the best poison exclusively.

I congratulate you thoroughly for your command of the English language being it not your mother’s tongue, and I envy you for your fluidity within it, I wish I could speak write like that… alas, I do not. Again, I acknowledge and addressed that. In fact, I dedicated most of the middle part of my post to just that. It all started with a simple question: why? What, exactly, is your objection to it? Is it balance? Is it lore? Is it role playing?

I wrote in detail about what I think about those questions. You don’t have to read what I wrote, but if you don’t want to read it, just let me know that’s the case, so I don’t spend my time trying to discuss this further. If, on the other hand, some part of what I wrote is unclear, let me know what, and I’ll try to express myself better.

I wrote that description in direct reply to your specific question – “what other religion has an item that is so crucial as that Antidote?” – and your reaction to that was to not only accuse me of not reading your posts, but to call me selfish.

Why you use this language against your co workers if you are really in this business? It’s obvious lack of professionalism. If devs give this example to the common players, don’t be surprised who destroyed forums and gamers behavior, it’s obvious!

There are plenty issues of this kind indeed and since this conversation started let’s give feedback i say.
The Aquilonian bath robe has holes on the left shoulder…
The female character with big sized breasts, through the ritual stone animation, the hands do not stop where they suppose to, but they go in the breasts like this volume doesn’t exist.
When it’s windy the clothes have free movement and pass from obvious obstacles (body parts - shields). Same happens with some banners, they ignore walls.
When your character sit in a throne and you rotate the camera you pass from a point that you see the eyeballs and the mouth of your character.

These are some of the plenty artistic issues this game has. And when i say some, i mean it, there are decades.
Yet i admire the work of the artists of this game and one of the greatest reasons i play this game is their job.

You generally do a better job than you may think of communicating your ideas - and that is all that language is for in the end. I certainly would never be offended by you trying to write English and getting something wrong - imagine what I would do to Greek

Anyway, I never seen this issue on my character. My character is female and smallest as possible.
Not sure if this makes a difference.

A lot of the content is yanky, this is no exception
