I’ve spoke of this build before, I had to run past it setting up a transtone base in the old nebthu{?} ruins because it’s close to the the war maker obelisk.
Running past it my fps drops from 60±5 to 15. And skipping and dropping frames, as
flags
and
bushes
slowly
render
in
Had to go back and forth past it a few times as I realized I’d forgotten something else I needed; ADHD I live side tracked. And each time I fumed and thought about reporting it. And that is the point of this.
Even though it seems the base was built to do just what it does. Every flat piece of roof has rows of flags as tight as you can pack them. Same with bushes around the base. Thing is I’m measuring it with a 1060Ti. I don’t feel right reporting it; oh I feel just fine judging it, because the tool I am using is way outdated and may be the issue it’s self.
So how would I actually get a good measure of the actual lag caused by a build?
The next issue is I don’t trust funcom’s judgements. If the rules being enforced is dependent on a judgement call by funcom, any consistence just left the room. If Bob had a pleasant night, a good nights sleep, didn’t have to wait for a good cup of coffee, and got to work with out issues, Bob could be very forgiving. On the other hand if Bob had a crap night, got no sleep, had to wait on his coffee so was cold, traffic turned a 15 minute drive to a 2 hour stand still, I don’t want to be the guy reported when Bob reads the report with that chip on his shoulder.
I’d feel much different if funcom simply gave a warning with explanation. I don’t want to be responsible for ruining some ones game because I got a crap GPU and Bob’s had a bad morning.
If so I’m on ultra settings except general shadows and foliage are on low. Stat fps isn’t working for whatever reason so I don’t know what it would be. Overall there is a slight performance hit but no rendering problems and it’s still smooth enough I barely notice. No issues with combat or anything else.
Pretty impressive base all in all but I would say imo it’s a bit excessive on placed items.
It’s all subjective. Sure there’s a lot of placeables but If I had ran by this base in normal play I wouldn’t have given it a second thought. I would imagine someone on a high end computer wouldn’t notice any performance hit at all.
I do have a good ssd for whatever that’s worth. The rest is pretty dated. Tells me it’s not suitable for Windows 11.
No idea what pc is like but on console that much décor can warrant a suspension.
I asked probably a year ago what harms rendering the most and the consensus then was lighting and placeables. Not sure now because that was before bars and settlements.
I have zero experience with consoles so I couldn’t even guess how they compare with pc’s.
Maybe not anything you don’t already know…
Pc’s can be a very mixed bag. There are a massive amount of configurations, components, drivers, user tweaks, background programs, etc etc. Aka there’s a lot of potential for conflicts, poor setup, malware, cheap/defective/malfunctioning parts and good old user error. All of which can lead to very poor performance.
On the flip side when they work well even an old toaster like mine can handle far more than would seem possible. It takes a truly massive CE base with tons of placeables to lag me to the point of it being unplayable.
I would assume Funcom/Zendesk has a baseline spec in mind for determining unacceptable performance loss due to a large base and/or placeables but who knows.
People who play in PCs that are lower “spec” than consoles often have a very different view from people who use PCs that are much more powerful than consoles.
My wife plays many games on XBox, including this one. While some people will say the experience there is better, when I played there I felt like crap.
On top of that, not all hardware is pure “one number”. You can have a large memory GPU that is crap. You can have a monitor that prevents your GPU from delivering what it can if it can. You can have so much crap installed in your PC that it is always running on edge.
Most of what people blame the game for, are on their PCs, or their care of their PCs. This game should run very smoothly on Ultra on the specs most people use to play games.
But again, PC is not a platform you make such blanket statements. I mean … you can have varying experiences even with the same hardware.
The 1st problem and always will be is the G-portals and the bad optimization isnt player fault since others game we can see bases like the bases we have in conan and with NO LAG.
But now let talk about the second problem:
“People”
You play in a official server using one crap GPU why you are caring about others player base if you cant upgrade your pc?
Did you tried to msg he to ask kindly to he remove some decorations?
" please bro can you remove a little of decorations from your base , i have a crap pc and idk how to avoid your base it is the only way i know to reach in my destination if i try another way i can be lost"
Did you even tried play in single player?
Did you tried to ignore it and keep playing just using another way?
Isnt the first or the last base you will find in your way you shall learn how to play with it or upgrade your pc and theres no more problem…
And again its another useless thread talking about other players bases in a builder sandbox game.
No place in the rules does it say anything about going to a different server, a private server, or go to single player if other players build with your opinion, that the rules don’t apply to them because they are just so special.
Note: If I had a truly crappy PC I wouldn’t be running with most settings on high at 1440 and getting 60±5 fps and some places I hit 80. When I move up to a 3070 it wont be to play Conan, don’t need it for Conan.
Other peoples bases that clearly dances on the envelope is why I started this thread, hoping funcom would give us back the tool we had for checking server lag. I’m sorry you missed that.
