Yes, this is actually feedback. I LOVE the new Nemedian building set. It’s gorgeous. But for the love of Crom WHY is it BROWN? When Blood and Sand came out and we got the awesome arena pieces I was excited because of the potential to build castles. But I was disappointed that it was brown. And I know I and many others have BEGGED for a GRAY building set that would look natural in the north. You know, that place where you put all the GRAY ROCKS! And yet, still we have no gray build set. Please, I am begging you, get over your obsession with brown and embrace the beauty of GRAY for the next DLC!
Wait a moment…arena pieces are BROWN?!!
I think an alternative colour for the nemedian set would be aswesome!
Also alternative foundations!
Arena pieces are grey, i only use arena mostly with my main builds, and it’s definently grey
Thanks
I thought I was colour blind or something
The warm picture setting on tvs can make those greys in Conan look kinda brownish so I’m thinking maybe op had that setting up?
We have some sades of gray I suppose in our builds, yet I do get your point. You want the gray of the stones we hit to be on our walls too isn’t it? I totally agree, it seems more logical.
This is how I would like to have a sandstone looks exactly
Actual stone building has not one colour, or one sade of a colour .
In my island we have a medieval town, we call it old Town, all the streets are with pebbles and stones. Almost all the yard entrances have a mosaic with pebbles like the one we started today
Yet in our villages we have more solid stone builds, more gray but still the sades are plenty.
It is very difficult to have this outcome in gaming, yet I believe that this artist team is crossing boundaries every time.
So cross fingers and let’s hope for another amazing dlc
The yellow torches aren’t helping it look gray.
Might look more gray if you replaced your yellow torches with blue witchfire, though at the cost of also looking less barbaric.
You have a wonderful arena. Beautiful!
The color of the arena set, IMHO, is gray-brown with a violet tint. I adore it.
Hmmmm, well I guess everyone perceives colours a bit differently
What can you see here?
The arena is on the red tone. It’s not a true grey, as you are explaining.
2 and 45
A bunch of coloured dots…
you don’t see anything else in the dots?
The quote pulled in drachenfeles’ post is on a grey background. The arena arena from Alexandria’s pic is greyish-brown in comparison.
We should be able to mine grey rocks and get limestone variant of T1. Mine volcano or jungle rocks for their own shades, also T1.
I too like the idea (additional t1 sets is something I feel the game is rather lacking - highlighted by the popularity of flotsam - understandable because it’s an ‘unimportant’ phase and ‘important’ building gets done in higher tiers, but could provide so much more visual variety (or just better scenery fit) - extra t2 sets would also be good for the same reasons).
That said, I can see a potential issue - then you need separate stacks for ‘sandstone’, ‘grey stone’, ‘volcanic stone’ (maybe also a white limestone and some others too), which is complication many might view as unnecessary for an aesthetic change. Of course, it could still all stack as ‘stone’ and then the builder could choose the ‘colour’ while crafting with it (but that, of course, fails to satisfy the realism/immersion point of mining stone of a particular colour for a particular colour result…).
Extending the idea even further, it could be really cool if the colour of each building piece was an ‘emergent’ property - whatever mix of different stone colours you throw in, the colour resulting is a mix of the materials (as @stelagel commented on another thread - buildings are made up of all different shades and tones, even within the same materials)… Of course, this adds a bunch of unnecessary complexity, and I wouldn’t expect it ever to be done - but it would be cool
tl,dr: more t1 (and t2) building options would be great - more colours and materials to fit in with different environments. (And if I ran a game studio, I’d probably be the sort of boss devs would hate - ‘hey, here’s a cool idea the engine was probably never designed for - why don’t you figure out a way to do that’ )
If they ever add another T1 set, I’d rather have a log cabin set than a gray version of sandstone.
I think making the different stone nodes throughout the game give different types of rock (particularly this late in release) is also highly unlikely to ever be a thing for a long list of development and gameplay reasons.
There is a mod that allows you to color the non-DLC building sets, IIRC.
Without question - and not least because of how unnecessary most players would consider it to be
A log cabin set would be great - more wood building sets generally. Maybe a relatively light/simple t1 and a heavier/more solid/cosy t2 option could be cool.
I believe Emberlight has a feature for that (though I never wrapped my head around getting it working properly last time I looked at it).
My understanding is activate Emberlight as admin (at the basic) and then right click on a building piece of a building, click the little brush icon. It has a list of the building sets supported. Click on Sandstone and it has 2 presets and if you have admin access (or it’s granted) you can make your own preset.
