Ceilings cannot lay on ceiling

Game mode: Single-player
Mods GCAM, Emberlight, Fashionist, IQOL

Square ceiling pieces can no longer lie on other square ceiling pieces. Triangular ones can still do it and receive stability from below. I still have to try and load old games which use this construction method, and if their builds still work…

Uh, what? Sounds like something that could be done with a mod like LBPR. This isn’t a vanilla game issue as it’s never been a thing where you can layer one square ceiling and overlap it with another square ceiling. Not intentionally anyways.

Advanced Building Techniques -6. picture, works also with ceilings!
…i use it extensively, because often i have roofs or ramps under my ceilings, and they pierce through, so i use a second layer to make the floor smooth.
In my picture the turanian pillars stand on argossean ceilings which stand on other ceilings quite nicely!

Tadaa! I love it!

Ok, just checked an old save where i use this, half of the building relies on said technique.
It still works, but i cannot build new structures like that (again, only the squares)

Definitely would not categorize this as a base game issue. Its creative building doing something that was never intended for the build system.

So if you want this “feature”, your best and only hope is mods. LBPR allows full building overlaps, it would probably let you layer like you want to as I’m sure the reason it doesn’t now is due to overlap restrictions.

If this is no basegame feature, why do the pieces transmit stability? I have a building over 10 tiles high standing on these pieces. It worked always until lately. LBPR is great, but what does it with stability in this case? Or is there no stability problem at all?
I had endless bridges from some GCAM pieces and didn´t use them …i like the puzzling stability

If i remember correctly, there is an exploit stacking tiles that crashes servers and somehow duplicates item. Prehaps this is an attempt to remove the exploit?

Ok, but only the square ones? And also i hope you are not right, because then i have to rebuild a lot of stuff (i am in single player, but still), i don´t think this is an exploit (there are many legit ways of layering) and i never experienced duplicating.

From the little i know about it, it requires lots of square tiles stacked on a single pillar, uncertain as to how the dup portion works tho. But it crashes servers…

8 ceilings make a pillar height. And there are several ways to pack pieces for defence, i think the most efficient are fence foundations. I´ve also seen combinations of pillars with fence foundations. And if you make packing impossible, people will make their walls and ceilings simply bigger, like ceilings with a small space inbetween.
