Basic Info:
Platform: PlayStation 4 Pro
Issue Type: Other
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands / Isle of Siptah
Server Name: None
Bug Description:
The game is too heavy for PS4, looks very poorly optimized.
I decided to give Conan Exiles one more chance with the arrival of the Age of War, but the game is not playable on PS4 Pro. Rendering bugs persist. Conan’s tavern in Sepermeru remains buggy. The game in Siptah has a lot of lag. There are still invisible enemies. It’s really a shame as it was one of my favorite games.
Bug Reproduction:
Turn on the console, start Conan Exiles, enter the game and try to play … and be disappointed.
In my opinion as long as you are playing offline it will only get worse unless they get a fix witch probably won’t come out until next stage of current age of war. Seems like ps4 pro has had the worst of problems over ps4 or ps5 . My spouse and I were doing okay until her ps4 fried got her a ps5 and shortly after got my self one neither one of us has played much offline. Playing offline requires your console to be a server adding extra stress to console. @Katanzarus
Same issue here. Running single player on PS4 Pro and lag is horrendous. Lost several sets of tralls in fights because I stuttered to a hault and couldn’t pull them back. I love the game to a fault, but it’s almost unplayable when the frame-rates slow to zero or your stuttering the wrong direction off a cliff. Oh, but it doesn’t lag when you’re midair and you slam the ground below.
The other problem is that it occasionally freezes up when you exit. The save file then becomes corrupt.
When I logged back in, I was completely across the map and stuck among a mob of enemies. All my items had vanished from my wheel bar, so I had no weapons to fight back. My tralls were stuck on no attack, so they wouldn’t fight back. At the same time I was struck by horrid lag that left me screaming. It’s pretty clear what ended that fight and it wasn’t me. Lost my tralls, my items, and my dignity.
Vaguely remember people on ps4 pro changed some video settings that made it run better. Some have moved game to external drive. Would not have a clue how to do that. Good luck Exile
Good morning . whether on a server or in solo/co-op mode, the display and texture rendering delay is the same. The games on PS4 are simply poorly optimized.
You can disable certain settings to minimize the problem.
disable journey tracking and weapon tracking, remove motion blur. if possible install an sdd in place of the original disk. and for corrupted saves following a bad closure of the game, make copies of the game on the PSN cloud or create USB regularly.
Honestly, I think it’s absurd that you have to juggle the game for it works satisfactorily, after all, it’s an obligation of developer to deliver the game at least functional and that offers a satisfactory experience. Especially on the PlayStation platform where you pay a lot more for everything. I wonder if the developers actually play the game and test it on a regular console before releasing patches. It’s not possible for this kind of thing to go unnoticed. These are glaring bugs! And I even feel bad for getting annoyed like that but it’s really one of my favorite games that I’ve spent hours playing and it’s really frustrating to see it getting worse with each update. The game was pretty good before.
There is a Forum member having a problem single player offline. Thought I’d check on my ps5. Went into single player game wanted to start fresh so when it asked if I wanted to delete old save said yes. Started to load game bar moved a fraction then stopped tried several times and with my alternate character. Oh his single player game got corrupted so he started over using admin and got the 59 attribute points instead of 60.
Your feedback and complains are valid! They know. What’s heart breaking is that ps5 suffers same issues . And i know because i own both consoles even if i still play on ps4 . But tbh, a hope that things will change for ps4 is a fools dream. Hopefully i am fool .
I have, in addition to the PS4, now an Xbox Series S. The problems are much smaller and more acceptable. The game is much better, but it frustrates me to see all the time and money I spent on the PlayStation platform playing Age of Sorcery being wasted, and now that I was practically “forced” to change platforms to be able to continue playing, everything I achieved with a Battle Pass and shopping in the bazaar I will no longer have access.
I feel your pain. Pretty much concur with your statements. The game overall is a grand achievement that keeps pulling me in, but the problems are numbing and frustrating. My hope is that many of these issues go away with the next update. I can only cross my fingers.
This is likely because the Xbox has a current gen optimized version. PS5 doesn’t. It continues to use the PS4 version which is why the PS5 is only slightly better than the PS4. It has less lag and rendering is faster, but the textures still break constantly and crashes still occur fairly regularly. Invisible npcs and objects are all still an issue as well.
Yeah, the game was completely unplayable on a basic PS4. My friend does ok on pro since he upgraded to SSD, though. Maybe your hard drive is giving up as mine did. SSD gave it some performance boost but still even on PS5 the performance is questionable.
Here is how I resolved the lag problem on the PS4 Pro. While playing in a single player game, open settings, select the “Gameplay” tab. UNCHECK, “Show Journey Steps,” and “Show Weapon Trails.”
Then back out of the settings and return to your game.
This eliminated the lagging and stuttering I had experienced. Completely lag free now.
I have no idea why those two options have such a dramatic effect on the game. Perhaps the coding related to those two options have serious errors that drag the system down. I just know it resolved my lagging issues. The game runs better now than it did when I first began playing.
I for one am losing a lot of patience playing on the PS4 Pro.
I constantly have to stop. Wait for the back ground or a base to Render in. Constantly jerking. Invisible enemies that grunt like a rock nose. Chests that take for ever to load its contents. Even logging in you cant skip the jerky intro. Reminds me of playing on the original Xbox One.
Playstation store should really take this game off the market. A new player would be lost, get frustrated and just stop playing. Waisted money.
the thing that gets me is the game ran fine in my ps4 before the AoS update no rubber banding sometimes a few pop-ins if i was near a big build nothing bad and i could see all the enemies. now i need a bingo card to keep track of all the bs from falling thru the map to getting turned in to meatballs by the invisible avalanches.
At this point in time even the Playstation 5 version does not seem to run well. I am still getting frame rate drops, crashes, invisible ceatures, desynchronization (bodies and death cries not appearing until several seconds after blood stains), blurred textures, mobs which are black and devoid of features from head to toe, it goes on. The Playstation really needs an optimization patch.
Same problems as everyone here. Lagging doesn’t bother me as much, but I could definately go without it. Some animals not showing is pretty anoying. But by far the biggest problem is the lost progress when it corrupt your save file. I try to play in half ours each and than going back to main menu to let it save. If I do that 2 times it works and it saves properly, but after that it corrupts the save file and I lose sometimes more than I progressed in that hour. This needs to be fixed Funcom, we paid for this game to be playable. Instead of trying to progress the game further, maybe make it playable for the people that already paid you money to play it. Also at a manual save option. It is ridiculous that this is not already in the game in offline mode.
