How good is Crevice in the Armor?
Lets see…
Bow Test
Thrall in Silent Legion = 880 Armor
Dragonbone Bow = 18 damage, 24% armor pen.
Dragonbone Arrows = 18 damage, 9% armor pen.
39 Accuracy - Total Ranged Damage = 68
Light Attack = 20 Damage dealt
Heavy Attack = 30 Damage dealt
40 Accuracy - Total Ranged Damage = Still 68
Light Attack = 23 Damage dealt
Heavy Attack = 34 Damage dealt
Crevice is giving +3 LA damage and +4 HA damage, assuming I really didn’t get +1 damage from Accuracy like I should have.
Axe Test
Thrall in Silent Legion = 880 Armor
40 Strength
Without Crevice
Dragonbone Axe, 53 Damage, 0% armor pen
Light Attack = 24 Damage
Heavy Attack = 40 Damage
With Crevice in the Armor
Dragonbone Axe, 53 Damage, 0% armor pen
Light Attack = 24 Damage
Heavy Attack = 40 Damage
Crevices is giving +0 damage.
Axe With Spike Upgrade Test
Thrall in Silent Legion = 880 Armor
40 Strength
Without Crevice
Dragonbone Axe, 53 Damage, 15% armor pen
Light Attack = 36 Damage
Heavy Attack = 61 Damage
With Crevice in the Armor
Dragonbone Axe, 53 Damage, 15% armor pen
Light Attack = 42 Damage
Heavy Attack = 72 Damage
Crevice is giving +6 LA damage and +11 HA damage.
1H Sword Test
Thrall in Silent Legion = 880 Armor
40 Strength
Without Crevice
Telith’s Lament - 53 Damage, 10% Armor Pen
Light Attack: 32 Damage
Heavy Attack: 37 Damage
With Crevice in the Armor
Telith’s Lament - 53 Damage, 10% Armor Pen
Light Attack: 37 Damage
Heavy Attack: 42 Damage
Crevice is giving +5 damage.
2H Sword Test
Thrall in Silent Legion = 880 Armor
40 Strength
Without Crevice
Telith’s Sorrow - 66 Damage, 15% Armor Pen
Light Attack: 45 Damage
Heavy Attack: 77 Damage
Telith’s Sorrow - 66 Damage, 15% Armor Pen
Light Attack: 53 Damage
Heavy Attack: 91 Damage
Crevice is giving +8 LA damage and +14 HA damage.
2H Sword With Spike Upgrade Test
Thrall in Silent Legion = 880 Armor
40 Strength
Without Crevice
Telith’s Sorrow - 66 Damage, 30% Armor Pen
Light Attack: 60 Damage
Heavy Attack: 103 Damage
With Crevice in the Armor
Telith’s Sorrow - 66 Damage, 30% Armor Pen
Light Attack: 76 Damage
Heavy Attack: 130 Damage
Crevice in the Armor is giving +16 LA damage and +27 HA damage.
Results Summary
Crevice in the Armor is multiplicative, so if the weapon has 8% armor pen, Crevice will increase it to 12%.
If the weapon has 0% armor pen, Crevice will increase it to 0% (It does nothing!)
So in the last test, Telith’s Sorrow effectively had 45% armor penetration.
The more armor pen a weapon has, the better Crevice in the Armor will be.
Crevice in the Armor is very bad when used with low armor pen weapons but can provide decent results when used with a high armor pen weapon. I’m not sure it’s worth the points either way.
Armor Penetration will of course show diminished results against targets with lower armor values and be nearly useless against lightly armored targets, such as wild creatures and humans wearing light armor.
