DLC items - Terrible Update

I dunno. Im getting more into Star Citizen, and for sh*ts and giggles, my buddy let me take his $750 (real money) ship out and fly it around.

Lots of games allow people to use DLC or items bought by other players. Not sure why Funcom changed this without any notice. Maybe in 7 days they will tell us.

See that’s the other thing. They don’t have to tell us crap. I’m glad they do but they don’t have to tell us that you can’t use something you don’t own.

What’s Star Citizen?

They do, but most don’t. If they do, they usually do it as a way to get you to buy the next items that come out. Like a drug dealer giving you a free drugs to get you hooked.

I do not know of any DLC which confers an in game benefit as they ae cosmetic in nature. The DLC weapons consistently do less damage than the base weapons, the DLC armor is comparable to the base armor, and the building pieces share the exact same stats.

Your annoyance is misplaced. The developers are implementers, not deciders. Insulting them is akin to yelling at the salesperson because the buyer let them get out of stock.

The game has issues, 100% agree. What’s more, the game has more issues now than a couple of years ago. That is the fault of the producers, who dictate the schedule and specify what items will be implemented or ignored.

The developers cannot specify time tables or testing or content. They can only implement what is designated.

Should there be better and more comprehensive testing? Definitely, but that, again, is the domain of the producers, not the developers.

At least the gear should be usable for everyone

Using them to circumvent a ban is

Wow, how extremely self centered and selfish of you. I’m glad that YOU love it, but then again, no one really cares if you do or not. After all, you clearly don’t care about anyone other than yourself.

Yeah, name calling isn’t winning you any more support on your position either.

Yes, yes you are. 100% you are. Do not try to pretend that you are not.

You dont think Funcom should be informing the community when they implement major changes to the game that can potentially affect its player base? Then why even tell us a road map of the future (future chapters and seasons)? Just toss out patches and updates, dont give us notes or anything…right?

Space/flight sim game that was crowdfunded about 10 years ago. Theyve built and designed (im told) over 100 ships in game. Big massive mmo with very big plans. You can buy all the ships theyve made in game through in game currency or purchase some with real money. Once in, you can spawn your ship and anyone can use it thats in your party.

I am unclear as to why you have decided to claim offense at the opinion of another player

They like it. You don’t.

No need to pretend outrage and moral superiority over what amounts to your favorite ice cream flavor.

Well then it’s a good think that I haven’t claimed any such thing. Just because I called someone out for being selfish and self centered at the expense of others does not mean in any way shape or form that I am claiming any sort of moral superiority at all.

You should have left it at that and just not continued then. :woman_shrugging:

How, exactly, has their opinion harmed you in any way?

Personally on fence…

I have UK/NA PSN, So buying DLC now basically screws me…(Since I need buy on UK account to use on my NA psn…

BIGGER HATE… is those petty 1 use potions you get in Pass… that a Admin can’t drop. Even in Single Player.

I collect my awards in battle pass, and blasted thing blue screens. Upon reload, BP is cashed all in.
I get none of items… I can make all recipes. But none of potions were given.

Can’t reclaim or ever use them… such a waste.

I have a main account that I can’t play because it is monitored by my enemies that has almost all the DLC. It doesn’t make sense to pay for DLC on other accounts when I can’t use it on one.

Aside from the pay to win walls you mean which have no comparable building piece but offer twice the health for the space of 1 wall.

Fair.

Have you stopped to wonder whether maybe people are complaining because they can’t give free stuff to others?

This snobby attitude from a handful of forum users who like to reduce every single complaint to “yOu JuSt WaNt FrEe StUfF” is getting old.

How has anything that I have said, in response to someone who was not you, harmed you in any way that you continue to peruse this? Are you capable of answering that question?

I never really look at it as “Oh I want FREE Stuff!”

I know to many people, who work 50-60+ hours a week, have kids… play handful of hours and could never drop money on a game past 1st purchase. (kids are expensive)
And plently who buy most of it in support.
And even some who rarely buy games and gotta make the ones they get count.

DLC lock outs seem more a “Penny Pinching” Move push down by expert, then actual punishment to any group.

I doubt it was that bad of an issue. Or even a Issue at all.

.
THOU… to be fair…

If there plan was to get people who were never gonna buy DLCs, or were always getting hand outs to “Think” about buying DLC…

Them Prices in in-Game Store Didn’t Help Them.
If they were to cheap to pay 10$… what makes you think dropping 20-30$ was gonna work? XD

See, that’s the funny thing, right there. Someone sharing something with you is often a good way to get you to buy it yourself. People who are truly on the fence about buying something might end up buying it if they’re given a chance to try it out.

Tell this one you do not actually play the game without telling this one you do not actually play the game.

While the DLC weapons are equal to iron or starmetal(in their epic versions), the base version does not require a feat investiture. In the mad dash to 60 so that one is PvP viable, the ability to skip expenditure of feat points is quite expedient.

But armour is the fun part.
By material, craft time, weight and defense they are the same as base armour. They also ride in for free with the base armour feats. Temperature protection is no longer the swingy thing it was, so that at least is also off the table.
But the stat bonus is the issue.
+Follower damage, +HP, ect… Base armour that they share other stats with is all +Carry Weight.
The matrix of armour category matches to stat bonus that the DLC unlocks increases flexibility quite a bit early on. It makes that mad dash to 60 easier, especially on a predatory server.

Late game, one can often find recipes for gear that is better. Either higher bonuses in specific stats, bonuses to more stats, better overall defense, ect…
Assuming the places to learn those recipes, or acquire materials to craft them, isn’t being camped.
On Siptah it’s much less of an issue (where RNGesus will decide who is favoured and who will have their 57th copy of Black Corsair garb before they find plans for the Kiln), but the particular topography of the Exiled Lands creates resource and learnable feat choke points that can be cut off, even without using hostile architecture.

So while it’s not at all the dreaded P 2 W
It is an advantage. Flexibility that is otherwise not available as early, if at all, on certain weight classes of gear.

So, perhaps yes, comparable, in that they can be clearly compared and contrasted.

That’s an excellent point.

A high compliment from someone who doesn’t comprehend the difference between a bonus to HP or Stamina and a bonus to Carry Weight.
