Maybe if people don’t want us to hear it that way, they should revise the way they say it. I guarantee we aren’t alone in hearing it that way, and it makes me wonder how FC hears it. Instead, we hear annoying things, and I can speak for myself when I admit I am often annoying in return. Perhaps that’s what so grating in many cases. Many things are getting old in the forum, but I have to say, I have this nasty habit of trying to annoy those who annoy me because, why is it okay for me to be annoyed but not the other way around?
If people would stick to conversations that had to do with playing the game and things that might actually impact future decisions, it might be less annoying around here. Conversations about the marketing and sales strategy are just a dead end.
Marketing and sales strategies that don’t heed consumer input does more disservice than failures in product design. While many complaints can be ignored due to being nonproductive whining, they are still valued as feedback.
Feedback about designs and what people would pay money for that they don’t today, yes. The general strategy tho? They know some won’t like it. Nothing on that front will be news to them.
This one admits a good portion of their own posts have two dashes of the amusement derived from a good digital slap fight.
Do you also, on occasion, enjoy the obscene mirth that comes from dwelling under a bridge and being all but impervious to attacks that are neither fire nor acid?
This one is sincere, if a thing distresses you greatly, don’t hurt yourself with it. Your time is too valuable to waste on exposing yourself to things that you know will induce aggravation and annoyance. Stimulus that reduces the total amount of time we humans have in this shared arena and depreciates the quality of that time as well.
Someone will Always be wrong on the internet. Other than pr0ns and politicking (which has lots of overlap with the aforementioned), the internet is all about being wrong. Loudly. IN ALL CAPS. This one refuses to proceed to bolding, but it keeps going. It seems as a species we are not content to make bold, foolish moves, unless we have an audience.
Oh, and advertisement.
This one is old. This one does not understand the young ones who are so wrapped up in digital interactions that some.of them end their stories as a result of what they see. It’s tragic. Horrifying really. But it forces this one to acknowledge that many people take the exchanges on the webs far too seriously. That it hurts them, on a deep level. It is a fact this one frequently fails to keep closely on mind. This one predates the internet, and thus frequently underestimates the gravity some interactions have…
TLDR; If it’s not at least a little fun, why bother?
I’m fine with it all. I’m even more amused when people are annoyed with my annoyance at their annoying posts. The irony brings me “mirth”. As easy as it is for me to not read a post, it’s just as easy for others not to read my posts. So yeah, it is a bit of fun at times because while I seem to be aware of the irony, others are not…
I don’t know why people are offended at being called cheap. I am cheap. I haven’t bought anything since the Nemedian DLC. I’ve also never bought a DLC for full price, even taking advantage of a Steam ‘ism’ to get that last DLC for a discount on day one of its release. I also didn’t buy the game at full price. What’s wrong with simply owning a label given?
If you all are cheap, you are cheap, who cares? You can be cheap with me if it makes anyone feel better.
It’s not about “being offended”. I understand people love to ask that question to shift the responsibility away from themselves and onto the listener, but it shouldn’t be so hard to understand.
If you’re commuting on a bus and someone starts blasting Cardi B’s “WAP” as loud as they can, singing along, and occasionally blowing cigarette smoke in your face, it doesn’t really matter whether you, yourself, are a smoker, or whether you like Cardi B’s music.
Yet when it comes to public Internet forums, somehow the question asked is always “why can’t you tolerate jerks”, and never “why can’t we have a conversation without being jerks”.
What’s wrong with having a conversation without slapping labels onto each other? What’s wrong with having a discussion without ad hominems?
That’s the thing, people are implying they are being called cheap and then get offended. I’ve never been offended by anything Darth has said in his arguments against those who don’t like how much some of the prices have been despite his arguments applying to me. Cause I do think they are too expensive, for me. Simply put, I can’t justify buying them right now.
But I’m not offended when told or suggested that if I don’t like the prices, then don’t buy them.
I don’t buy them. Its simple as that. There’s no offense to be had there. So I don’t understand why people do get offended when told that.
People are being called cheap, and under incorrect assumptions that they don’t own DLC items, too.
My reply was directly to that little gem of a post. And then, of course, @darthphysicist couldn’t resist defending it, regardless of context. And now you’re trying to make it look like people are implying things and looking for ways to be offended.
That’s where we are now. I can’t wait in which direction it will get spun next and what mental gymnastics will be required for that spin.
Admit it, you own that. I wouldn’t be in the thread if those of us “snobs” weren’t mentioned. I was happily just watching the conversation until us avocado toast eaters were mentioned…
Great point. I was thinking of starting a thread on this very topic. FC got rid of a bug that could have helped them sell more items from the BLB. That bug was accidentally letting people use the sitting cross-legged and kneeling emotes without buying them. I used those emotes on a couple of my thralls not realizing they were from the BLB. Now that I know, I’m keeping my eyes out for when they come around so I can buy them.
My idea is to let people use items from the BLB for the first quarter to third of the initial display time. People could get a feel for the item, be it building piece, armor, placeable, emote, etc. and if they wanted to buy it. After the testing time expired, building pieces and placeables would either change to a vanilla building piece or lose stability in the case of placeables. Armor and weapons could simply not be used any more, just as happens now. This change should also satisfy the suggestions a few people had about getting refunds due to poorly worded descriptions or missing information. It would also allow people like @Wak4863 to review items without having to buy them.
But of course! Pointing out someone else’s ad hominem and saying that there are other people on the forums with that same snobby attitude and having you jump in there to defend the aforementioned snobby attitude that I pointed out, yeah, that’s definitely all on me and you’re entirely without any responsibility there.
See, @Taemien? I told you the mental gymnastics involved would be entertaining
Yes, I am. See above for my answer to “so what”, I’m not gonna repeat it
You move on to whatever you want. I’m having fun watching a certain someone pretend that pointing out how someone was being judgmental and insulting is as bad as being judgmental and insulting
