So I played the new update last night, and naturally one of the first things I checked was the plight of my much loved Sword of Crom. With this feedback seemingly destined to fall on deaf ears (yeah shocking I know), I made an executive decision to construct an large chest, then spawn in 45 Swords of Crom, then to apply and advanced weapon fitting to each, as weapons fittings applied have been safe from nerfs in the past. I thought to myself well…at least I can keep using some duplicates of it in its once former glory. So imagine my shock and anger when I checked my chest and found this:
Even the the Swords of Crom with fittings were nerfed!! Oh and I lost some 45 advanced damage fittings too (I made them honestly as there was no RNG behind them). Wow, you sure showed that Sword of Crom who is the boss around here didnt you Funcom…!? Its obviously not enough to let them fade out of circulation naturally, no you had to slap Singleplayers, PvE players and Private Server Admins in the face on the way out. I am so beyond disappointed right now.
It is like we had a once beautiful vibrant valley. First they burned it to the ground. Then they sowed the earth with salt. Still not content, they then decided to dump iridated toxic waste there! What a disgrace.
I hear you heaven13. It almost feels vindictive or malicious. It is like all common sense, good judgement and sensibilities went out the window with the advent of the Age of War.
For sure. It was an absolutely deliberate choice to alter ones that existed with fittings, particularly when it’s a direct contradiction to how changes have worked previously.
Someone really hates Sword of Crom and did NOT want older versions lingering, even with its 450 durability and inability to be repaired meaning none of them would last all that long.
This is actually REALLY bad. It basically means that they can get rid of any legacy equipment that we’ve managed to hold onto over the years. Got a legacy Yog’s Touch? Too bad. SMH… I hope this isn’t the advent of something else. It feels like a trial.
They can do whatever they wish, but there’s one thing they cannot. Tell you how to play.
No matter the nerfs, no matter the items, we can outplay their game with a stick. We earn it after several thousands hours of gaming. @Croms_Faithful, we lost a battle, not the war, regroup, heads up!
While I don’t like that the SoC was normalized to other Two Handed Weapons. The idea of Legacy items getting fixed is a good step. Conan Exiles has always been a game about loss and replacement. The idea of items sitting in a storage container for months or years is counter to that.
Players get far too attached to items, buildings, characters, and servers because of many of these legacy items and followers. That bandaid needs to be ripped off.
If a player has an old legacy Sword of Crom, either they use it until it breaks and then it’s gone anyway, or they don’t use it and it sits in a box (which means it doesn’t matter that it has the old stats because it’s certainly not hurting anyone with its old stats, in a box).
I honestly don’t see the problem with players being attached to certain things, whether that be buildings, characters, or items. If it’s what they enjoy in the game and is not detrimental to others on the server, who cares?
And it’s not your call to determine how anyone other than you play the game. So get over yourself. Just because YOU think that people get too attached to think is fvcking irreverent. Your opinion amounts to nothing when it results in destroying someone else’s game, which is what you are sitting here advocating. ESPECIALLY in single players!!!
Nah I don’t think I’ll do that. I think I’ll stick with my original assessment. If serial refreshers’ game is destroyed, then them leaving means their stuff decays. Its better for every server for that. Singleplayers have admin commands to fix their own stuff.
I’m allowed to agree with decisions made by the devs. There’s nothing you can do about that.
AND MY AXE! Seriously though, beautifully put. It is the sword of CROM and as such should be a major force to be reckoned with. And given its major drawback (100% stamina drain in one swing) it is more than fair.
I never really understand why they allow to their game such things. Years ago i was reading about a lying bastard sword that was on market for 500€. Allowing these things you destroy the very competition you try to create in your own game.
That is a matter of perspective, and an in this instance I fail to see the merits in yours. Perhaps it would be best if we agree to disagree.
Blatantly wrong. It is about “loss and replacement” for PvP only. Singleplayer and PvE are spheres occupied by collectors, completionists and roleplayers. Different players and different modes, have different means and a different ends. So as much as you would like us all to jump on your idiomatic bandwagon, unfortunately we are going to have to decline your generous offer.
The only band-aid that needs to be ripped off is the mentality that one players knows what is best for another, and that other players should have to conform their playstyles to that individual’s standards and preferences. Please refrain from telling other players they are having fun wrong, and preaching to them from a skewed minority perspective on how to enjoy an open world sandbox. Next you will be telling everyone sitting on a stool and having a drink that they are doing it wrong.
The problem with the attitude of ‘it’s all temporary, get used to it’ (which is an attitude I see mirrored by at least some statments from the devs) is that it’s an attitude that drives players away from the game. Is the game ‘dying’ - I have no idea, only Funcom knows the numbers. But I can say that it is an attitude that is driving me away from the game. The past couple of chapters I have played only long enough to complete the Battlepass as fast as possible and then have had no desirte to interact with the game at all for the next couple of months. This chapter I doubt I will even do that, unless the promised hotfix does a lot more than merely reintroduce stack splitting. So the ‘ripping off of the band-aid’ that is occuring, at least for me, is simply a matter of not playing at all - which is a reduction in player numbers and income for Funcom (no matter how small the impact of one player may be). I am tired and the state of this game that I once loved makes me sad. But the attitude of ‘if you don’t like it, there’s the door’ that comes from some players seems pretty short sighted - if you show enough people the door, then a lot of us may actually quit - in what way does that help the game?
