I disagree. PVP server are meant for raiding and fighting. Not Allies (no ally system on purpose?) ganging up and policing official servers by having an id system, and then PVE building, mass storage of bombs to their hearts content when official PVP server has dead player rates from players moving on.
I really could live with player names in event log if there was no way to id a base so easily. I think having both tattle tales available takes form the PVP play. It makes it super easy to offline raid, as you only need to tag a building with no real work. Offline raiding will happen, but at least if you could not identify the base as easily, i will now i slipped up and gave away my location. As for event log, i have always saw both sides as far as knowing who destroyed something. I could 100% be behind some tracking of player names of damage, jo player name on thievery, and no way to id a base (outside of your own). This would be perfect, as you could tell who were out to destroy you (damage), build more secure or realize you have holes (nameless thieves), and have to track down where people are without the aid of a “Eat at Joe’s” sign on their base, even though they may have logged off for RL (no id’s on bases).
Clanning up doesn’t resolve the Refresh Alpha Meta right now. 9 months in on PS4, and servers are constantly killed by clans that only use event log and repair hammer offline warfare. Sucks, and i understand the strategy, but what harm comes if at the minimum one has to venture out and find bases by tracking players to identify targets. Don;t give the “we will blow everything up” line as that just proves the hoarding of materials is a major issue and gives the game an unbalanced nature on officials for new players. The only protection they could have is not having hidden bases so easily identifiable.
If you chase everyone away, and are super mat rich, then new players will not even attempt to play, and there would be no one replacing the old player. Then game dies, and we all lose. Officials should be a place one can go to play the game, regardless of when i got it, and right now PVP officials are the rich v the people just getting the game. And the rich get bored, so they spend 1 of 10 vaults of raid mats because its fun to them to win a lopsided battle of resources.
I have already answered it. I said i think names in the event log for destruction are okay if the bases were not identifiable by just running up using a repair hammer or checking a place-able/door when out and about. But both being tattle tales systems incorporated with player list causes a broken mechanic of offline raiding tools/griefing of smaller/new clans.
What I would like to see if it were possible.
In real life you don’t know jack, if there were no witnesses. So… Attach a non anonymous log to thralls in line of sight of your actions. If you raid a base without thralls, you are anonymous. If there are thralls, and you don’t kill those that saw you… You will be logged. If you want anonymity, as in real life, you’d have to kill all witnesses, or raid from where they can’t see you, like a cat burglar.
I guarantee that the name on log servers are then quickly evolving into PvP in name only servers. Run by an alpha alliance that is building PvE sandcastles and nice taverns with decor and all that. Everyone who got once bullied away from such a server will never come back and just play on anonymous log servers.
Imo what you deem good gameplay by diplomacy is not so much different from Chinese clans walling off the entire spawn area.
Some stealth elements like in the thief games would be very cool ofc, but I think this would be a whole other game to implement a system with line of sight, noises and hiding.
