I want to know why. Why? Why should they expect retribution for a successful raid? What’s the point exactly? If you failed to build your defenses properly, why should you be rewarded with information you did not work to receive? Why is this whole “revenge” system a positive thing, when all it leads to is naming and shaming and wiping off fish stealers off the server? Alpha/large clans can’t even be touched without the wrath of Ymir falling down on everyone who looks in their direction, yet they can roam and do whatever they please.
The ONLY thing showing names does is provide you with the opportunity for exacting revenge. That’s it. You still lost whatever the raiders took and MAY never get it back. Yeah, it is nice to know who did it since you obviously gain some animosity for the offender and you have the opportunity for vengeance, but I don’t believe this pro outweighs the cons.
“Cowardly” raiding does increase when anonymity is present, but I’d MUCH rather take that over alpha clan policing.
Both me and my friend have now more then 1300 hours played and not planing to stop. We started as a clan of 2 people and for very long we fought clans of 4 players, sometimes 5 players and once a clan of 7 who came invading. We are not really into hiding so we always fought wars head to head and mostly we won the wars. Sometime we lost the wars ofc and lost a lot and had to rebuild but that’s part of the game.
We learned how to fight, how to raid how to dominate (just the 2 of us) and won wars and dominated clans who had at least double the clan size we had. It was not easy but it was fun. And thats why I like Conan. And as for we were with just 2 of us we couldn’t keep checking our bases all the time. That’s simply impossible for a clan of our size. And so we really liked the log to see who was raiding us (as for we had multiple enemies) and so if they targeted a base we knew that if they attack that base we could or defend it or go hit their main base while thy are attacking us (depends on the loot that was in that base they are hitting).
Recently we grew to 4 players (hopefully we will grow more) and we have many other clans on the server who are also our size but we practiced a lot and we still dominate.
Like 10 man clans can just in turn watch their base anyway, they gona raid everyone anyway, so if you say just be online and watch your base thats easily said if you have a clan of 10 man… But for all small and medium sized clans this is simply impossible.
I have all dlc’s and I like Conan Exiles but if this anonymous logs nonsense will be implemented in the official servers then I will quit Conan.
If you would say something like “Funcom, Please make another couple other servers where logs are anonymous” then sure… Then the existing servers will not be changed and still the ones who really want it can go to those new serevers…
But still… to me making logs anonymous makes completely no sense and will just ruin my fun in Conan Exiles.
PS: also making alliances is impossible with anonymous logs. I have no clue if they just act friendly and then are just raiding me when I am not looking for a minute. So this anonymous log just makes a very toxic environment where you have no community at all.
we had this debate so many times … removing the names does not encourage the pvp. to my knowledge pvp means player versus player so if you hit someone you expect to get one.
we tried without the names it was worse for the little clan, worse for the community worse for everyone …
Its not hard To understand than big clan with or without name got enought time and player to ses who attacking them.
And pis stop talk about steal fish to big clan. Nobody care !
But the Refresh Alphas do care. That is the problem. Hard for any new players to even learn the game when the Alpha decides to log in and make the 50 pc fish theif pay with a total wipe and annihilation. If you say differently, then maybe you are lucky. But i have watched this happen on 10+ PS4 official servers, and know most PS4 Alphas are refresh alphas who wipe because they see 1 fish gone. Sorry, utopia will never exist. But from experiencing the no name recently, there was a nice balance by accident. Name in logs, but no name on bases. Make them scout at least. I would be fine with that. You know who your enemies are that way (which is what most people seem to claim is the reason they want a tattle tale log), but you still have to find them on your own. this would require some playing of some sort by the refresher clans.
I can live with a medium. Names in logs, but no names on buildings. Requires tracking (not the “scouting” we do now by taking a repair hammer trip) by finding them, following them and locating their base. That was fun while the “bug” was in about id of bases. Our clan and many others had fun trying to tale someone back to their base so we could mark it on the map for future reference. They give me that, and i will be happy.

As a part of an Alpha i can say, we dont want target everyone and get empty serv so “thieves” is just a way to chose target ! we do not care about fish.
I wish i could find your server then. I am on PS4. I just play the game. And every server during the dead time were alphas who wiped level 30’s for taking fish (or something as trivial). so you are an anomaly in my world.
To sum this up, you need a log to tell you who raided your poorly designed base, because you can’t guard it during the whole raidtime?
My solution is to build better.
A debugging tool to reward shortsighted builds and lack of planning is not a proper tool for competitive gaming.
Again the game shouldnt be about trust and social implications. I could also rally up my friends and block you from joining the server. Wouldn’t find this an enjoyable Gamestyle however. Same with these alliances. This just destroys the PvP meta
People who actually play for 6 hours don’t want to deal with Alphas who have 1 person log on for 15 minutes to refresh a few of the bses and check the tattle tale system then jumps to anthem/fortnite on PS4 officials. If you build 10+ operation sadnstone bases, going wipe crazy because someone hit it when their was 48 hours left on the timer to clear some sandstone off the server is killing the game of actual people who enjoy playing and sepnding time on servers.
I get what you’re saying but I disagree. If there ever comes a time when there aren’t nearly as many exploiters and cheaters on this game, then i could probably be swayed to change my opinion.
As it stands now, i just quit Official 1932 because of the Chinese cheaters on the server. They exploit/hack/ect but I watched them glitch through the walls of my base while i was eating, drop a few bombs n light em, n run off. They constantly raid/grief everyone else on the server but there isn’t a time when theyre not exploiting/abusing some bug while they’re on.
With no event logs for people to check if it happens while theyre offline, how would they know who did what? Also, reporting doesnt seem to do diddly at the moment - everyone on the server who wasnt with the cheaters reported them at some point, yet no ban
In reality, you can just say Cheaters. I have ran across equal amounts of every nationality that cheat/exploit. And tbh, the Chinese culture doesn’t see something they can do as cheating, and they rarely complain when the exploit gets fixed. they just adapt. Americans, on the other hand, will quit once their one trick pony stops working. 50 Stat was fixed, Alphas were dropping off US region game like dead flies. a duping of orbs was fixed, more Alphas suddenly gone. Again US region is filled with fake gamers who can’t adjust when their exploit either goes viral and becomes norm, or gets fixed.
TBH, I see the benefits of having both styles of event logs. I’m also starting to see a need for both a more hardcore version of PVP and a more casual one. One version of PVP should have more obvious event logs and perhaps shorter raid windows or offline protection, and yet another with longer raid windows( maybe even 23/7) and minimal event log information. Anon event logs was nice though balance wise and bought smaller clans some time. The minute it went back though and smaller clans didn’t realize we could see who was doing what, my large established group pretty much wrecked them.
Not really, it’s just a different style of play. Exiles is a sandbox game so there are plenty of solo strategies to employ and the more you solo the more understanding you gain. Solo is quite fun, maybe the best challenge. Your goal is simple though, you just survive. Don’t need that shiny palace on the hill, your base can be built in a few days and rebuilt in hours. You will be raided, big deal. You can always take revenge for an overkill raid and destroy the offender’s palace on the hill with an avatar… so long as you know who overkilled your base!!
So solo is more than just stealing fish or scavenging clan raid leftovers anonymously, it’s having the ability to be the pest, the thorn in the side with little to lose because you know who destroyed your base. That is solo protection.
However, I think there could be a thief-mode raid for anonymity where entry is made with light use of explosives and chest destruction. Conan started out as a thief in Zamora and Nemedia so there is some RP value here.
This quote sums up how i feel about alphas using tattle tale logs. Even though you bought a safe spot, not judging–smart move by you—it still shows Alphas with “good” intentions with the power of the event log still kills servers. Imagine if that alpha didn’t have a tattle tale system or at the least could not easily identify peoples bases without actually spending time in game, how hard it would be to police a server.
Anakin Skywalker just wanted power to protect those he cared about with is powers, but he would destroy others he saw as enemies to that goal to obtain it. Same goes for Alphas. they may think they are doing good by policing officials, but in reality they are killing the player base of any fun factor. And ultimately, a majority of gamers want fun.
