Fence Stacking: How to build without it

, ,

“I build with foundations stacked on top of each other if the server allows me”

“If you’re looking for a way to be unraidable, that will never happen. That is the intent. You raid, you get raided. Adapt and overcome. I don’t understand this desire to have a situation where all you have to do is login to refresh every day to keep your stuff.”

seems about right. Build bad base so u can pvp. got it bro!

You can’t imagine how much loot I have saved like this already lol. Obvious chest is obvious.

Holy moly. Reading through the comments on the steam page is harsh, but true.

Lots of discussion here, but off topic for the most part. Actual building techniques discussed in the last few posts:

1- Hidden Base Locations (Which Siptah is good at, apparently. I wouldn’t know since I have the DLC but haven’t really played any on it)

2-Building near No-Build Zones

3-Decoy Bases filled with NOTHING (That’s just mean @Hel . I love it)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, let’s try to keep this discussion on subject. I still feel like this is a topic worth discussing, because there’s a wealth of knowledge out there. PVP players are tenacious. We build, get raided, take notes on what worked/didn’t work and then build anew somewhere else. Fence stacking is gone, and like it or not that’s the reality we have at the moment. So lets figure out some other ways.

Other methods discussed here:
1- Traditional Honeycombing
2- Rat’s Nest style vault nests
3- Hidden treasure rooms (Seriously? Hay Bales? That’s just funny)
4- Pillar/Apex Bases with lots of anticlimb and accessed by horizontal elevator
5- Sneaking Loot Chests in between gates

But primarily what you’re asking is “how can we build like we want, and still defend it like we need to.”

I submit we simply don’t have enough defensive tools provided by the game. All building methods are a fuse on a bomb. Giving you seconds or minutes of response time.

Something I have always done (and clan members hate me for enforcing it) is placing easily-broken placeables at exact locations at every base. If you play like most leaders, you’re refreshing the Event Log on a second account if there’s room in the clan. [This is another needed change – give us an alarm bell or warning sound when we take damage so we don’t have to play Spreadsheet Conan.]

Damage “Tattler” Example: if the base is Aquilonian style, I’ll make them place aquilonian placeables at intervals. This serves two purposes, it gives us early warnings, and makes the people who won’t abide by such simple rules quit playing with me.

This is 100% correct. No arguments here  I was mostly talking about the back and forth banter regarding Funcom and their rules/user interactions.

That’s an awesome idea. Certain placeables only have, like, maybe 100hp or something. Having that serve as your alarm system is a great idea. Especially if the guys raiding you enjoy wanton destruction. (Check it out! A pot sitting outside the base! Break it!)

Oh good, then there’s room for a bit of fancy.

I have an “end-game” island (or so called End Game Base #Begby) that needs lateral protection. Another Forum member said a spotter could guide arrows from out of range onto my carefully-placed honeypots – I mean Crenellations. So I claim the surrounding islands with modest Vault rooms.

On the more spacious island, I have created two vault boxes that look rather nice from the distance. It got me to thinking, and I reckon those vault boxes would be ideal “heels” for the feet of a Colossus. Who’s gonna complain about an RP Titan?

Maybe you misunderstood me but I prefer defenses to last a while but the new restriction just make things to easy to get loot.

Taking loot back easier said then done because they could be sore losers and just drop everything. Plus it would take a while to get back on track assuming the thralls are still alive.

One of my biggest annoyances in the world, right here. If you raid me, at least use the stuff you take.

Pillar bases are the only viable bases rn in my opinion. Just add lots of cren and make your main base out of gates as it’s the easiest to repair. Of course be on at raid time to defend against trebs. You can’t cover trebs anymore so just spam arrows into their treb to destroy it

or build a treb atvthe top of your base hidden pop the walls and treb there treb with 2 or 3 tnt boulders

Small crafting room and vaults as storage.

If I’m going to be honest it all depends on the server you play on.

Is it a private? If yes does it allow bubble/repairing/rebuilding depending on the answers to those questions you have to build accordingly. Is it weekend raid only? How long is raid time? ect ect

Officials is a completely different story just build a floating base and say f**k it.

only get banned if someone finds it. have fun running a foundation over the entire map looking for land claim.

and that the problems because actually i assume that a lot of legit base erased, are coming from reports done by people using real cheat and who have floating base this is what i saw happening on my offi server, because the only one who have not been ban were the one with the floating base and who has abused servers for two weeks using third party hacking program…

It’s been a few days since we had a post, but I was wondering if this was viable for archers:

Stage floor surrounded by fences and placing the archer on top. From my single player testing, it seems like their firing angles are better than traditional placement with crenellations.
