For those who are afraid of Thrall Rebalancing

Yeah, but entering admin commands like that is more complicated than what I was talking about. I was only referring to adjusting difficulty sliders, and in any case, I was wrong.

Basically, the idea is that you would look up how to be more efficient.

There’s no explanation in game for using fish in a press to get oil. How do you get oil? You research if you want to go to the next level.

A level 11 Tarman, you simply stick to stuff that you can do. If you want to do more, you get a better thrall, get better weapons (Tarman is more than able to kill the giant croc, even in level 10 heavy) and go from there.

Worst case scenario, you get healing arrows and solo the content with more attention to the thrall’s health bar.

The scenario that was proposed in the post I was responding to was a person in best gear, fielding a thrall in level 15-30 item, farming a level 50 area expecting to go on cruise control. Should that be possible?

I personally don’t think so, and it appears the developers agree with that sentiment. Smarter play brings better rewards. No T3 mediocre tribe thrall with ■■■■■■ gear able to farm a high-level area without using healing arrows and figuring out that the thrall needs better stuff to accomplish it.

No. Because of the upcoming thrall cap the “new” thralls with more HP and damage were introduced to compensate the lower total numbers of thralls to defend in PvP and against purge.
So if the thralls now are nerf back to the values of the old legacy thralls means that you will have a weaker defence in PvP and against purge. Quiet easy.

I beleive the idea is for the purge to sometimes win. And the bosses. right now, thralls make both just high end farming. I nor my clan has lost a thrall to any NPC. Bugs, offline raiders yes. NPC’s never. And as for purges, my level 2 Dalinsa knocked out 4 waves of berzerkers by herself. The only thing i did was shot arrows every few seconds to create healing zones where she fought. Not once was I worried, and was more trying to find out if i got a Purge Crafter in the body pile.

I have said it once, and will continue to say it, Thralls are a renewable resource (you don’t lose the gear, it can be looted when they do die.). Losing them should be part of the cycle of the game. Not every time, but enough to where you actually pay attention win they are in a fight. That is what the balance pass is trying to accomplish. Thralls being part of the game, not the game or severely interfere with the combat between the players…

We all know you can lose gear very easy, thrall just gone running behind you puff dead from grass, a rock , the wind who knows, no bag. Thrall dies from crossing water, no bag, thrall just gone off face of world no reason no bag. The forums are filled with these issues with thralls, how can they hope to balance what is broke, they need to fix thralls and those issues.

You can kill a whole village and end up with one body that has not just puffed in to the sky. Losing a thrall to a good fight is the only way you should loose a thrall not to a bug, loosing a thrall to the multitude of bugs is a complex other thing, really Fix the thrall issues then maybe relook at a new system but first they need to fix the issues.

Bugs are not the same as losing it to a NPC. Bugs are different. they are handled different. Read the entire post. I said my clan and I have never lost a thrall to an NPC. I did say bugs and offline raiders have killed them. But you know, angry eyes see only what they want.

See I am not angry in any way, confused , frustrated, not understanding where anyone can think a thrall rebalance is a good idea with all the bugs with thralls. I am sorry if I missed that never a NPC never and if you have never since you started to play Conan never had a thrall die to a boss or a mini boss or a horde in a village then congrats really lol I lost a few indeed in my first 200 hours I am sure but then again I have been reminded I am a suckie player a few times this week.

I just think that we should fix the game before we break other things, there is so much even in this test live that is not working that was suppose to have been working when they released their last update.

Hey I thought I was the only sucky player out there.

Doesn’t really matter how balanced the thralls are if it’s the bugs that kill them, anyway. No amount of hitpoints will help if the thrall falls through the mesh into a black hole.

Also, rebalancing in this case means changing a few numerical values, which is an entirely different amount of work than figuring out why exactly thrall AI randomly breaks, or why aliens seemingly abduct our favorite thrall during a daily stroll through New Asagarth, or why a solid stone foundation can carry our weight but Dalinsia Snowhunter slips right through it into the abyss.

The thrall rebalancing is being done now because people were asking for it, and it’s simple enough.

Wait… I still have legacy thralls. Are those legacy thralls going to be better than leveled thralls after the nerf?

I’m pretty sure the Captain will be, even if he loses health in the rebalance. They might not change that one at all, as he doesn’t spawn currently and sadly, we know how forgetful Funcom gets on one of these big sweeps.

I think people overlook that on vanilla 1x server settings, youre thralls can more easily die on the road to 60 against npcs when your best option is regular heavy and you may not have experience in the game to know one thrall from another. I have new players on my server who arent powering to 60 because theyre just playing the game like anyone does the first time they pick it up, and they lose thralls constantly. Before youve put in a couple hundred hours, I would say its very common to lose thralls. So what are we talking about? We’re focused on endgame mechanics oriented around like 6 thralls in the game. So because of endgame and 6 thralls, the experience is going to be made harder for anyone who joins the game new. Great. Sounds like a sure fire way to expand the playerbase…

And as level20 fighters are worse than fighers around July 2019 and T4- beares around April 2019, it just makes the game harder for new ones.

Forced by players with >2000 hour playtime, because they want to turn CE into “generic survial game 3000”, because we dont have enough of such games… facepalm

I restart my games all the time (bad habit, I know). If I break a fighter thrall from newb river, I usually name him “Craptastic” because he sucks and he’s completely disposable. It’s easy to keep one alive with heavy armor and food. I just don’t always care enough to give it to them.

You deserve all of the likes for this. Just saying.

But you know what you are doing… Compared to really new beginners.

How many T4 thralls I killed until lvl50. Or my pet, because I didnt use humans…

Yeah, I have a ritual I do when I make a new game and am usually level ~15 wearing partial light armor by the time I take a drink from newb river. Very different from my first playthrough.

No, I thnk people realize part of learning is doing and failing in this game. And failing, esp for PVP, is the best way you learn.
Example :slight_smile:My clan early on took on 2 members. We were in a war, and they had played the game for like a week. We powered leveled the, got them set up with everything so we had a full 60’s clan. They fought alright, but farmed like crap, and lost many an item because they did not know the elbow grease that the vets put in to get it. Once we grew bored of the war, we went to another server. There we all had to grind to 60 (we never clan up when invading) by ourselves. Lets just say they aren’t in the clan any more due to all the b…ing and moaning.

We did this again, but instead of power leveling the new guys, we had them power grind without our help. IE, they had to put in the effort and survive and learn the tricks themselves. Once they hit 49, we then allowed for the 2-3 minute flip to 60. But they are still good clan mates, and we liked playing with them. they also play now in a small clan by themselves and are having fun on the game.

As a clan we failed because we learned that players don’t appreciate the actual knowledge and time if you baby sit them to 60.
As players, the new clan learned and became great allies because they failed at things vets would laugh at.

Theres another thread on this topic but I’ll amplify it here. The first time you play this game (or any game) is why you stick with it. Making that experience enjoyable is very important. Making it a misery is even more impactful…

Darth, we’ve known each other for quite some time and I say this with love in my heart; but hot damn that’s a bit of an exaggeration to call it misery. Have patience, friend. Things won’t be as bad as people are making it out to be

Well, first time i played this game, thralls were utterly useless. I did not use them at all. Now 3000 hours later, im still here. And follower patch have granted me the use of nub thralls, something im very gratefull for.
