Very true @azaroth, very freaking true. I fell in love with the aspect survival game after Conan exiles. The only crafting survival game i played since Conan was Minecraft.
My 5 year old son asked me to download it to my pc so he can play and i was playing it just to be able to help him. But Conan
I lost my sleep for months, i was working and thinking of it.
Amazing game we loved, it still is, yet i believe that in some points it was better back then. But maybe it’s our melancholy for these days, we were feeling lost in this game and our thirst for more knowledge was huge. I really hope @Atoma will feel the same way, it’s a beautiful feeling.

I didn’t see the tower of bats. I was near that place mining some iron last night.

I found the obelisk at the sinkhole and i gained corruption there. I still can’t use it.

Also, what’s the most efficient way to reach level 60? Is there a place i can go to grind enemies?

Currently lvl 25.

Hi @Atoma and welcome to the community! One of my favourite things on the forum has always been to lend assistance to newer players. I can many members have already come forth to offer you some damn solid suggestions and strategies. However, I have noticed thus far that no one has asked you one of the first things I would normally check.

1) Atoma, on which mode are you playing Conan Exiles?

For example, are you on an official server? And if so are you PvE, PvE conflict or PvP? Or are you a Singleplayer, Co-op mode, private server? Help me out here.

2) Master the games dodge system, if you have not already. I cannot stress this enough. Even dodge blows by weaker enemies where you can so that it becomes second nature. It is all about building good habits for when you progress to more challenging biomes and bosses.

3) Religion. Which god did you select at character creation? Just in case you were unaware, there is a dedicated trainer for each of the religions in the game (except for Crom), who will teach you the knowledge for that religion for free! Do no not waste some 50 points buying the knowledge.

4) Your first dungeon. Atoma if you are level 30 and feeling like you have found your feet, then you can try your hand at your first low level dungeon if you like. If so, go to The Dregs. It is located at the Western end of the River biome. Fight your way through the Dafari’s at Skulkers End to reach it. It will also activate some new Journey Steps too.

5) Biomes. Where to next. when you feel ready to progress beyond the River biome, you could either head further North into the Deset biome. But I would recommend you go East into the Jungle biome. They are pretty similar with regard to difficulty. Later on down the road, will be the Highlands, Tundra & Frozen North biome. And finally, the Unnamed City & Volcano are your most challenging end game biomes. Just be sure to always have a few Bedrolls on you to update your spawn point as you go.

6) What equipment are you currently using? Weapons, armor, healing. For example, are you currently using irkn weapons, steel? And what is your current armor type.

I will wait for your reply before going into any additional areas of discussion. Best of luck adventuring Exile.

This is one of the most important things to learn when you’re new. Always set up near a good source of iron. You’ll find many all over the map. You can start a small base anywhere at first just so you have somewhere to stash your loot but you will want to set up something a bit bigger near iron as soon as you can. The faster you get iron the quicker you’ll make progress beyond that and you’ll need iron at all stages of the game. Ideally find a spot where you can gather from at least 10 nodes within a short walk from your base. This cuts down on travel time to gather iron and lets you quickly harvest a reasonable amount every time you drop by your base since the nodes will respawn.

Later in the game you’ll have pets, or bearer thralls, or build your character so you can carry a LOT of stuff. Once you do being close to iron won’t matter as much because you’ll make a single iron run and bring back several thousand iron all at once but it’s always going to be more convenient if you have iron within a minute’s walk from your front door.

Kill things, complete journey steps, explore, craft things. You get XP for everything but killing seems to be fastest. Gorillas in the jungle are easy to kill once you have a decent weapon and they give good xp. You can Google leveling guides, but as of the last update they may or may not be up to date.

@stelagel I would be fighting the Abyssmal Remnant and ensuring he has the Staff of the Triumvirate before he goes there.

Ps- do Journey Steps still grant Exp?

They did not too long ago and I assume they still do
 but this update
oh, this update may have ruined, that, too.

Hi,

I am playing in a single player server. Less pressure and more fun in my opinion. Not interested in PvP.

3.- I picked Mitra.

4.- Ill go there. Thank you. I am stll far from level 30. I am leveling a little too slow i feel.

66.- I am using the mace and iron daggers. Currentely, light armor and crafting medium armor.

I am currentely doing the thrall quest. Then i am going to look for a horse as soon as i have a chance.

Sinner’s refugee seems a solid place to find good thralls.

Also, bearer npcs carry a lot of materials i’ve noticed. I found a couple while i was exploring the map.

Thanks for the Gorillas advice. As soon as i get higher ill go to the jungle:)

That is a great spot.

G-9, H-9 has a good amount of iron. I often set up around there when I’m ready for the “north” part of the map. The Godsclaw area is amazing, too.

No worries, and don’t think you have to go there - you can level by getting kills anywhere and by doing anything so if you find a different area you like just hang out there and explore. You’ll eventually hit 60 and although many people will tell you that the game BEGINS at 60 there’s a lot you can do and experience before that. When you do hit max level it’ll become a thrall and a gear grind, and for the first little while not leveling up anymore is probably going to feel a tad underwhelming so it might be a good idea not to rush to level 60 too fast.

The jungle isn’t too bad, if you have half decent gear and have a good grasp of the combat mechanics you should be fine heading over there around level 25-30 - just be careful. Some of the enemies can be a bit rough.

Yes, it is. You can find some named (tier 4 - the highest tier) thralls there fairly often and it spawns quite a few crafters.

Thralls that can guard or follow you vary in quality not only by tier but also in stats/ability based on their type. A regular tier 1 Cimmerian fighter is usually going to be much better than a tier 1 Darfari or regular tier 1 Dogs of the Desert fighter. Generally the tougher the area is the better the thralls from that area will be when it comes to the fighter, archer, dancer, and bearer thrall types. There are a few exceptions to this, and crafting thralls of a given tier will function just as well regardless of where you get them.

Ah I just spotted this. My bad :man_facepalming: Fellow Singleplayer here. @Atoma so to follow up on Q1 from my previous post, have you made yourself Admin yet? This will give you some fantastic Quality of Life tweaks. Here is how to do it:

Admin
Pause the game (Esc) then go it ‘Settings’ > ‘Server Settings’ > ‘General’ > and click on the box titled ‘Make Me Admin’.

  • From here go back and into ‘Survival’ > and for ‘Drop Equipment On Death’ select ‘Drop Nothing’. You will no longer lose all your equipment when you die.

  • Now go back and down to ‘Building’. Check the boxes for ‘Allow Building Anywhere’, ‘Disable Building Abandonment’ and also ‘Disable Thrall Decay’. This will switch off building and follower decay, and mean you can build anywhere you like, turning of the building is not allowed here nonsense.

  • Finally, go out again and into ‘Pet And Hunger’ > and ensure that the ‘Use Minion Poulation Limit’ is also unchecked. Finally, go back out and into ‘Abandonment’ > and ensure that ‘Disable Building Abandonment’ and ‘Disable Thrall Decay’ are both checked. As a result of the prior anything which you build will never decay.

These settings are how I always play.

Note- making yourself Admin comes with some additional free benefits once activated. First, if you go to the Attributes (or Knowledge) menu, you will see a new option listed down the bottom of the screen titled ‘Reset All Attributes’. You can use this to refund and reassign your attribute points at will, without having to keep going home and brewing potions. There is a second I will get to soon

Thank you for the Admin tips. I didn’t use it yet. The one with the attributes should be helpful because I think you need to change your attributes based on your goals. Thats the purpose of Bestial memory as far as i’ve read.

Same thing with the building placement. I appreciate

Most welcome Atoma! Not dropping all of our equipment on death is a godsend for us Singleplayers. It is more intended for PvP mode, so it no serves no purpose for us other than an additional layer of challenge.

  1. Mitra is a good choice, and he offers some nice buffs. Religion is sort of a collect them all thing. With regard to some others easily accessible at your current level, you can learn:

Yog- you learn his religionin the River biome! At coordinates F4 on the map, you will find a location named Shaman’s Rise, with a non-hostile NPC trainer there Nunu rhe Cannibal. He will teach you the religion and some emotes.
Derketo- when you do venture into the Jungle biome. Go to coordinates O5, a location named the Pagoda of Boundless Lusts. You will find NPC Yakkira Priestess of Derketo there. Just be cautious on approach, as there are a good few Lemurians around her.

With regard to equipment, it sounds like your equipment is good and on track. Just upgrade to steel when you can. And as far as armors go, I would strongly advise that you spend points on other armor sets found in the Armorer knowlege, as they often far surpass the 3 standard light, medium, heavy sets. But since the new update their numerical values arent listed in the Armorer knowledge tab. So just check the values of any relevant sets in the Armorers Bench to ensure they are better than yours before you buy.

Shields are a good counter for jumping hyenas. Back slowly to line them up so the pair are close together (perhaps even on top of one another if possible – its not always possible). Let them jump into your raised shield. After they jump (hopefully within half a second of each other), then start swinging into them. Don’t do a full combo until you learn the rhythm of the fight. Do two or three swings, then shield up. Rinse and repeat. Back away slowly every once in a while to keep from getting flanked.

If it goes bad, clime a tree or rock face or something to let them reset. Heal up and try again.

Thank you.

Near that brimstone cave with the giant croc is a good place to start a camp. There’s hella resources and areas without many enemies. Start by following the journeys. They will help give you guidance for progression until you can venture further out on the map.

Things I wish I had known starting out:

  • You can reset your knowledge points later.
  • Don’t dismantle/drop the failed sorcery spell pages, just store them somewhere for a bit.
  • Inventory management is easier if you start off organized.
  • If you go to select a new journey, make sure you fully select it and you can jump from one to another depending on what you’re doing. You don’t have to finish one out to start a different one.
The journeys will help guide you on what to do next if you don’t want spoilers.
  • I didn’t use a sickle for harvesting grass type things until way later. Using the right tool for the job does SIGNIFICANTLY increase returns. Also, try using different tools on everything from corpses to trees.

Once you get thralls, you can go to places and harvest iron and then load them up with it to avoid being over cumbered. They’ll bring it home for you. Once I got to the places with lots of iron ore, I’d just build a furnace near them, load it up and let it run while I was off doing other stuff. Then when I ended up back near those areas, I’d go by my furnace and load my thrall up with the iron bars.

@Atoma , if you want to power level, go to the jungle and kill ape men. Gorillas give less xp. Ape men (the grey bipeds) are very easy to kill. You can run circles around them. They are the fastest xp source. Low hp, slow attack (they don’t have the sweeping attack like Gorillas) and lots of xp per kill. There’s a circuit you can do over there where you barely have to wait for the respawn.
My advice: don’t do it. Savor the leveling process. Later you will learn all this stuff and you will be leveling up to 60 in a couple of days. But don’t make that on your 1st playthrough. Enjoy getting there step by step, progressing in your crafting tree, etc.
