Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t bridges over the waterways a no no? Even if they’re not I hate them. I use the waterways as my autoswim zone, it’s my main thorofare. I’ve drown a few times to them, no need for them, or is there?
You remember what servers were like before you could swim towing a thrall? Bridges everywhere.
Well apparently that is coming back. Little toss up sandstone things spiderwebing every where. Why? Big treasures.
Have to wait and see how it plays out, but not liking it.
I think I understand… I dont know if public beta servers get wiped or not but if they do, it wouldnt surprise me if there is leeway given on stuff like that to speed up test. Easier to find bugs if people can do that kind of stuff and also can stress the server a bit to give a behind the scenes test…
Personal story time: when I participated in Siptah beta, I built the biggest stormglass base I could, layers and layers of foundations all over the top of the SW mountain, just to stress the server. It ended with a giant tower to hit the sky and see what happened. In the 5 year video, thats the tower when I detonated it on the last day of test. All the other testers jumped from the top and there was a group photo at top. Took more than 5 mins to run to the top.
Also coincided with the first few months of covid lockdown… strong memories
Not necessarily. We were given a clarification that QOL constructions in frequently-traveled spots can be okay. It is the ginormous walkways that span mountains and cover vast stretches of land that are not allowed.
There are large treasure items you actually have to carry, they wont go in your pack. You are literally running along carrying a treasure item almost as big as your character. If you run you drop it, to fight you have to drop it, and you can’t swim you drop it.
Note: Mugging will be a thing on PVP. Supposed in chapter 2 raiders will be trying to take it away from you as you try to carry it back to base.
They do between ages, not chapters. My issue is once people build that way and nothing happens they think it’s ok. Go to any PVE server and see what that gets you. Bases so big the only thing stopping them from getting bigger is the land claim border with other mega builds. No one gets punished so they think it’s fine.
If you are going to build bridges please make them high enough not to block swimmers.
Well they shouldnt because the terms say its not. Test just has more lax rules because its test. If they are needed for test and people dont see how to cope without them, a very complete suggestion thread for the devs is in order (kinda started right here!). Dennis did say thralls carrying them is on the table, just not ready for prime time.
And I think that is going to be the on going thing with this age. It’s a prime example of why I think hard release dates are bad thing. This age of war is coming out half backed. The first chapter is just getting set up and giving the devs 3 more months to get something done, that should have been done at release.
But that would be a tangent.
It’s easier to pick up a bad habit then to put it down later. Best not to get in to the habit. That is why sprawling mega builds are so common on PVE.
If your dog craps on your living room carpet and you don’t let them know that is wrong, they will assume it’s ok and keep doing it.
I mean we can expect these convenience bridges to be even more common with the next age. TOS violation or not people are going to build them, I just hope they build them with us swimmers in mind. Please build them high enough off the water to not obstruct swimming and I’ll ignore them.
For some odd reason my spell checker does not see “ign” as a mispelling
Oh, man, someone needs to hop on a server, pick a body of water, and just keep doing that until there’s a buttload of treasures just floating on the surface
Thank you! I remember that thread, but I forgot about that particular bit you quoted there.
Yeah, it does kinda sound like they think it could be okay to build a modest bridge under certain circumstances.
I’ll be honest, though, and say that I don’t want to be the dude who bets his access to all official servers on that paragraph and on a hope that the admin looking at my case would align with that.
It’s not that I want to discredit what was said there, and it’s not a matter of trust. It’s that the constant complaints about auto-closed tickets suggest that the admins might not necessarily have the bandwidth for such a fine-grained investigation of each report…
