How long since you last rode your horse?

I haven’t used my horse in 2 weeks. Not from lack of wanting to… I’m just busy leveling thralls

I built a jousting list and everything. Just need jousters and fun times.

I use map rooms for farming and built near an obelisk… using a horse would almost slow me down at this point but I ride them for pleasure when I do want to take extra time to do stuff.

What is a “distraction to the main game”, anyway? If you’re enjoying riding a horse, you’re having fun playing the game, not getting distracted from playing the game. As long as there’s no real-world money involved, we’re all playing the game for our entertainment, and pony-riding around is no less valuable than building fortifications, raiding NPC camps, fighting off Purges, defeating world bosses, exploring dungeons or making the neighboring clan members cry by offline raiding their base.

Use suicide teleport… I have a bed next to my outpost at Sinners Refuge and a bedroll next to the sandswept ruins exile spawnpoint.

Faster than anything. And if you on PvE, put up a PvP battle flag, go into it and accept PvP and then remove your bracelet.
You will respawn at the bed/bedroll with all of your gear…

NOTHING can beat that. Not even a level3000 horse…

For “aimless” riding around and to enjoy the map, the map is way to small…

I did that in Skyrim or RDR2 sometimes. But with that small map? The freezing north and volcano have some beautiful scenes/areas with light effects, which I know too good from farming/waiting meteors and volcano itself

And lets not forget the temperature system… I cannot even ride from the jungle to frost temple and then volcano… Or I need to have another gear with me, which protects me.

PS.: I did that a lot in Breath of the Wild… There it felt really nice.

I suppose I could have detailed, or stated that better.

What I mean is it is a side mechanic to the game. It doesn’t really fit with anything else. Sure it fits into the game just fine, but it doesn’t really connect with any other aspects of play. In fact, in a lot of areas, it actually impedes other areas of the game when, at least to me, it would make sense that the mechanics worked hand in hand.

As stated before, bringing a horse along when you try to thrall is virtually pointless and just complicates the process.
The same could be said for farming with the horse, having much more limited encumbrance and the fact you need to dismount to harvest or pick up individual items off bodies.
Its not even the most efficient means of getting across the map (a horse in combo with the maproom is, however, then you start bumping into the other detriments of how the mount closes you off from other features, IE… Bringing a thrall along).

I said distraction because you are choosing to do this, or that. It would make far more sense if mounts fit into the game as a nice complimentary system that worked with the others.

It doesn’t. Its more of a side extension of the game. I enjoyed the mechanics behind the mounts when first added, but without any further purpose, or actual cohesion with the rest of the game, I am finding myself never really in the mindset of ‘Oh, I want to go ride a horse in Conan!’.

Thats what I was pointing to with:

Hope that clarifies my point.

We all want this, but mounts have only been in the game about a minute, I as a mount enthusiast am willing to wait.

And even though I don’t use it, I think the map room should also stay in game.
I don’t expect others to conform to my playstyle.

Uh, what? This sounds like you’re playing on a private server. Or are pure PVE (as opposed to PVE-C) official servers configured so your gear doesn’t stay on your corpse?

Way more feedback than I’d expected on this, but also probably very useful for Foncom (if reading) to see what people are doing to take advantage of this new feature. I know they put a lot of work into the feature and am sure they want us all to enjoy it as much as possible. I’d be willing to bet there will be a number of great QoL tweaks to mounts over the next quarter, so long as the next DLC doesn’t take up too much bandwidth.

What I wouldn’t give to get my hands on the Conan Exiles road map chart.

Well, isn’t that what this discussion was about? That is entirely the point I was trying to express to those that were disagreeing.

Someone was asking me to clarify why i thought mounts were a distraction. I simply clarified I thought so because they were implemented without purpose. I understand its early and many of Funcom’s additions have needed further work.

I am eagerly awaiting clean cohesion between mounts and the rest of the game. At that point, I may actually make use of them again. Until that point, mounts are essentially just a prop in my base.

It feels like you just reiterated what I stated.

Official PvE @ ps4.

If you die in PvP battleflag zone (while you are in PvP mode) you also respawn with your gear. It was always like that (but PvP flags are kinda new…).

And this also works by removing your bracelet.

Yes, I was really just replying to the entire thread, and quoted you for emphasis.
sorry for any misunderstanding.

Ah Im reminded of something (a very small thing). If I could dye my barding, I would actually use a horse more. The Poitain barding would look so delicious dyed black.

Sounds like it was my misunderstanding :stuck_out_tongue:
All good and thanks for clarifying.

I am not sure if this addition alone would promote me to get on my horse more, as its not added functionality, just aesthetics…

However, I am 100% with you in wanting this addition. Not only would it be great to just simply have the option… But I want to coordinate armor themes with saddles. My horse should clash visually with me!

Aesthetics stop me from doing a lot of things actually. Optimizing armor is a good example. Doing mix and match can help with stats but I just cant stand having a thrift store look in game…

Fully understand that. I do a bit of mix and matching, but it is all very carefully selected, and not usually based on optimal stats.

This issue for me however has been alleviated with the fasionist mod. Admittedly I have scoffed at the ‘need’ of vanity slots in the past, however, when I have the option of them, I certainly have put it to use.

It’d be nice if Funcom made it a feature of the game, rather then a mod. Weird topic for me though, as I see value on either side of the fence and pushing players to experiment and use different armor, rather then most everyone defaulting to a standard look, does have precedent. However, I don’t want to look completely goofy due to also wanting reasonable attributes, so I tip either direction on this.

I’d prefer the customization of all craft-able armors and only the boss drop armors be fixed with temps and attributes. That way there is some WYSIWYG armor in the game, but the rest we can build to our needs.

I love wearing my vermin hide + Gods eye + war dancer. Makes a fantastic look for the desert. Can wear most any light gloves to finish off the set. Doesn’t even look thrift shop.

What?? If that’s true and you can remove your bracelet on official PVE and respawn with everything, I never ever ever ever ever want to hear a PVE player complain about the 4x XP or 2x gathering rate on official PvP servers again. In fact I would ask Funcom to turn PVE down to 0.5 on both. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I mean, it’s not like they’re that much related, but yeah, I was also astonished. I’ve only been playing PVE-C and I didn’t know PVE was configured that way. I thought only private servers had the suicide-teleport turned on…

Pretty much what I am with right now also.

I used to use god’s eye, but due to armor changes and the dodge change, i now am currently running:
exicutioner’s hood
war dancers
Verminhide pants
(used to do verminhide boots also) but now Godbreaker boots (with verminhide boots vanitied over them)
Bracers… Im flexible. Depends on the stats I am attributing for.

Its a pretty decent looks, specially with coordinating dyes. (Took me forever to get my 2nd exicutioner’s hood for my thrall. Such a great helm)
