How long since you last rode your horse?

I never knew of that function either.

Admittedly, as amazing as a time saver that…work around (to be careful about my words inciting anyone) its just to directly against the concept of the game for me and removing penalties from the game just because I can finagle it, doesn’t necessarily justify doing so.

When I went to a private server from official, had a talk with my buddy who I play with regarding admin privileges and cheating, and while I provided us both admin rights, we both agreed without argument that the only thing we would use admin privileges for was editing our character appearance, which seemed reasonably tame enough in the realm of cheating game mechanics.

Please dont forget the PvP battle flags and active PvP.

The reason why it works: people in PvE should not have to fear to lose their gear while doing PvP.
So when you get killed (die) by another player in PvP battle zone you respawn with your gear (on any of the 3 respawn possibilities).

Additional info: If you get poisoned or other DoT on you and you run OUT of the PvP battle zone, and then die, you will NOT respawn with your gear.

Neither do you respawn with your gear when you remove your bracelet outside a PvP battle flag zone or when you have declined PvP.

As I wrote one post before. It only works with PvP battle flags and active PvP.

You can only place battle flags on your own/free place.

And your thrall will not come with you… So it helps in certain cases…

But in PvE you cannot steal others gear (from other players or bases), where such a function would be pretty game breaking or great (depends on the viewpoint).

But 2: yes, you could activate enc perk5, craft a battle flag and farm your inventory full.
Then place the flag on a free ground and travel home. I never did that… I never had enc at perk5…

I would fully support us being able to craft the stats/temp bonuses for our armor so that we could choose the set we liked visually the most. This is even more true now that the stats benefit thralls. I love the Aquilonian butttt my thralls don’t need a Grit bonus from the Black Dragon set.

The fact is that I already default to certain ‘looks’ solely because of the stat bonuses, and - in the case of the PC - temp bonuses when applicable.

If temperature ever begins to affect thralls too, then my choices would be even more limited. I need my armor themes to match my build themes!

Ohhhh, so it’s a new thing! Nice! Thanks for explaining that, I was beginning to think I was going senile prematurely

Again, what?? What’s the 3rd respawn possibility?

I’m using horses a lot in PVP. Mostly after/before RT. So far I’m able to go solo vs 4-5 players and come up on top. Horses are very oppressive on open ground, you can always disengage, pick the right moment to strike again etc. The only real threat for you is archers and people on horseback just like you.

I’m using specialized build, heavy armor, scout saddle and fully leveled horse with average 20-30 stats. I also played a lot of Mount and Blade in MP, mainly in cav role. So I have distinctive advantage in experience.

I also hardly never use my horses, i have 6, 1 of each. i can take my horse and slowride around in the world just to relax if i dont have anythign else to do.
So in my oppinion this horse thingy was waste of money and worktime. They could have put that on bugs and maybe 1 admin for official servers^^.

Well, considering there are a number of folks that are enjoying them, including myself - even if only for the decorative nature of them at the moment, I think it is probably a valuable feature to have for the game. What I suspect will happen is a tune up of horses, to make them much more productive and entertaining to use.

They did sink a lot of time and money into the development of them, so I can with a fair amount of certainty say there will be a lot of continued work on improving their value to the gaming experience. I look forward to what is coming.

About 3 weeks ago. I rode them to change their location.

Probably because they promised that at beginning…

Well, that is encouraging then, to see the follow through. I’ve played games where it took many years to follow through on promised future development - or simply never.

Compared to most MMOs I’ve played over the last 2 decades, CE is in it’s infancy. I only just watched the first graphical MMO I played (Asheron’s Call) get the lights turned off a couple years ago and I started that in 1999 I believe. Gemstone (text based like Zork) is still up and running and it was launched in the early days of AOL dial up service.

Basically CE is a toddler, so we have a ton to look forward to.

Basically I hope Funcom makes enough money from CE and from Conan Chop Chop and have LEARNED many things from CE and will make a great and even better CE2.

As Alex (lead designer) said in one of the last streams: This was their first Unreal Engine game. They had to learn, how to use it the best.

I am a software developer… You can achieve the same goals in many different ways. And some are bad, like really bad and some are way better.
And the next thing is resource handling, as the game is for PC and consoles…

Tweaking out the last bit of performance, is a nightmare. Typical Pareto principle (80-20 rule) in the IT/software industry:

It was also discovered that in general the 80% of a certain piece of software can be written in 20% of the total allocated time. Conversely, the hardest 20% of the code takes 80% of the time.

Not since a clan mate took it out and got it killed by a bunch of Nords.

I don’t know if I’ll get another horse. The novelty had worn off, and the negatives outweigh the novelty.

  • can’t bring a thrall
  • low armor
  • low damage
  • low health

I mean if a couple T3 fighters can kill a lvl 12 or 14 horse in silent legion horse armor (I was still working on leveling poor Roach when he was murdered) not the best companion to take on the road.

Since horses were added, i have yet to nab a foal or tame one…

Don’t care for them in general. I was more interested in smaller taming house they mention’d. (which hopfully is still coming)

I hope you like the Dune universe :stuck_out_tongue:

I personally can’t wait to try out Dune. I really enjoyed AoC (the Funcom game, not the mod. Not tried the mod), am really enjoying CE and odds are I am going to love Dune. I’m so hungry for a great Sci-fi MMO. Only one I ever got sucked into for months on end was Eve. Star wars MMOs never grabbed me as much as I’d hoped - maybe a month at best. None of the others held me for more than 30 min.

But, that has nothing to do with horses.

I noticed EZ_Ryder named their horse Roach. I’m betting that becomes the most popular horse name in CE for the next couple years.
