Item Lost after Drowning on Exiled Land

Hello dear Funcom team and community, I have an urgent issue in Conan Exiles (PlayStation 5, Server PVE-K 3053). I unexpectedly drowned in the water on the “Exiled Lands” map today, even though I was swimming above water. I was briefly away, and when I returned, my character had died. The problem is that I had many **valuable and rare items** in my inventory, which are now lost. I would like to ask if there is a possibility to restore the save game from before my death via a server backup so that I can recover my items. Thank you very much for any help and support! Best regards.

If you were playing on your own server, you could roll it back, but there is no way Funcom would rollback an official server so you could get your things back.

iplay this game over 11k hours and if funcom will this, then g-portal make it, not the first time

Funcom doesn’t do lost equipment replacement for individuals on Official servers

Do you understand what you are asking ? Because I don’t think you do realize the extent of it and when/why funcom actually did some rollbacks ( for the very few times they did it ).

you are asking funcom to rollback a server for a mistake you made. Being afk out in wild in conan is a mistake.( even if you have something IRL that you have to deal with urgently, it is still from a pure game perspective a mistake though forced on you by external reasons ). now there is 2 ways( there are more but let’s try to stay short for this response) somebody can react ,

the first one is to think haha well lesson learned , don’t stay afk in the wild (especially while swimming or right in the middle of an encampment after you killed all npc’s if you plan to be afk longer than the respawn time … )

Or go ask funcom to rollback so that you can do it again and everytime something like this happen I’ll ask funcom to rollback the servers !!! yay !!!

Guess which one is fantasy land and which one is better.

Do you know that a rollback impacts everyone on the server ?

it’s been ~8 hours you typed your ask , and let’s say you wrote it right after you noticed that you had died. that’s 8 hours you would take back to everybody that played on the server that day , and the more we wait the more cumulative it becomes. so imagine a new player came and played 6 hours , all his progress would be wiped out because you asked for it just cause you were afk ?

Now , yes funcom already made some rollbacks ( 2 in 5/6 years ) , one was because of thralls decay timmer being screwed and everybody ( and I say EVERYBODY ) lost their thralls , and another on some servers ( not all servers ) that had been hacked by people with gigantism …

and even then some people that had just started the game went to complain because they lost a couple hours of gameplay , when everybody lost all their thrall “collection” ( with some unobtainable now like the captain and bandit leaders and their followers to name some ) …

so there was never a case of a single player asked for it and got funcom to rollback …. because it’s silly to even think of it… but I guess some people think they are the main character in their fictional view of the world …

Well explained.

To add to it this is a case where reading the ToC is crucial for understanding your role, regardless of its ambiguity.

However, loss of any kind isn’t up for debate. It’s only under the gravest of circumstances it is even considered.

This isn’t one of those circumstances.

Hello Funcom team,

I am writing again because this situation has gone far beyond a simple “unlucky death” or a normal gameplay mistake.
I am Barbaria on Official Server 3053 (PVE-K, PS5), and what happened to me is the result of a bug that has been around for months and is getting worse recently.

:warning: What happened:

I was swimming ABOVE the water near New Asagarth.
I was completely safe — no enemies, no drowning, nothing attacking me.

I stepped away for about 20 minutes.
When I returned, my character was DEAD and the log simply said “killed” with no killer listed.

When I ran back to the spot:
• My body was gone
• My items were gone
• And the 30-minute loot timer did NOT apply

This is not normal gameplay.
This is a server bug, and right now 3053 has been extremely unstable for weeks.

:warning: Why this MUST be taken seriously:

I have more than 11,000 gameplay hours in Conan Exiles.
I know how the mechanics work.
I know the risks of the game.
And this death does NOT match any legitimate death in Conan Exiles.

The server is currently full of issues:
• Thralls spawning under foundations
• Thralls standing frozen at benches
• Thralls running in place
• Lag spikes, teleporting mobs, rubberbanding
• Random health drops
• Delayed rendering
• Items disappearing
• And now: deaths while swimming safely above water

This isn’t frustration “because I died”.
This is frustration because the game is becoming unstable, and many players feel the same.

:warning: And yes, Funcom, the community IS frustrated:

Anyone who reads Reddit, Steam discussions, PlayStation forums, or the bug reports here knows that Conan Exiles players have been complaining for months about:

• The lack of updates
• No improvements for PS5 (while PC players get graphic enhancements)
• Content being removed or simplified
• Battle Pass issues
• Bugs that stay for months
• Zero communication
• And an overall feeling that the game is being kept running simply to sell DLC but not truly maintained

People love this game, but they are burned out by the lack of support.
And when loyal players lose rare gear due to bugs, it is extremely discouraging.

:warning: To the other players replying:

I am not asking for sympathy.
I am not asking for free items.
I am reporting a reproducible, serious bug on an official server.

If someone is frustrated and reports a clear problem, replying with:
“Nothing can be done, just accept it"
or
“It’s your fault”
is not helpful, not constructive, and does nothing but push more players away from the game.

If you don’t have useful information or technical insight, please respect that some of us are trying to improve the game by reporting issues properly.

:warning: My request to Funcom:

• Please investigate this death-above-water bug on server 3053
• Please review server performance issues affecting thralls and loot timers
• Please check logs or backups around the time of my death
• Please consider item restoration policies in cases where a verified bug causes a loss

I love Conan Exiles and have spent over 11,000 hours in this world.
But the current state of the game — and the lack of communication — is pushing players away.

If things continue like this, official servers will only lose more and more players.

Thank you for reading,
Barbaria
Official Server 3053 (PVE-K, PS5)

I suggest filing proper bug reports for each issue.

Funcom, nor some members of the community don’t care about how many hours an individual has put into the game. Bug or not, they won’t roll back an entire server for a single player on an Official server. If it was a server wide issue that was affecting everybody and could be replicated in testing they might. It’s a risk you signed up for when you play Official servers.

lies , proof :

ha yes the death occurred at 15h05m and the loot disappeared at 15h37m

so there was the normal 30+ minutes , you were certainly afk way longer than 20 minutes and of course there was no items left after this much time it was already gone

the state of the game , has no effect on you being afk too long

it’s totally about your frustration .

and if I understood correctly if you are swimming in frozen waters above New asagarth too long you die of freezing and this is somewhat a bug ?

I stepped away for a short moment. When I returned, my character was DEAD and the log simply said “killed” with no killer listed.

The exact time is visible in my screenshots: death at 15:05, loot disappearance at 15:37. The timer itself is not the issue — that part is consistent.

The problem is that my character died for no valid reason even though I was swimming above the water surface, in a safe area, with no enemies, no drowning, and no cold damage.

I’m no expert by any means but my guess is that your character had de-rendered. You may have died due to multiple possibilities and the game didn’t know how to register it. Hunger depletes faster in cold. You could have frozen. You could have been popped under the water and drowned (this happens far often than most realize). This seems to be a commonality in similar situations. Character or thrall dies out far away from anyone else and the system registers as “died” with unrecoverable body and loot bag.

The guess for your body and loot is that it fell through the world.

Is any of this ok? No.

Is it due to a or multiple bugs? Probably.

What can be done? File proper bug reports and hope FC looks into it, then implements fixes accordingly.

In the meantime take preventative measures. Don’t go idle in potentially dangerous places. Store all items temporarily in a container if you have to go afk. Consider not carrying a base worth of loot on you in general.

What will NOT happen in this case is you getting a roll back of that server OR your items from FC. The best you can do is learn from it and file reports for each issue.

The water you died to whilst afk can kill given sufficient time. In case you failed to notice, it’s fed by a giant glacier. You were most likely killed by the temperature and being that you were afk, you missed the warning signs.

I wouldn’t say they only listen to praise and I don’t think anyone who has commented here is doing that.

There is a process, it will be my third time mentioning it: file proper bug reports. This post is not a bug report.

If you’ve played this for 11,000 hours like you claim, then you should know the risk of travelling with an inventory full of high end items. Sounds like your character dipped under water just enough to drown. It happens.

The fact you are demanding Funcom reset a public server and all of the progress other players have made is kinda absurd. Accept the mistake you made and move on.

You drowned. Simple as that and for stepping away for the length of time you’re indicating…

that was careless on your part.

Accept your loss.

You are either in the water or under water. There is no “above water” unless you’re cheating.
